Hollywood for Thursday 16 Dec 2010
[private]
One week left at Hollywood and then it is back to "real" dirt racing on the new and hopefully improved Santa Anita main track surface. They will have their hands full maintaining the track with all of the rain in the forecast over the next 10 days.
Races 2, 3 and 4 were sure a challange to decipher thus the low rating as far as clarity is concerned. Things sure appear to be more vivid (right or wrong) in the 2nd 1/2 of the card.
Â
race 1Â Â Â slightly above average clarity
7 All Slews Star   fell off quite a bit in 2ndlifetime start but his debut race is very strong for today's lower level....Gomez accepting mount hints we will see it....bred to appreciate a route of ground
2 Call Me Later   keeps catching fast heats and competing well......drops down a notch to lowest tag ever....Rosario sticks with the colt for the 5th race in a row.....route breeding is a concern or would have been top pick
1Â Captain Shawn DÂ Â useful 5F debut....trainer is often much tougher with 2nd time starters and 1st time at a route
Â
race 2Â Â Â slightly below average clarity
3 Five A Day  improved in each start since Sherlock claimed......steps up quite a bit but last race fits fine....and might continue to move forward
1 Master Chef  laid up gelding is proven fresh and just worked very fast on the new dirt at SA....Gomez accepting also supports the idea this one is ready to roll fresh
5 Rents Paid  last 2 races aren't bad but what this gelding needs is his effort 3 races back
Â
race 3Â Â Â slightly below average clarity
6 Que Pronto   nice wire to wire wake up in last 1st with the blinkers on......looks like lone speed in here and continues to train sharply....some shot to wire once again
2 Poison Kiss  nice maiden debut win beating 11 horses......fig from that race fits fine at today's level
3 Forty Paces  2 or 3 lengths short of a couple of others in here but the very positive rider switch can make up those lengths maybe
Â
race 4Â Â Â below average clarity
5 Milliondollarbill  tepid top pick in a very difficult affair to handicap.....1st time with Koriner who is is on fire at this meeting
2 Catchy Tune  sure like her 1st grass race run on Nov 6th but not too crazy about her "Vet" scratch 3 weeks agoÂ
8 Elusive Cookies  good move forward in last and will be solid if she improves again
7 Candace Gold  will try to shake loose and wire the field 1st time with the blinkers on
Â
race 5Â Â Â Â average clarity
6 Ominous Thomas  impressive win in MSW last May at LS......good work series seems to say ready for his new barn and new racing circuit
1 Miles Long Gone  nice victory 1st out after the claim and 1st out with the blinkers on....steps up quite a bit but training better than ever and the trainer is having a good meet
3 Mr Artistic M D  odds on and won his MSW debut......continues to train well for a formidable trainer in K Walsh....shot to make it 2 for 2 lifetime
Â
race 6Â Â Â average clarity
5 Cape Truth  1st time in the Puype barn and training like an improved animal......can be very formidable on the drop into conditioned claiming
3 Booyah  solid fig in last and a big drill since......only ? mark appears to be a one turn affair for this horse used to 2 turn route racing
2 Marquet Rebel on a roll up the claiming ladder since Knapp claimed.....takes a very big step up this time after a wide margin win 1st time with the blinkers in his latest
Â
race 7Â Â Â slightly above average clarity
5 Westwood Pride  very very consistent sort and has really sharpened up since Mulhall took over the training duties...ran great versus much tougher in last 2 races
4 Bran Jammas  loves time between starts and gets it.....training like a fit and totally ready mare....strong finisher has a good chance to be a big factor late
3 Hameildaeme  yet to fire a bad race in the good old U S of A on firm turf.....laid up 11 months but proven well fresh and Gomez accepts
1 Talktoomuch  big move forward in last that fits at today's level....5 for 7 in the win column on Hollywood grass...0 for 8 elsewhere...last chance to run on the Hol course till Spring
Â
race 8Â Â Â slightly above average clarity
10 Bad Boy  going for 5 in a row all at the 8K or 10K level....Miller is red hot....20 of 26 on the board for this meeting...good chance for 5 straight wins today
4 Streets Of Heaven   also on quite a roll in his own right with 3 solid figs in a row considering this bottom claiming level
11 Dee Dee's Legacy  found about 4 lengths of trouble and still snatched 2nd after a 4 month layoff.....can move forward 2nd out after the break in the action and be very formidable
1 Majestic Diamond   turf horse has not earned his keep the last 2 years ....takes a monstrous drop in claiming price for 1st run ever on the main track after 41 turf starts...toss a coin
6 Bandeira Union  needs to move forward a couple of lengths and the cut back in distance can help...last and only winning effort in 2010 came at today's 6 1/2 furlong distance
