Santa Anita for Friday 4 Feb 2011
[private]
Early post on Sunday because of the Super Bowl (ouch I'm a Bears Fan) so the selections will be available no later than 8 am Pacific time on Sunday.Â
Â
Average card at best today. At first glance we have 2 good playable cards this weekend
Â
race 1Â Â Â slightly above average clarity
1 Ranchero  Baffert 1st timer is bred to be a good sprinter and has 4 solid gate drills to finish his work load....meant and ready
2 Brace Yourselves  excellent return to the race wars in last off of a long layoff....3 works since is reassuring...rather sure will show even more today
4 Sacred Oath  another Baffert 1sterall wound up and seemingly ready to roll
6 Tap It In  Ellis charge showed substantial early speed after a slightly tardy start....training sharply on the new SA surface...should show more in 2nd lifetime start
Â
race 2Â Â Â average clarity
4 Our Bellini Bikini  hard to argue with 3 wins and 4 2nd's in last 7 starts.....love the 4 lbs off on the small class rise...barn is stellar with very short rest (7 days in this case)
2 Sleep Tight  drops way down for 1st run after a long layoff....very competitive sort so that's a big plus if her health is good enough to compete here versus easier
3 Miss Peanut  small drop should help compete....seemingly owns the best early speed and might get away
Â
race 3Â Â Â average clarity
6 Yodelen Dan  very solid on Top Turf Today at the 1 1/4 to 1/2 distance fig wise....best drill worked in awhile since his last race
4 Tiz Argent  2nd to a next out winner in last....ran well at 1 1/8th in last...doubt the 1 1/4 will be much of a problem
1 Control Seeker  just claimed by a stellar 1st out after the claim outfit.....no chance in last blocked/checked a half dozen or so lengths...blinkers on seems like a good move...horse has run best when in the hunt from the get go
Â
race 4Â Â Â below average clarity
2 Magical Eclipse  prolonged tightly spaced work series suggests she is all wound up and ready for her debut into the world of thoroughbred racing
7 Brooklyn Rose  bred to appreciate conventional dirt and training well enough to be considered ready for her mc debut
4 Pink Blanket  Glatt is a low % trainer with mc 1sters but this filly is training as if she owns some dangerous early speed
6 Top Debutante  training fairly well mostly at Tup but more importantly she comes from a good family...mom has tossed 3 SW's winners in 3 foals...also very dangerous
Â
race 5Â Â Â average clarity
4 Siberian Heart  trainer is solid back in very short rest....earned a solid fig in last on the dirt with a wide trip just 6 days ago.....proven on sod
2 Hot Citizen  3rd after the layoff is a positive...and drops a couple of notches....very competitive sort...good likelihood competes here
6 Lilly's Perfect  multiple trouble in last hides her effort....has shown ability on the sod in the past
5 Five Silver Stars  decent turf sprintin last...now needs to do it around 2 turns ??
 Â
race 6Â Â Â average clarity
7 Havens Lake  sure took to the new SA with a solid wide run....needs time between races for best and the barn shows patience and gives it to herÂ
4 Cato Major  another coming off a solid wide trip...claimed and drops??? tough call health wise but a ton if the same animal as last
5 Sipnzin  very fast early and only has to hang on for 5 1/2 F...can pull this off if jock saves sometime for the last 1/2 F
2 Sweet And Jazzy  off 7 weeks but training sharply...can get a nice chase position behind a suspect front runner in our 3rd pick
Â
race 7Â Â Â average clarity
7 Regally Ready  very solid grass sprinter should benefit off of his solid 3rd place finish on the SA hill
3 Sayif  solid sprinter on the turf overseas....training exceptionally well and is proven fresh
4 Dilemma  impressive 1st ever on the hill at SA in his last....does pick up 5 lbs or would have rated higherÂ
5 Gallant Son has done little wrong on the turf in 5 lifetime starts....has run well in sprints on the AW....fits unless this is just a tune-up for bigger and better things down the road
Â
race 8Â Â Â average clarity
9 Jeffrey's Groove  chased a solid pace in last and earned his best fig ever.....real tough to beat if fires back to back efforts
2 Johnnie Gold  broke 3 slow and ran wide andstill only lost by 3 lengths at today's level.....a ton if repeats the effort with a cleaner trip-a-roo
5 Breakmark  flattens at 6 and 6 1/2 F so the cut back in distance to 5 1/2 seems like a good fit...P Val can sit in a nice chase position
10 Smokin Bomb  all his races run on main track surfaces with lasix fit fine here
8 Rage On  horrendous trip in last off of a long layoff...toss it out...good work since...race at Fpx in Sept of 2010 fits.....not impossible at possible triple digit odds
