Santa Anita for Monday 27 Dec 2010

[private]

Track records galore on the new surface yesterday. Much too early to draw any conclusions. Track should have less moisture today. Will that slow things up? We will see. Card seems better today. Be back on Weds. Best of luck and thanks for the business.

race 1    average clarity  (off the turf selections:  2, 8, 6, 9 )

2  Uncle Sam   well bred for a route on the turf or the dirt and this expensive 1st timer is training up to snuff for Mr Bob Baffert

8  Fusa Code   strong 1 turn dirt mile in last on the dirt at CD....good pace as well......bred adequately to handle the grass

6  Special Kid   had multiple trouble in lone turf endeavor or could have been much closer at the wire....that race also produced 2 next out winners

9  Burns   best set of drills for a Abrams 1ster in quite some time

race 2    slightly above average clarity

3  All Due Respect   substantial speed here with solid staying power.....proven on non-synthetic surfaces

2  Downhill Diva   late runner has never been sharper and seemingly gets a lively pace to close into.....1st ever on "real dirt" ???

race 3    slightly above average clarity

7  K K's Bro   lost an average of 6 1/2 lengths in last 2 races with lousy trips.....very solid record on conventional dirt...hidden

1  Big Revolution   has caught 3 good fields in 3 lifetime races....drops for the red hot Miller barn....trainer means business

4  Three Pointer   done little wrong in 5 lifetime races and just worked super on the turf for a cheap animal...might be extremely fit

6  Ribald   earned a decent fit off of the long hiatus from the track with a bad trip-a-roo....gets a very positive rider switch

race 4    average clarity

6  Kate's Event    shuffled back and ran a little wide in MSW debut last....should learn from the experience especially with Rosario sticking around for another ride...excellent recent 6F works

9  Red Scare   strong tightly spaced work tab says ready to roll for this Gaines 1st timer

3  Fleet Continental   flashed some very solid pace and then tired in last in his MSW debut.....cuts back 1/2 F and should be a fitter animal for 2nd time run...dangerous speed

5  Handride   can't remember the last time I selected a horse from this trainers stock but this 1ster is trainer like a runner

race 5    average clarity   (off the turf selections:  7, 5, 10, 4)

5  Magic Launch   controlling speed in a race full of late runners and P Val at the helm

2  Patsy's Lil Buddy   consistent late running grass individual seems to appreciate today's 1 mile distance...good history back quick like today

4  Melbisha   freshened up with a reassuring work regiment and back to Rosario who gets the most out of the filly

7  Warren's Got Game   nice animal on the AW is bred OK to handle the sod.....needed layoff run in last

race 6    average clarity

11  Mary Strong   seems to prefer conventional dirt over the AW by a wide margin.....beat the fave by 7 at Fpx last Fall....just popped a bullet a week ago on the SA surface screaming that she's happy to be off the AW

4  Lost Prophet  solid races in last 2 efforts both pace and final time

10  Dreams Afleet   another with solid history on non-synthetic surfaces.....closer seemingly gets enough pace to fire into

13  Our Bellini Bikini   far outside but maybe able to get over some and get a good stalking position

race 7    average clarity

1  Teddy's Promise   crushed foes in last 2 races sprinting....hand ride easy in finish in last suggests there will be lots of horse left for a big run today

4  Screaming Regal   poor trip in last hides a good forward move......still a maiden but fits if he gets a good trip

3  California Nectar   as proven a runner as any in here....obviously a factor if he handles the "real" dirt (sand)

race 8    average clarity   (off turf selections:  4, 2, 9, 3)

1  Proudinski   extremely consistent animal who consistently fires "par" like figures for this lofty level of grass racing

2  Unusual Suspect   our 10 to 1 top pick in the Grade 1 Holtrfcp fits well if he has held his form...would be more reassuring if we saw more morning work

3  The Usual Q. T.   terrific turf animal but sure hasn't been showing much in the morning of late...still...might be fit enough

5  Violon Sacred   big rider switch and a race under his belt in her new environment...high likelihood of much better today

race 9    average clarity

5  Chana's Girl   lost approximately 7 lengths in mc debut and only got beat 4......better trip from P Val and she should take this affair

10  Homework   nothing but a turf workout/tightener in last....race 3 back would be solid here

4  Sweet Consilidator   decent spot for a GG invader.....not exactly a strong local bunch

7  One More Palo   good speed and a positive rider switch...needs to improve staying power a little

9  Exponential    1st timer is showing some life in morning and as I said...not a powerful group
