Hollywood for Friday night 23 April 2010
[private]
 Handicappers Corner
Word of caution. In 2009 the only time that the Hollywood racing surface had a somewhat dead inside was on Friday nights. I'd say this occurred about 30 to 40 percent of the time. Â
Recommended pick 3 part wheel starts in the 5th race
1,4,5,6,7,8 with 2,3,6,7,8,10 with 5
Â
race 1Â Â Â average clarity
3 Aeromon  Dollase had a somewhat lackluster SA meet and he looks like he's dropping this gelding out of MSW to get Hol off to a good start
4 Slew City Grinder   had a tough trip in debut run 2 back but showed lots of life.....last looks like a route gimme to give this 3 year some more endurance.....back to a sprint and drops...trainer/rider won 2 opening day
6 Souvenir Summer   excellent series of works since his decent maiden debut back in early March...high likelihood moves forward
9 Ned Page  poor history for trainer with 1st time starters but the works suggest this one might be ready to roll at 1st asking
Â
race 2Â Â Â average clarity
7 Downhill Diva  long layoff and a modest history but this filly is working like a totally different greatly improved filly
1 Warren's Whisper  last sure looks like a turf tune-up to leg up and fire a good race back on the AW
4 Sky Chant  done little wrong in 3 lifetime races especially the 2 she ran on the synthetic
Â
race 3Â Â Â average clarity
6 Go Forth North  solid 1st run in the good old U S of A and it came off of a long layoff.....2 reassuring works since....good chance she moves forward tonight
8 Attar Of Rose  best set of works from the Mulhall barn in some time...they are long and they are strong...ship in from the East Coast is ready
4 Maria's Dane  on the right end of the learning curve and Bejarano stays around
5 Irish Torrent  morning line favorite tries hard but she tends to flatten out when it counts especially at 1 1/16...needs more punch late
Â
race 4Â Â Â average clarity
7 Kailani  exits a fast heat (which was her maiden debut) with a respectable effort and this filly hasn't missed a beat since in the morning.....good chance we see more
3 Champagneandlilies back to a sprint where she sat close to a strong pace and finished up well...should be prominent from the get go
5 Jana Gail  sure looks like 6 1/2 furlongs should help put this filly in the hunt late
2Â Princess Beau KÂ Â 1ster is hitting the track in the AM at regular intervals a sign he's fit and healthy for her maiden debut
Â
race 5Â Â Â average clarity
6 Keen Bidder   believe last was a much needed tune-up to be fit and ready for his 2nd run after the long layoff....vastly improved in his last 2 races in GB before being laid up
8 Summer Movie  outside post but seems to have a speed advantage over most in here so T C Baze can clear and get over by the 1st turn....very sharp in the morning
5 Thomas Baines consistent sort....only grass race was solid with 2 next out winners...I am concerned that it's been a long time since Rosario/O'Neal have won a race together...but...they have the horse here to get it done
1 Hockley  believe Flores will send from the 1 post...get loose and may..........go...........all...........the...............way
Â
race 6Â Â Â slightly below average clarity
8 Frequent Fame  seems to appreciate the Holracing surface.....also appears at top of her game right now with a lifetime best 2 back and good drills since after an experimental run on the sod Â
6 Krakow Queen  exits a fast heat maiden breaking win albeit 7 weeks ago....strong contender if repeats that effort
2 Pretty Kinzie  race seems to set up somewhat for her late running style.....Eurton takes over the training duties andhe has a good history 1st out under his tutelage
3 This Time Baby  good work series since breaking her maiden....might get a good stalk position behind dueling leaders
Â
race 7Â Â Â above average clarity
5 Ruination  very impressive 1st route run on the lawn showing strong pace and final time....repeat of that effort with even an average trip beats these
7 Alpine Yodel     very very consistent sort at least fig wise on Top Turf Today ( from 3 over par to 3 under par for this level in her last 17 turf races) can get a nice chase or mid pace position
2 Samatha's Rule  another consistent sort who needs to avoid flattening out in the late stretch especially at 1 1/16 miles....Bejarano up should help that concern
Â
race 8Â Â Â average clarity
4 Taxi Fleet  50 % claiming price drop to get to the circle of joy seems very logical for this horse who has paid only a fraction costs of owning him in 2009 and 2010
11 A Cat Named Snipe  seems sharp right now.....faced better in his last and didn't embarrass himself
10 Acquire The Fire  hard to argue with 9 of 14 "places" at today's distance of 6 furlongs
6 Get Off The Sugar  lookout if we see the race this gelding ran 2 races back...looks bad on paper because it was a bad trip
7 Possibi  laid off horse takes the plunge in claiming price....might be now or never
