Hollywood for Wednesday, 21 April 2010 Opening Day
Handicappers Corner
Don't want to jinx the Hollywood Spring meeting but we thought we might remind you what we did during the Fall Hollywood meeting.
After terrific Fairplex and Oak Tree at Santa Anita meets Hollywood surpassed them. For the Hollywood Fall meeting our returns were nothing short of phenomenal. So much so that we wouldn't be surprised if our competition was subscribing to our service. We especially excelled in straight wagers. Straight exactas over a 60% profit on 234 possible exactas. Straight doubles over a 260% profit on 207 possible doubles. Straight pick 3's over a 400% profit on 180 possible pick 3's. Straight pick 4's over an 80% profit on 54 possible pick 4's.
Keep on eye on the racing surface for any track bias that may develope if we get the rain that is in the forecast.

Recommended pick 3 part wheel starts in the 3rd
1,2,4,7,8 with 1,9 with 1,2,3,4,7,8Â Â Â 60 bets
Â
race 1Â Â Â average clarity
3  Belleofthebridle  trainer Solis can get the job done in these early 2 year old one turn affairs.....this filly who is facing the boys trains as if she is extremely fast early and can wire if she breaks cleanly
4 Blinx Zip  trainer has a poor history with 1st time starters but this colt is trainer super at Tup and bothers to ship in
5 Secret Tapit  hard to ignore the red hot combination of Deleon and Amador......colt has hit the track every at regular weekly intervals...seems well meant in debut
2 Norman Conqueror nice tightly spaced drills for this 1ster and a trainer in Harrington who wins at a high rate in these early 2 year old MSW races
Â
race 2Â Â Â slightly below average clarity
5 Changing  good history at Hollywood...drops....last win came at 7 furlongs after a route race....same scenario today
3 Wine On The Porch  8 lifetime starts, 0 for 4 on the grass and 2 for 4 on the synthetic....2nd out after the layoff and takes a significant drop in claiming price to earn his keep
1 Orientation Hall  gotta like the 3 straight wins since M Garcia took over the riding responsibilities...very consistent sortÂ
Â
race 3Â Â Â average clarity
7 Shediak  bad trip in last hides this geldings improvement and is was run after a long layoff...bred to run all day so the 1 1/4 distance should be a plus
4 Lexlenos  easily his best ever was his only race at today's distance.....horse needs to get over his tendency to hang and maybe the long distance will help
2 Rumba Along  marked improvement in last which was his 2nd start since the claim back......repeat of that effort puts in the hunt for the win here....distance is a ? mark
9 El Indy  works are better so we may so a better performance than his last....ran second to a marathon star to races back in early Jan.
Â
race 4Â Â Â Â average clarity
9 Ms Margaritaville  race 2 back is a strong effort for today's level and just worked a powerful 6F....finally gets to run where she trains
1 Flying Suances  good move forward in 2nd lifetime start and now runs long for the 1st time.......Vienna has won 8 of his last 24 1st time at a route
7 Miss Wind Up  small barn is very capable of getting a horse ready to run fresh off of the bench...solid work series suggests he's turned this horse around
8Â Sh Sh Shakin'Â Â debut race 2 back run in Dec is quite strong...small barn has used Hunt (mostly an exercise rider) in the past including a 50 to 1 that won that we had in our selections
Â
race 5Â Â Â Â average clarity
4 Terrify  very fast early....should clear and I believe she will appreciate 1/2 less furlong to run....horse she beat came back to win Saturday
1 Sassy Fusaichi  2 for 2 on the grass and may be poised for a very big effort because she got away with a soft pace in her last and never appeared to exert herself thus leaving lots in the tank for today
7 Brooke Girl  it will be interesting to see if Cerin can keep the good times rolling now that SA is finished....strong 5/8 drill for this mare hints that he can get off to a good start
2 Laura's Pleasure   late runner seems to like ample time between races and gets it....last was her only grass race and it was a good one versus a nice field
Â
race 6Â Â Â average clarity
8 Days Of Lightning  on the improve with almost every start.....can get a nice lead or stalk position in a race that seems set for front runners
4 Ishmael  big drop down....race 2 back crushes these....health still intact is the question
3 Swiss Arrogant  likes Hollywood and seems to appreciate 6F
2 Little Ruler  can be close up in a race lacking of speed...good speed rider up
Â
race 7Â Â Â slightly below average clarity
2 Smiling Tiger  has run well versus way better....seems to be a matter of handling the turf...bred fine for it
5 Face And An Ace plenty of pace sets things up for his solid close
4 Majestic Afleet  lost irons in only turf sprint race for about 6 lengths....only got beat by 4...plenty of pace for his closing style
8 Hollywood Harbor  crushed foes by many lengths at Emd last Summer...Sahadi takes over....good pedigree for the grass
Â
race 8Â Â average clarity
3 Goshawk  overdo drop out of lackluster runs in MSW....guess is this one is healthy enough to handle these
4 Slew City Gold  laid up but training very sharply for this...last race is better than it looks
13  Warren's Big Eagle  two straight trips in a row from you know where...jock will be out to make amends
15 Who's Your Widady  on the right end of the learn curve
8 Surprisefor Toulla  new barn takes over...horse is training like a different animal
