Handicappers Corner

Welcome to our two week old website that is here to stay for a very long time. We are excited to announce that we now own Top Turf Today which we have been using for the past 3 years for our source for superior figures and trip notes on California grass races. Our handicapper does the figure making for Top Turf Today so obviously his knowledge of it's use is at the highest level. Quite a plus for The Racing Digest members.

If anyone has interest in purchasing Top Turf  Today it can be purchased at 1/2 the regular price if you are a current or fairly recent "Digest" member.

Top Turf Today is only useful to folks who have at least an average level of handicapping ability. It is not a selection service like this publication.

We would appreciate it if any of you know any trainers, owners, or handicappers to please let them know about Top Turf Today. We feel strongly it would help them immensely. And it is a bargain compared to similar products that are out there.

Average  card at best today which is somewhat disappointing considering how well we have done on Sundays in the past.

Yikes our 12 to 1 morning line recommended win place show bet sure got hammered by our customer base.  $11.00 to win

recommended exacta part wheel in race 7    1, 3, 4, 7, 10   with  1, 10   and another  7 with 1, 10   10 bets

Race 1    average clarity

2  Irish Pepper   last 3 races fit solidly at today's level.....but....Bejarano will need to keep this horse busy to avoid another hanging finish

4  A Woman's Fury   solid work series from this 1st timer that set well meant for debut

8  Champagneandlillies   never too crazy about a high priced 1st timer running at the bottom level of maiden claiming but the works are up to snuff and the barn has been making all the right moves this meet to get to the winners circle

9  Racing Rachel   long layoff but hasn't missed a beat in the morning for 2 months straight...barn loves their horses like this to fly early

Race 2    average clarity

6  Hot Damon   only race on the AW was most impressive.....handled route racing on the turf so there is a high likelihood we will see the same on the sod...very tough with a good trip

5  Norvsky   horse has talent turf or AW....barn often shows uo 3rd after a layoff like today

3  Pinstripe   hiden wake up in last with a bad trip....Espinoza will be out to make amends

Race 3    average clarity

7  California Colonel   drops out of Msw and seemingly has a nice spot to use his speed and dictate the race form start to finish

4  Cookie's Jewel   bred to appreciate a route of ground....last looks like the tune-up to be full throttle 1st at a route in 2nd lifetime start

3  Unusual Jane   not the best of trips in MSW race at GG.....takes a logical drop back home at SA...barn is pretty solid 1st run at a route

9  Warren's Mr. Lucky   drops back to maiden claiming and this colt gets a very positive rider switch...seems well meant

Race 4    above average clarity

9  Suziqcutie   this mare is in love with the 5 1/2 furlong sprint distant and the barn wisely/patiently has waited for it to be carded...4 very strong figs for this distant in 4 races

1  Heavens Lake   plenty of pace up front for her to close fast from far back

4  Company Secret   logical drop to where this mare last won a race....seems capable of rating a little...faces plenty of other speed

6  I Swear   on the improve......closer gets pace to close into....solid rider/trainer combo

Race 5    above average clarity

3  I'll Show Them   training great off of a 3 momth layoff......barn has a strong history 2nd time out under their tutelage....good stalk/ponce position

2  Times Gone By   very stronfigs for the level.....can save ground laying 3rd or 4th in great position

4  Lease On Life   solid sprint turf prep should have very fit for 2nd time in the Mitchell barn

6  Glowing Praise   impressive win at Ascot beating 16 horses to finish Euro campaign...traing as tough pointed to be ready in 1st USA run

Race 6    below average clarity

9  Bonnie Blue Flag   like the fact Baffert doesn't drop this gal and that she is seemingly training the sharpest of her life

10  Dominant Currency   20 to 1 in debut (yet still got 2nd) strongly suggests this Hartycharge wasn't all the wound up for debut but will be today

5  Caitie's Secret   impressive work series from a barn that is more than capable with a MSW 1st timer...Pender has put speed and endurance into this youngster

7  Come Home Quick   decent decent run and the Glattbarn is usually much tougher with 2nd time starters

Race 7    average clarity

7  Stash   logical drop to get to the magical winners circle......fresh speed that is well prepared is usually very tough to catch....today's scenario

1  Yodelady O   exits a very fast heat earning a powerful fig but this filly loves to hang when it counts

10  Joint Agreement   another who loves to hang....good move forward in last and works say another move in the right direction may occur

3  Pink Diamond   overdo drop may help this mare be much more  contentiious...can get a nice stalking trip

Race 8    average clarity

1  Dynamic Range   on the improve with just about every start...bred to run all day and does...can sit close to a seemingly reasonable pace

4  Romp   impressive close in last considering the long layoff....gets in light and likes the marathon decent...can fly late unless of course they crawl up front

8  Sudden War   solid return to the race wars in last and sure loves the marathon distance...McPeek is starting to heat up

9  Porfido  last was somewhat of a clunker but 85% of this one's career fits solidly in this spot....needs to rebound and may

Race 9    average clarity

12  Water Landing   very strong 1st timer drills from a guy like Cecil...bred to be a good sprinter and sure looks ready to roll

4  Self Made   another with solid sprint breeding...bred and working like he is quick early

9  My Boy Walsh   one of the worst 1st start trips of the year...I've got the horse losing about 16 lengths in his debut...bullet work since

10  Nofty  decently Cal bred is training well especially for a guy like G Mandella....dangerous

2  Camicory  tough trip in debut hides his ability...small but capable barn...mega price
