Yours truly is taking a short break in the action for the next 5 race cards to freshen up with a little R & R Sunday through Saturday. You will be in the more then capable hands of Dave Gordon for those five race cards starting Sunday. Hope you find his selections and analysis to your liking. Be back with you a week from Sunday.
Â
race 1Â Â Â average clarity
2 Greeley's Ghost  very logical drop and top connections...very solid at this winnable level
6 Cookie Rules  good move forward at Fpx....appears to be a very fast heat for this level
3 E. P. Bombay  major move forward in latest and I like the way she finish up in late stretch
Â
race 2Â Â Â slightly above average clarity
5 Banana Cream Pie  solid mc debut effort....better works since...deservedly steps up....top connections
1 Queenie Marini  popped a major move forward seemingly out of nowhere in last....repeat here makes him tough for this mc levelÂ
7 Hot Ticket  good debut and has the right to show more...rider is cold...needs to get it going
6 Warren's Handfull  slight improve in 2nd light run....will need quite a bit more today to compete with our 1st 3 choices
Â
race 3Â Â Â average clarity
6 Awesome Patriot  prolonged tightly spaced work series suggests Baffert means buss with this 1ster
1 Coil  brilliant work series for a trainer who can get it done with a 1st timer...would have been top choice if he hadn't drawn a tough post for a 1ster
4 Mazarron  last work sure hints that this 1ster is also ready for his debut into the world of racing
Â
race 4Â Â Â average clarity
8 Daylight Storm  solid pace in last set things up for this gelding's big late run...plenty of pace in this affair...believe we will see another significant close from him
4 Rents Paid  exits same race as our top pick...blocked badly on turn or stretch or right there at the wire
6 A Plus Topper  competitive in all 3 lifetime races on the main track...needs to avoid sitting too close to a fast pace here
1 Pacific Avenue  need to see a rebound to debut race 2 back...closing style fits
Â
race 5Â Â Â slightly above average clarity
5 Sidney's Candy handled a nasty pace and still crushed the field like something very special 1st time on the grass...big fig on Top Turf Today
4 Colgan's Chip  over par the last 4 races for this level but here is the trend  +10 +8 +4 +2    one more small improve and he's a legit Grade 2 horse
3 Blue Chagall  plenty of pace in this affair....can fly late  Â
Â
race 6Â Â Â slightly above average clarity
9 Jailbird Jimmy   plenty of pace can sets things up nicely for this late runner
1A Offlee Wild Boys  another closer (who is consistent) gets ample pace to close into
4 Sammy Choi  on the obvious desired e of the learning curve...shipping in is a good sign the trend will continue
3 Chiloquin  solid race at Fpx winning a fairly good time....needs to move forward just a bit more
Â
race 7Â Â Â slightly above average clarity
2 Halloween Candy  solid 1st ever on the grass....that was at a route......trainer is better with sprinters and the drills are sharp
6 Pink Diamond  6 furlongs versus the 5 furlongs she has been running should help her late run get up in time
7 Separate Forest  nasty pace in both lifetime starts..... good shot here if she can avoid another duel here
3 Naughty Mariana  only turf race she ran way back in April wasn't bad and she seems like a better filly now
Â
race 8Â Â Â average clarity
6 Cost Of Freedom  very special sprinter was totally compromised in his last start on the AW with a bad start and a big rush.....working great...good chance to make amends
7 Smiling Tiger  whole career is quite good......on or near the pace from the outset
8 Dancing In Silks  B C Sprint winner in 2009 is overdo to find himself.....Gaines is capable of getting this gelding back to the very top level
5 E Z's Gentleman  bombed in last....needs rebound to race 2 back  Â
 Â
race 9Â Â Â slightly below average clarity
5 The Unusual One  loved this speedster in last and he lost on the last jump...wire to wire if light weight kid can harness his speed just a little
4 Rio De Vino  big improve and the works hint at another...might be a price
7 Big Cozz on the improve with every start...switch in jocks might hurt unless Nakatani finds the rider he was at Dmr
1 Matamor  laid up but working as if he is ready....1st on the sod but terrific grass breeding
8 Uzziah & no. 9 Rauschenberg  (tie)   good horses but that sure like to hand when it counts
