Santa Anita for Friday 9 April 2010

Handicappers Corner

Recommend a fairly inexpensive play in the 5th race pick 4

1,7,8 with 1,2,3,6,9 with 2,4 with 5   30 bets

race 1    average clarity

5  Ida Of March  solid work series has this late runner ready in a spot that can set up for her closing style....also like the small field to maneuver through or around

1  Miss Olivia K   exits 2 solid maiden races......competitive runs in all 3 lifetime races

race 2    average clarity

1  Crash Landing   terrific history on he SA synthetic...last shot to run on it till Fall.....Jones should have him ready once again

4  Sea Rascal   has shown life in all his races on the main track...continues to train like he feels good...positive rider switch

2  Pack Your Bags   just claimed and the new barn goes back to Bejarano who knows this gelding fairly well....whole career fits in this spot

race 3    slightly below average clarity

3  Misinjennuous  1st on the lawn but bred for it...last looks like the gimme to be full throttle for today's run

9  Come Home Quick  in decent form on the AW and her pedigree suggests the grass will get more out of this 1st on the sod filly

5  Timezone  this 1ster is training as if there is a good chance she is ready to compete in her MSW debut.....better than average grass breeding

2  Magic Lantern   races overseas fit fine in this spot.....barn has been hot but it is tough to tell if this was is ready for her U S of A debut

race 4    slightly above average clarity

6  Falaise Pocket   best set of works for a Koriner1ster in quite some time....has his "go to with 1st timers" jock aboard

1  Mikeymike   very fast animal early....tends to fade late....but freshened up for a red hot trainer/rider team...wire to wire attempt

2  Warren's Concept   on the improve with every start and will need the trend to continue

4  Alittlebitajustice   showing some life in morning for his maiden debut run...hasn't missed a beat in the morning for the last 10 weeks

race 5    average clarity

7  Imperatriz   solid grass figs in this spot and runs off a solid better than par race on the synthetic...solid rider/trainer combo too

8  Siberian Heart   last looks like the gimme in a non-claiming protected race for today's full throttle I hope they don't me claim go

1  Pretty Kinzie   decent 1st race down the SA hill turf course in last....small logical drop helps

6  Phoenician   has shown life on the AW in all 3 lifetime races......bred well for the grass......bit concerned about the lack of recent works

race 6    average clarity

3  Dave's Pacemaker   training exceptionally well off of the 5 month layoff.......Avila barn has been very reliable when they show big drills

6  Hiho Geronimo   horse must really be feeling great for Mitchell to step this gelding up from 16K to 32K because he is sure doesn't seem to be afraid to lose a horse in the claiming box

1  Leedstheway   last 2 fits are solid for this level.......takes a significant small drop to enhance his chances

9  Brenthurst   if this one is still healthy enough lookout....the races 2 and 3 back figure wise beat this group

race 7    average clarity

4  Red Alert Day   very consistent figs/efforts in his last 6 grass races....those efforts if repeated sure look tough in this spot

2  Worldly   like the fact this gelding will most likely sit in the rear of the field and relax.......will have a clear run late at a small group

race 8   average clarity

5  Unusually Lucky    capable of blistering early pace....strong rider switch to Bejarano....wire to wire

3  Crispy Corey   very well bred to appreciate sprints and training like he is very ready for his MSW debut

6  Fun And Frolic   same as the above but with lesser connections in support of the horse

8  Jacob's Tiger   on the improve and if we see another today this late runner can run on by most or all of them

9  Bold Type   will need to move forward by 3 or more lengths  for the win otherwise Bold Type will only be competing for a smaller prize
