Hollywood for Thursday 9 December 2010

We all have our horror stories about the sizable scores we just missed but a good customer of The Racing Digest had one on Sunday (that has also happened to yours truly a couple of times in the past)  that I want to share with you. He was alive into the last race on Sunday to hit the pick 6 when our top pick tossed Gomez and was scratched. So he then got the post time favorite and unfortunately the 3 horse took in a few more dollars then the eventual winner no. 7. Ouch!!! Will even hurt more if our top choice that scratched,Cocktails At Seven, runs a winning effort when he does start. Hopefully "luck" all evens out in the end.

race 1    slightly above average clarity

2  Hot Citizen    very aggressive tightly spaced work series for this laid up filly says all set to roll.......proven on the grass in a route and 2 for 2 sprinting on the AW with the blinkers on (both wide margin victories)......sprint/turf seem like a perfect fit

6  Come Home Quick   barn is hot especially when Bejarano is up....best AW run ever in latest and I believe this filly is best on the lawn...so....expecting top turf effort this afternoon

1  Seeking The Queen   needed last and this speed-ball may be all set in her 1st ever run on the sod....she possesses adequate grass breeding....front end shot he she takes to the sod

race 2    slightly above average clarity

3  Intentional   all 3 lifetime efforts/figs our very solid for today's level......3 months off but training up to snuff and barn is in "win mode"

7  Pacific Coast Girl   Miller + a speed horse + a 5 furlong race  =  a dangerous competitor

1  Woodman's Lass   debut race 2 back fits at today's lower level....good work series after a clunker in last strongly suggests M Chew has this filly ready for a rebound effort

2  Alexandria Marie   useful mc debut and Kathy Walsh is more dangerous with 2nd time starters

race 3    average clarity

3  Farallon   very impressive in breaking maiden back in August both in final time and pace for the day.....private purchase and a solid work tab.....highly likely ready to roll for out for her new connections

5  Sugarinthemorning    both races run less than 7 furlongs (6 & 6 1/2) are powerful races....the other 2 efforts aren't so hot....5 1/2 furlongs today

2  Belleofthebridle   all 3 races run at Hollywood are also powerful races....the other 2 are not......impressive recent Hollywood drills suggest she's glad to be back "home"

race 4    average clarity

8  Gladiatrix   10 to 1 on a Bob Baffert 1st timer in a MSW race strongly suggests that the race was needed and the drop into mdn claiming makes sense......repeat of that effort is likely to win this with a decent journey

6  She's An Illusion   very solid drills for a filly m32K 1st timer and Hollendorfer steadily wins about 1 out of every 5 starts with his 1sters

1  Lily Amore   broke poorly in her mc lifetime debut and then showed life after the poor break....good gate work since....can be a different story with a good beginning today especially with the 1 hole at 5F

2  Ventress   has flashed some subtle speed in two lifetime starts and now gets blinkers / 5F / Gomez.....very dangerous

race 5    average clarity

4  No Dream   last was best ever on the AW and has solid turf figs albeit in 2009....last run back in short rest 4 races back resulted in a win....short rest today...never been this for but bred the handle the 1 1/2 distance

2  Interpatation   new barn drops this marathon proven million dollar earner to what I believe is his lowest level ever....a solid contender if this 8 year old feels good today

3  Dynamic Range   declining gelding was just claimed and similar to the aforementioned 2nd pick he is solid at today's level if he is relatively free of aches and pains this afternoon

race 6    below average clarity

8  Miss Marsha Lee   showed solid speed for 1/2 mile and then tired badly......that was the needed layoff run.....eye catching 5F drill since and only has to hold together 1 furlong more to be a major factor in this wide open 5F affair

3  Don't Tell Me That   as weak of figures as you will ever see in a S Cal race to be the 6-5 morning line fave......that is how soft this group appears to be on paper

6  Chana's Girl   Palma's history with 1st time starters is rather poor but he is hot and this weak bunch is screaming for anyone new that can run a little....works are decent and P Val is aboard (great gate jock and 5F race)

1  Offlee Cute  another 1st time training well enough to be dangerous in this soft spot

race 7    slightly below average clarity

3  U Turn Me Crazy   consistent sprinter on any surface appears to appreciate 5 1/2 and 6 furlongs the most......Miller is red hot and in a win mode so why not run for 25K

1  Warren's Blossom   could have been 3 for 3 lifetime if it wasn't for a poor trip 2 races back......would have been top pick if it wasn't for the fact that the trainer is cold of late

4  Serene Sophia   both lifetime sprints are par like efforts for today's level.......2 months off since her last race but training regularly

race 8    slightly above average clarity

5  Circa'sgoldengear    showed excellent speed and decent final time in 1st ever turf race.....solid work series since.....race seemingly sets up for speed

3  Absolutlypositivly   very consistent and seems to be as sharp as he has ever been......last race and the works since support this.....trouble is he loves to hang

2  Cantona   works are very solid of late and Gomez accepts the mount......both point to this laid up (10 weeks) animal being fit and ready....will need more pace up front than anticipated to show his best late kick

4  Nofty   long layoff but the works say very ready and this gelding is very well bred for the sod

9  Hittheroadrunning   decent forward move with the switch to the lawn in last.....will need another here 1st time at a route on the grass....Bejarano sticks with the horse for a 3rd straight race
