Del Mar for Friday 13 August 2010

[private]

Handicappers Corner

2nd half of today's card sure seems to be better than the 1st half

race 1    below average clarity

3  Forthreeforeuclid   alarming dropper but Miller barn seems to be in a win at Dmr mode and Bejarano stays aboard

4  Veecu   horse gets back on the AW surface where he has preformed well in all 6 races on it.......decent work tab should have ready off of the 8 week layoff

7  Ritzville    needed last off of the layoff and sure like the fact the barn steps him up a notch

9  Cat Calloway   same scenario as our 7 horse selection.......does tend to hang somewhat

race 2    average clarity

1  Our Roads Scholar   barn is waking up.....mare is training sharply....good chance to get a desired mid pack position behind what looks like a lively pace

6  Caitie's Secret   2nd after a brief layoff has bee the key for this young horse and that is what we have today...we also have Sadler/Rosario

3  Money Lover   filly seems sharp and may be able to clear and get loose on the lead which has been a successful tactic for her so far

race 3    average clarity

7  Move Over Gypsy   excellent 1st run on the grass course in last....hot rider/trainer team....can be prominent thru-out

1  Jax El   decent close from too far back in her MSW debut....strong likelihood she moves forward in her 2nd lifetime run from a trainer like Abrams

5  Favoloso   on the improve with every grass start and Rosario sticks with this closing filly for a 3rd straight race

3  Spanish Bunny   good chance to be close up in a ground saving postion in a race that lacks speed

race 4    below average clarity

7  Lola's Lollipop   small barn usually sends their 1st timers ready and the work tab strongly suggests that

11  Cosafina Carina   price shot continues to work like a runner and races back with short rest....rather sure she moves forward today it is just a matter of how much

2  She'sawontontomato   drops out of a fast MSW heat of state-breds....owns good tactical speed and retains a good speed rider in Pedroza

4  Yellow Sticker   Sadler 1ster is training well enough to be considered ready to compete in her maiden claiming debut

race 5    average clarity

2  Girl Of Pangaea   sharp mare right now and should get a nice ground saving trip

4  Madeline Ruby   last was a solid sprint turf prep to be fully fit to drop a notch and put in a good showing at a route on the sod

5  Lady Alex   needs to avoid being too close to a possible strong pace or may not last the 1 1/16...good shot if Rosario can accomplish the task

9  Apt To Be Amazing   will try to clear from the outside.....chase and save some ground into the 1st turn......would have rated higher if this race was at a mile but have some doubts about her 1 1/16 abilities

race 6    above average clarity

9  Major Smoke    put up for 14K in last so why not for 12.5K....last race/fig if duplicated would be tough to beat

8  Magnificent Blend   talk about a consistent animal wherever and whatever he runs on....few reasons to think he won't be highly competitive once again...could be a very nice claim

3  Within Reason   on the improve and seemingly only one other speed type to put away

7  Seven Point One   solid return to the race wars after nearly 2 years away......claimed and steps up a couple of notches indicating the new barn likes what they see

race 7    above average clarity

7  Waveline    very consistent grass sprinter can get the same mid pack / stalk position they he has appreciated in the past....Bejarano knows this horse extremely well....a big big plus

1  Porto Marmay   love her turf sprints especially at the 5F distance

5  Octavia Blue   gets 8 lbs off and adds blinkers.....this speed-ball may be able to clear 2 other very fast animals with those 2 positive changes for a speed horse

6  Dotsy Jean   late runner had a small move forward in last....one more and she fits as well anyone in the field

race 8    average clarity

5  Cat Brando  on the improve a step at a time and takes a small logical drop to get to the circle of joy for the 1st time

4  Highest Honors   broke slowly and went 6 wide in her maiden debut...yikes.....by a new sire but seemingly bred to handle a route of ground.....bomber has a shot

12  Outrageous Fortune   horse fits solidly but must get a clever trip from a difficult post

10  One French Kiss   flashed very strong pace in his last dueling into submission at 7 furlongs.....shoot to get loose....get brave.... and wire at a route

6  Gobbler's Knob  horse fits fine but 0 for 25 wins.....4 2nd's, 7 3rd's....the epitome of a hang-ball

*****NOTE   no. 14 Bustanai fits as well as anyone in here if he draws into the field from the A.E.'s
