Handicappers Corner
In the Kentucky Oaks race number 11 at Churchill Downs I like #5 Blind Luck the best. As many of you know I have liked her from day one. Talented and seemingly intelligent. Her smooth way of going enhances her chances at getting a good trip. Other contenders are 3, 7, 8, 11Â
There are plenty of races that need to be posted early so shortened comments for today so as not to sacrifice any handicapping time.
Â
race 1Â Â Â slightly above average clarity
1 Look To The Sky  like her in her last and few reasons to think she can't fire again
3 Enlightened Lady  woke up in last....fits well if repeats effort
5 Acute Velocity  closer was able to rally and win with a lackluster pace in last
Â
race 2Â Â Â slightly above average clarity
3 B. I. Guy  barn has woken up and the gelding is on the improve
9 Duke Of Aspen  barn remains rather hot and gelding drops a small but helpful notch down the claiming ladder
8 Mikroman  nice maiden debut especially considering it was at a route of ground
4 Rockstar Ben  last looks like a maiden debut gimme to be full throttle today 2nd out on the drop down...hang on apprentice
Â
race 3Â Â Â below average clarity
4Â Lauren CÂ Â nice work series seemingly has very ready off of the 3 month layoff....difficult race to decipher
2 Triple Star  chased a very nasty pace in a mile race in last.....that pace improvement and turning back to a sprint make her interesting
1 Burna Dette   consistent sort will need her best at this level
Â
race 4Â Â Â average clarity
1 Cantona  been breaking poorly short but going long for the 1st time should help her get up...bred to handle a route
5 Wells Furgo  strong races till tossed a clunker in last...needs a rebound to add to the bank
6 St. Joel  solid somewhat subtle move forward in last...may show even more today
9 Milky Way  legged up on the grass in a MSW sprint affair...working OK and drops to the bottom and gives a route a try
Â
race 5Â Â Â average clarity
6 Thermal Way decent Msw debut and is training sharply...barn is solid with 2nd time starters
7 Sirocco Strike  earned best ever on the AW in last with a wide trip...turf breeding is fine...barn is hot
5 Celtic Charmer  excellent and dangerous work series for this 1ster
2 Royal Import  finally gets to sprint on the grass again....best ever was a sprint on the sod
Â
race 6Â Â Â average clarity
2 Shantika's Dream  eased and eased again but sure is training well 1st time blinkers and drops
1 Feed A Fever  takes a logical significant drop in class
6 Saint Cindy  only race at 7F was a decent fig earned with a bad trip
Â
race 7Â Â Â above average clarity
6 Thorondor  sharp move forward in last....good chance to get a nice chase position with the right jock up
3 Soul Candy  another who made a nice forward move and 2 reassuring works since
2 Teafatiller  3 consistent races at SA....needs only small improvement to compete for the top prize
Â
race 8Â Â Â average clarity
13 Gordy's Dream  1ster sure seems ready for debut and the Ellis barn is on fire
5 Goochio  prolonged work solid series for this 1ster and comes from a broodmare that has tossed 6 winners from 6 foals
11 Detroit Donnie  lost about 10 lengths in her maiden debut last and only got beat by 11...impressive recent 6 furlong work
4 Kalookan Commando all his efforts fit...very consistent...4th choice but seems most likely to hit the board
14 Padre Jon  turf tightener in MSW and drops...might but the old gimme / go
