Santa Anita for Sunday 30 Jan 2011

Not too shabby of a card to finish what has been a nice week of racing especially for many of our customers.

As I said a few days ago I'm feeling good about our prospects of doing well with our handicapping on the new Santa Anita surface. Time will tell.

race 1    slightly above average clarity

3  Bella Palooza   very solid move forward 1st time on conventional dirt in latest.....wide with a pace factor

1  Gladiatrix   set a solid pace in winning her 2nd lifetime start....solid drill since and Baffert is winning at an obscene rate

6  Seachi   won mc debut last despite being blocked about 4 lengths.....mid pack runner may get a lively pace to close into

2  Brown Is Beige   won 2F affair showing plenty of early gas way back in sharply and as if she is still very quick early....dangerous Bonde charge

race 2    average clarity

1  Booyah    work tab strongly suggests we can get a rebound to this runners effort 2 races back which is quite good

3  Concerto's Thunder   good history turf to AW and bred fine to handle the dirt so I'm looking for a solid run today turf to dirt...on or close to the lead...hangs but last win came wire to wire

4  Warren's Tony R.   last was the sprint gimme to be full bore today at a route....1 win and 2 seconds in 3 lifetime conventional dirt races

race 3    average clarity

3  If You Do I Sue   trainer Reed is very capable with a mc 1st timer....drills look good and seemingly a good sign Bejarano accepts the mount

2  Magic Mama   good foundation for endurance put into this 1ster with 4 consecutive 6F works in 4 weeks time

1  Jocabita   good closely spaced work series for this 1st time starter hinting at some early speed

8  Woodman's Lass   went quite a bit south in last....needs a rebound back to her 9 Dec race.....not sure she is up to it ?????

race 4    average clarity

4  Magic Launch   like everything about this lawn mower except for one thing....why isn't P Val aboard after 2 straight wins on the horse....over the years I've mostly shot myself in the foot over worrying about who rides who so..........I'm going to ignore it

2  Hameildaeme   1 for 1 on the hill and it came with a low % rider up....Gomez up here...right to improve 2nd run after the long layoff

1  Glory Pride   won her last....1st ever on the SA hill course....claimed by O'Neill......puts Bejarano aboard who is winning riding for O'Neill at a 35% clip the last couple of months

6  Folk Dancer    possibly clears this bunch early and that is a dangerous thing with P Val up

race 5    slightly above average clarity

7  Toro Trippi   improved pace and final time in as if he greatly appreciates the new SA surface...should be on or near the lead from the get go with a good bootin and scootin speed rider aboard

2  Swiss Arrogant   1 for 1 at the distance....2 for 2 on conventional dirt

3  Thrice The Vice   also likes "real" dirt.....earned a decent adjusted for trouble fig in last with a wide trip

4  Milty Way   last 2 races aren't much but efforts 3 and/or 4 races back fit fine

race 6    slightly below average clarity

4  Vote Of Approval    needed last...blinkers on to help focus and maybe sit closer....dull race yielding turf....good race firm's always sunny in California

6  Make It Cozy   only turf race (run last Summer) was versus a solid key group of animals

5  Miles Long Gone   1st ever on the sod but adequate pedigree to handle it...owns some speed...might live of to his name

1  Runaway Wildcat   nice wake up in last and a very solid 4F drill just 4 days ago says sharp-a-roo....1st on the sod but bred OK for it

race 7    slightly above average clarity

8  Switch   continues to train and run like something very special...hard to be as proven at 7 furlongs as she is

2  Mother Ruth  mare has a solid history of making forward moves 2nd out after a layoff like today and just worked a power bullet 5/8ths drill...and that Baffert guy trains

4  Sweet August Moon   consistent hard trying mare will need very best maybe best ever to pull the upset...did win a Grade 2 at odds of 13 to 1 last Summer

3  Pica Slew   clobbered foes in Flordia....bombed at Saratoga...many inexplicably barn....long as if ready off of the bench

race 8    average clarity

9  Southern Fireball    hope the barn gets it this time.....wanted this filly to run at another and not go to the front in her last....she has been very competitive just off the pace and a disaster on the lead....blinkers off say they plan to chase....1 for 1 on the hill (chasing) and it was a solid fig considering it was in early Spring of her 3 year old campaign

4  Givine    French invader comes to the U S of A with 5 wins in 8 races....Canani has her seeminglywound up and ready to roll....filly is 2 for 2 fresh...fresh today

5  Reba Is Tops    talk about a hard mare to make as my 3rd choice....I love the way she runs down the hill but thought she didn't finish so well late in last considering the good trip she got......might be back a little too quick but if she still is as sharp she will be the one to beat

8  Subsidized   consistent runner on the AW or the dirt....1st ever on the sod but bred to love it......on the white hot Baffert man trains

race 9    average clarity

2  Tuesdays With P    sat close to fast fractions in last....race lack significant speed types so this 2nd time in the Baffert barn may get loose or at least be the controlling speed

3  Beautifully Sunday   not much more to say then 5 wide in a 5 horse race in her MSW debut and got beat by only 2 lengths......good chance to be a beautiful Sunday for her connections

9  Bauble Queen   exits a very fast MSW heat where she broke a little slow and ran a little wide.....very solid contender if Talamo gives a better trip this time in her 2nd lifetime start

8  Gonelikeahurricane   showed fairly decent speed in her MSW debut last.....seemingly a good spot for speed.....solid contender if moves forward just a little and most Shirreffs stock does in their 2nd lifetime run

4  My Diane   continues to train like a runner in the mornings....failed on the turf....failed on the AW.....hello dirt???? run today or hello claimer in next
