Handicappers Corner
Welcome to our new website that is here to stay for a very long time. We are excited to announce that we now own Top Turf Today which we have been using for the past 3 years for our source for superior figures and trip notes on California grass races. Our handicapper does the figure making for Top Turf Today so obviously his knowledge of it's use is at the highest level. Quite a plus for The Racing Digest members.
If anyone has interest in purchasing Top Turf Today it can be purchased at 1/2 the regular price if you are a current or fairly recent "Digest" member.
Top Turf Today is only useful to folks who have at least an average level of handicapping ability. It is not a selection service like this publication.
We would appreciate it if any of you know any trainers, owners, or handicappers to please let them know about Top Turf Today. We feel strongly it would help them immensely. And it is a bargain compared to similar products that are out there.
Short fields and lots of chalk doesn't create a lot of excitement but I would still rate this as a good card after studying.
Recommended pick 3 part wheel starts in the 6th just like the one we hit nicely yesterday
6th race  1,3,5 with 1,2,6 with 1,2,3,6    36 bets
Â
Â
race 1Â Â Â slightly above average clarity
4 Cookie's Jewel  impressive 1st run at a route especially considering this gelding is a 3 year old...3 very reassuring drills since and 1st time Bejarano
3 Kissed  5 year old gets to face all but one 3 year old and that is an advantage in March going long even with the weight break for the babies....route grass fig in last fits....can he duplicate it on the synthetic is the question
6 Full Effect  big wake up in last two races and today we get a monumental rider switch and 7 lbs off....that ought to be worth at least 5 lengths
Â
race 2Â Â Â slightly below average clarity
3 Lexlenos closer doesn't get much pace to run at but the tiny field will help him find room for his big late run
5 Rosey De Megeve  two useful grass sprints andnow switches to a route of ground....looks like the best speed in here in what should be a slow pace...... bred well to handle a route of ground
race 3Â Â Â slightly above average clarity
4 Romance Is Family  heavy fave takes a logical drop out of MSW....only race on the AW at a route would handle about 80 to 90 % of the races at today's level
1 Saarface  earned his lifetime best fig with a bad trip in latest.....can upset our top choice if he moves forward a little 2nd out after the layoff and handles his first route endeavor
2 Monitor Pass  showed some life in his 1st route run 11 just 11 days ago....blinkers off today and the barn has a good history with such a maneuver
race 4Â Â Â average clarity
3 Captain Kali  last time this colt ran turf to turf to AW on the drop down in class he fired a powerful effort.....same scenario today
2 My Man Sumo  just claimed by O'Neal and he smartly keeps this gelding on the AW at the 6F distance which is where he has done his best running
5 One Vote  positive...sure like the rider switch and his top effort ability.....negative....no works showing in 4 weeks since a dull effort
race 5Â Â above average clarity
7 Khendum  strong Top Turf Today sprint grass fig in only grass race......training great for the best of connections.....bred and ready for 1st route grass race
4 Broken Silence  well proven at a route on the AW and showed a liking to the lawn in her sprint grass run 4 weeks ago
2 Irish Torrent consistent sort on the AW or the grass with 4 straight 2nd's....starting to look as if this one is a hanger....T C Baze will be out to prove me wrong
1 Go Forth North  3 year filly proved herself on the grass in GB and can be a factor if she is up to running her best after an 8 month layoffÂ
Race 6Â Â Â average clarity
3 Past Curfew  hot Lloyd barn takes over the responsibilities of this filly who exits 2 strong heats in a row...repeat of either of those races would make her the one to overcome here
5 Victory Dancer  3 out of 5 win on the SA synthetic and takes a logical drop.....plenty of front running types in here so her closing style fits this 6 1/2 furlong affair
1 Suarez  lost her irons in her layoff run last.......sharp in the mornings......showed the ability to run from off the pace last Spring at Tup......that might come in handy here
race 7Â Â Â slightly above average clarity
2 Manhattan Beach  race lacks speed and this mare appears to be the most likely front runner....back in 11 days and back with short rest has been a good thing for a Mitchell trainee of late
6 Minute Limit  very strong superior grass figs on Top Turf Today but she is a deep closer in a race that looks like a slow pace should occur
1 Lemon Supreme  the break maybe everything with this mare....the 1 post down the hill causes many poor starts but if this one get get away fairly well at the start she should be sitting near a nice and easy pace
Â
race 8Â Â Â average clarity
6 Cremedelagold  perfect spot 1st a 1ster that's training well because this is one soft looking maiden claimer
1 Poetic Riches  both lifetime races fit figure wise but this late runner will have to get it done in a speed friendly 5 furlong sprint
2 Just Call'er  decent wake up in last and strong 3F drill since...good chance to move forward
5 Senior Security  late runner will need more pace than anticipated to but in a winning late run
3  Billssecondchance  poor trip in her last....her 1st out in 9 months....good gate work since....might show last Spring's speed and that would put her in the hunt
