Handicappers Corner

Welcome to our one week old website that is here to stay for a very long time. We are excited to announce that we now own Top Turf Today which we have been using for the past 3 years for our source for superior figures and trip notes on California grass races. Our handicapper does the figure making for Top Turf Today so obviously his knowledge of it's use is at the highest level. Quite a plus for The Racing Digest members.

If anyone has interest in purchasing Top Turf  Today it can be purchased at 1/2 the regular price if you are a current or fairly recent "Digest" member.

Top Turf Today is only useful to folks who have at least an average level of handicapping ability. It is not a selection service like this publication.

We would appreciate it if any of you know any trainers, owners, or handicappers to please let them know about Top Turf Today. We feel strongly it would help them immensely. And it is a bargain compared to similar products that are out there.

Very difficult card to say the least...save some money for the weekend

Only recommended play is in the 8th and last race where we have 2 1st timers as our 1, 2 choices  8th race exacta part wheel  8, 12 with 2, 5, 8, 9, 11, 12   10 bets

Race 1    below average clarity

4  Small But Mighty   positive rider switch after a long time with a low percentage jock...seems sharp for this race and drops

6  Unusual Jane   long layoff for this closer but all his races on the AW fit here...big factor if ready

5  Cherie's Dream   exits a fast heat off of the 2 month layoff and now takes a noteworthy small drop in claiming

Race 2    average clarity

1  Changing   drops and catches a soft field....good history at 7F...good rider/trainer team

2  Craig's Storm   logical drop to back where was claimed at the 16K level

3  Raingear   another taking a drop in claiming from a small but capable barn....chance to sit close with a good break in a race without an abundance of speed

Race 3    average clarity

5  Vikkilee   consistent figs that are par like for today's level.....lone grass win is with today's jock up...red hot barn

8  Sindyfromsantacruz   horse was really learning the game when she was laid off....works from Mitchell say all wound up and ready....1st on the sod but mom tossed 3 grass runners

1  Madeline Ruby   wide trip in last hides this one's ability somewhat....better post will help that from happening again

7  Dave's Revenge   only grass race was OK...has been facing better on the AW....tough call here

Race 4    below average clarity

3  Favre N Away   positive rider switch to Gomez and a solid work series suggests we will see more today

7  Familiar Shine   consistent sort is distance fit to get the extended sprint distance of 7F......Gallagher means business with a strong work series for this affair

9  Little Ruler   hidden run in last caught wide close to a decent pace

6  Thrice The Vice   poor start in maiden debut run compromised his chances....freshened up with a good work series...barn has a solid record with 2nd time starters

Race 5    average clarity

5  Lexlenos   owns some nice back numbers on Top Turf Today....handles the 1 1/8 mile distance and some others may not...solid 6F drill last week

4  Alpine Yodel   race lacks true speed and she has some.....Gomez will most likely try to milk the fractions and stick around

3  Playa Bonita   bred to run all day and it showed with her only win coming at 1 1/8 miles which was the furthest she has run to date

1  Win Allison Win   needed her last and should move forward....good history for barn 2nd out after the layoff...today's scenario

Race 6    below average clarity

2  Silk Street   3 solid lifetime runs....impressive 1st in the USA considering the layoff...good likelihood moves forward and gets ignored at the windows

4  Close To The Edge   1st at a route and believe will go after the front end...decent shot if he's allowed to get a reasonable pace on the lead

7  Victory With Honor   solid fig in his debut which was in a sprint....bred to go long and backed up with solid connections

1  Broken Tango   one lifetime race fits and it fits well...that's the effort by this colt 2 races back

Race 7    avergae clarity

3  My Aunt Fanny   Top Turf Today seldom gives a horse a "very good stretch" note in it's publication but this 1st time in the USA winner got one....proven at 1 1/8 and gets enough speed to put in another roaring finish

4  Jealous Woman   3 for 3 on the sod and looks like the speed of the speed here....if she wires in this spot I believe she will be talked about as something special on the front end which she may be

5  Welken   very consistent sort steps up and will need very best today...sure is a smooth runner...always a plus

2  Don't Forget Faith   almost won versus similar in last grass run 2 back and closed that day into a soft pace...will get more pace to run at today

Race 8    average clarity

8  Jacob's Tiger   all systems appear to be go as for as the works are concerned for this Puype 1ster....and he has used Talamo on multiple ready 1ster timers

12  Saltwater M D   work series to finish up this 1sters training suggests he's all set and well meant in his debut into the racing world

11  Saltwater   Walsh is tough 1st time she takes over and runs a new youngster...showed speed in debut

9  Slew City Gold   big works....dull race in MSW....big works again...drops into mdn claiming...barn is having a good meet...very dangerous

5  Kalookan Commando   solid sprint in last and a positive rider switch...barn and rider could use a win
