Santa Anita for Sunday 20 Feb 2011

Race 4 is most likely off the turf with all the rain and the fact there are 4 grass races carded for Monday. Hope the track dries out and plays fair.
race 1 average clarity
1 Torrey Cliffs significant drop and the races seemingly sets for her closing style
3 Brooke's Fantasy clunker in last but gets enough recovery time...might be speed of the speed
6 Dextera long overdo drop to earn his keep and bring in a few bucks
race 2 average clarity
4 Wholelotacongrats back in short rest is a big positive for the trainer......should be prominent from the start....and only 5 furlongs
6 Preferred Mandate only race that is solid here was lone run on an off track....decent shot to have some moisture in it today
5 Reggiano 1ster is training up to snuff and trains as if he has some speed...have to like that in a speed friendly 5F affair
race 3 slightly above average clarity
7 Syllabus whole 4 race career fits solidly here.....drops again buy why not it worked in his last race
8 Dee Dee's Legacy 2 nice positives...appears best at 6F and seems to prefer conventional dirt
2 Flashmans Papers consistent sort and a small logical drop
6 Destinys Roar race 2 back run at 6 furlongs fits fine here....will that effort or better to get to the winners circle
race 4 average clarity (off the turf picks are as follows: 4-3-1-7)
7 Bring It Home trainer is so much better 2nd after layoff and this gelding has some solid turf figs on Top Turf Today
4 Rauschenberg on the right end of the learning curve and just drilled a very fast grass work for a guy like Marty Jones
1 Sterling Outlook sprint grass sprinter has a good shot at getting loose....Gomez will try to rate.....get the 2 turns ....and wire
10 Dahound good grass horse and proven on softer turf....difficult post to overcome
race 5 slightly above average clarity
4 Piney River fired a solid number in last both pace and final time wise
3 Swiss Charm clunker in last....debut 2 back fits decently...blinkers on to get back to that effort
7 Running Isabella solid work tab and decently bred
8 Warren's Today good works and it is a good sign that Bejarano is aboard this 1ster....my guess is he is ready...new sire...barn will want a good showing
race 6 average clarity
3 Girlwithegoldhoof 0 for 6 in the win col. on the AW...2 for 2 in the win col. on the dirt...3 reassuring drills since her last
1 Lost Prophet caught way too wide in last......good chance to be on the lead here....brave sort on the front end
2 To The Batcave good opportunity to sit in a good stalking position
6 Dinner With Nikki C nice move forward 2nd out after the layoff....one more move in the right direction and he should be a stout contender
race 7 slightly below average clarity
2 Alpine Echo nice work tab for a very reliable trainer when she shows good drills
8 Maggie Mcgowan sharp drill for a guy like O'Neill with a 1st timer...rather sure this filly is well meant in her debut
5 Beautiful Year solid set of works for this 1st timer...put some speed into her and then some nice foundation....sure seems ready
6 Alala decent debut in an mc claimer and steps up into MSW.....works are better and the trainer has a good history with such a maneuver
race 8 slightly above average clarity
7 The Factor crushed foes 1st ever on conventional dirt and is now training terrifically for the ever reliable Bob Baffert
3 Sway Away earned a very solid adjusted for trouble fig when last seen in August....hard to train much better...sure seems ready fresh off of the bench today
8 Premier Pegasus small but very capable barn trains this colt who has done nothing wrong in 3 lifetime starts
5 Indian Winter closer hoping for a battle up front and should be a factor late if he gets it
race 9 average clarity
3 Rolling Tide capable of significant early pace and this is a 5F affair...enough said
1 Sparrow claimed way back in Summer by Sadler...long wait but he's back and the works say he is ready...only lifetime run fits fine here
