Santa Anita for Thursday 3 March 2011

[private]

Decent looking card to start another week of racing at beautiful Santa Anita. Wish I was there!

race 1    average clarity

6  Money Lover    good chance to sit in a good stalk position...laid up awhile but he's up for 25K so I believe he will be ready fresh

7  Jax El   in sharp form and appears to be speed of the speed in this spot

1  West Ruler    2 for 2 in sprints on the AW and decently bred for the sod.....3 speed types in a 7 horse affair might set things up nicely for this late runner

race 2    slightly below average clarity

1  Nisus   one year away from racing but training as if he is very sharp and ready fresh off of the bench for his new trainer

6  Gaelic Glory   back in short rest off of only a 5F race is usually a good thing

2  Santa's Love   on the right end of the learning curve at GG....trainer is capable when he ships to S Cal

8  R. E. King   somewhat sketchy work pattern for this 1st timer but on the other hand he sure has popped some solid works for this lowly level

race 3    average clarity

4  Where's The Remote   solid animal for this 62.5K level....very solid work series suggest Mitchell is all business

6  Worth Repeating   ditto for this Mandella charge

5  Falcon Rock   another awfully nice animal for this level....$50K purse seems to have enticed 3 solid runners to compete in a high priced claimer...blinkers on to help this marathon specialist sit closer in a shorter 1 1/8 mile affair

race 4    average clarity

4  Ranchero   good MSW debut for this Baffert charge and 2 reassuring drills since...bred to possess solid sprint capabilities

7  He's So Stylish   private purchase here and Hollendorfer is usually stellar 1st out in this situation

3  Screaming Destiny   owns good sprint speed on the AW...major factor today if he responses well to the new SA surface

5  Britt's Brother   Guillot barn is more then capable with a 1st timer and this fellow has some strong drills

race 5    average clarity

7  Rule The Storm   very competitive sort when she is able to sit on or near the front end and she should be able to get that desired position today

9  Beautiful American   lead type only will need our top choice to take back and chase and I believe she will....has run solid races when loose at today's 1 mile distance on the grass

1  Entabeni   late runner will have fingers crossed that both of our top picks will knock heads early

2  Elle Pickle   deep closer looks as if she may have had 2 tune-ups off of a long layoff and now drops and will be at full throttle today at a very big price

race 6    average clarity

5  American Wildcat   GG invader just worked an eye popping 4 furlongs suggesting he will love the switch to conventional dirt

3  Ominous Thomas   bit of a suspicious drop but a major factor if he is healthy enough to preform at about 80% of his previous  ability

7  Edgewick Road   competitive sort finally gets a top echelon jockey in Rosario...good history at today's 25K claiming level

4  Ohana Spirit   N Cal invader is 1 for 1 on conventional dirt......seemingly  ample pace in this affair and that should help his closing style

race 7    slightly above average clarity

6  Rauschenberg    very nice grass horse should be able to sit close up in a race seemingly set for those near the front...bad trip in last hides his sharp form some

2  Hughesy    all 4 of his lifetime turf races run around 2 turns sure look good on Top Turf Today performance ratings

9  Dahoud   owns enough early speed to possibly be able to clear from his far outside post.....good shot to go all the way if Rosario can make that happen

7  Rule Breaker   broke slowly in U S of A debut....owned speed in GB and this would be a good spot to show it here

race 8    average clarity

2  Titian   solid last and claimed by O'Neill....strong drill for new barn....maybe sitting on lifetime best today

5  Semper Augustus   very strong drills for a trainer like Walsh who doesn't push her 1sters too hard...rather sure ready to roll 1st out of the box

4  Super J. D.   Periban charge is training like he will be at full throttle for his debut into the world of thoroughbred racing

8  Bryan Daniel   solid 1st ever on conventional dirt in his latest...that race fits fine and any move forward would only be icing on the cake

7  Kemper County   out of a very good producing broodmare and training like he is ready in his mc claimer debut
