Santa Anita for Saturday 12 Feb 2011

[private]

We sure are on a roll blowing the doors off of all the other California selection services this Santa Anita meeting. I like the synthetics, but so far I love conventional dirt. Hope we can keep the good times rolling. Card is fairly good.

race 1    average clarity

3  T. K. Fortysix   distance experience and Hollendorfer usually means business dropping out of MSW to Mdn claiming..reassuring work series too

8  Money Included   wide trip in last and earned a lifetime best effort....draws the difficult outermost post again but gets an extra 1/16 to attempt to get over and save some ground on 1st turn

4  Star Navigator   another taking the ever significant drop out of MSW....owns good speed here so you know P Val will send early

7  Seeking Solace   another trainer with solid history dropping out of MSW races....only needs a small move forward and surely has the connections to accomplish the task

race 2    average clarity

2  Elle Dehere   private purchase by higher % trainer and a major jock upgrade...believe we will see best ever

6  Ruby Lane   should be on or near what looks like a reasonable pace here.....consistent sort and Flores rides her well

3  Ascot's Highflyer   improved efforts with the blinkers on in last 2 races albeit on the AW.....only grass race was fine...1st grass run with blinkers

race 3    slightly above average clarity

3  Albergatti   earned a very powerful fig in debut....that race duplicated would be hard to beat and better.....!!!!!!!

5  Indian Knight   Baffert charge is training like all systems are go for this colt's MSW debut....bred to be a good sprinter

2  My Dividend   1ster hasn't missed a beat in the morning hitting the track every 6 days to work for 6 straight weeks...good foundation to handle 7F in his 1st start

8  Purely Awesome   very strong drills for a 1ster from someone like K Walsh who doesn't push her babies too hard...sure seems ready

race 4    average clarity

7  Team Builder   last looks a needed effort off of the layoff...blinkers on to help focus...bred fine to get a route

1  Unknown Heat   whole career figure wise on Top Turf Today overwhelms these but 0 for 26 lifetime...major hanger......we did have a hanger win yesterday also our 2nd pick...could happen again

6  Bila Shaka   showed some run and tired late.....needs to improve off that run and fits in the weak looking bunch if she does

4  Nana Beach   turf sprint in last fits....few signs wants two turns in running lines but is bred well to go a route of ground

race 5    average clarity

7  Bullfighter   the 3 three times this gelding ran "fresh" they were very solid efforts...fresh today

3  Mensa Heat   wide fairly close to very fast pace and only got beat by 5 lengths...now drops a little in price and gets a much better post to work with...should go off at double digit odds

5  Positive Force   last was just OK but there was some moisture in the track and it might have compromised his chances.....good work series since and Gomez accepts another shot on the 7 year old

1  Jack O' Lantern   long hiatus from the track but sure worked a blistering 4F drill.....might appreciate switch to conventional dirt...dangerous sort

race 6    slightly above average clarity

4  Tapizar   earned powerful figs in last 2 races on 2 different tracks and few reasons not to believe he can't repeat those efforts...major Kentucky Derby hopeful

2  Anthoy's Cross   blinkers on and training like he appreciates the equipment change.....

6  Riveting Reason   well proven at this level...blinkers off....seems like the barn wants this one to take back more...like his races when he does

race 7    average clarity

6  Red Alert Day   blinkers off to save some gas when it counts....owns many figs on Top Turf Today that fit big here...although those figs were run at a route...still only lost by 1 at this distance in last and the equipment change can make the difference

5  Cherokee Heaven   best races are back in 5 weeks or less and those races fit well....back in 4 weeks!

3  My Summer Slew   1 for 1 on the SA hill course and is training as if he is very sharp for this affair

2  Burj Dubai   not too shabby with the blinkers off in last...but...ran well with them on his whole career...blinkers back on today

race 8    average clarity

5  Zardana   sure likes conventional dirt....good chance gets good position on or near the lead in what should be a very reasonable pace

1  St. Trinians   excellent history fresh and Mitchell knows it....the ? is the "real dirt".....yet to run or work on it and not exactly bred for it....connections will have their fingers crossed because this is one nice mare on the AW...gave Zenyatta a major challenge

7  It Tiz   believe they will go after the front end and shoot for the ever dangerous wire to wire win

3  Washington Bridge   had this horse as our top pick (both wins at 5 to 1)  in her last two races...but high weight here and has something to prove on conventional dirt...still...a very nice Stakes filly

race 9    slightly above average clarity

4  Wave Of Applause   2 very powerful turf races versus better....barn is giving this filly a confidence booster back in against alw. horses

1  Scarlet Starlet   in good form and 1 for 1 on the lawn...blinkers off to reserve her energy some for the important late stages

6  Orangeblackandgold   will need best ever or a very clean grounding saving trip to take this...his the connections to make that happen

5  Star Presence   Baffert charge is proven 2 turns on the main track and is bred well to handle the turf

race 10    average clarity

4  Swongs   sure hope this competent closer (who also shows speed at times) takes back in this field with too manny speed types....bad trip in last...acted up at gate 2 back---toss it out....bad trip 3 back...big drill 5 days ago out of nowhere...might feel real good and can go off double digit odds

1  Zulu King   50 to 1 then 60 to 1 in alw says nice workouts....plenty of early gas to put in a good close

2  Wild Hombre   both SA races fit fine....Pedroza needs to avoid a speed duel with others...horse is capable of rating

8  Warren's Warehouse   cheap animal is getting good fast since his switch to conventional dirt.....also is a closer in a race that screams late runners

11  Peacock Alliance   no shot in last acted up badly at the gate.....but claimed that day for 25K now in for 12.5K.....hmmmmm...toss a coin
