Santa Anita for Thursday 10 March 2011
[private]
Keep on eye on the track today. Somewhat of an outside bias the past weekend. Only a couple of horses won from the 1, 2, or 3 post. Hope we get back to a neutral surface. If it keeps up we will start to play for an outside bias but not just yet. I will of course tell you when we do. Best of luck today.
Â
race 1Â Â Â average clarity
1 Royal Mango  only a small drop in claiming but a significant drop in competition....should be able to sit close in a race seemingly set for those close up early
5 Oh How Nice  decent series of 3 works since last especially for an old timer like Van Berg......race 3 back is strong...race 6 back is strong.....hmmmm
2 Capt. Sparrow  just claimed and wheeled right back in a route....quite a few question marks to go off favorite....switch to Rosario is a positive especially for a Carava runner
Â
race 2Â Â Â average clarity
6 Love Theway Youare  both lifetime route races with the blinkers off are solid.....7 furlong run in last looks like a tightener
2 Around The Twig  scratched this past weekend for this race....powerful 1st at a route of ground in latestÂ
1 Seekitana  useful sprint tune-up and a good series of drills since.......rather sure moves forward and can contend today
Â
race 3Â Â Â average clarity
3 Polished Nickel  very strong 1st ever on conventional (also 1st time blinkers) dirt in winning his last......that race repeated should win this affair......of some concern....vet scr 11 FebÂ
1, 1a Runaway Wildcat  seems like a good claim of an improving horse by a trainer that can get it done 1st run after a claim.....the 1a also has a shotÂ
2 Call Me Later  nice history at 6 1/2 & 7 furlongs.....big move forward in last......steps up quite a bit but seems sharp and ready for the challenge
Â
race 4Â Â Â average clarity
8 Jakey Boy  par like run in last....monumental rider change might be worth 4 or 5 lengths on improvement...a ton if the same horse todayÂ
7 Slews Dark Knight  hot trainer rider/team and good works for this 1st timer suggest N French might break the mold (1sters not his forte) and be ready to roll with a horse fresh out of the box
2 Warren's Tommy Too  only 2 lifetime races run on conventional dirt fit for this 5 year old gelding....yikes...have I really selected 2 Van Berg horses today in my top 3 picks?
6 K. Jems  bad trip in debut which was run 8 weeks ago.....subtle positive rider switch.....a better trip and a little more horse and a better jock = a shot to an upset
Â
race 5Â Â Â average clarity
7 Bogie  needed last and prefers a little more ground to work with......Gomez fits deep closers on the turf running at the 1 1/8 th mile distance
8Â Dubai X Y ZÂ Â love his mid/chasing running style and he has a great opportunity to sit behind a very suspect leader in the 6 horse
3 Hyades  laid up since mid Summer.....not sure if he is fully cranked up but lookout if he is....owns some overwhelming back numbers on Top Turf Today the quintessential service for S Cal grass racing
1 Universal Peace excellent record when fresh and that is the case today
Â
race 6Â Â Â slightly below average clarity
2 Go Sophia  trainer is showing signs of awakening and won with a dropping maiden the other day very similar to this entry...2 conventional dirt races fit well in this spot
8 Lake Osceola  last 3 racing endeavors fit well....track was somewhat outside the whole weekend....nice post if bias continues
4 She's All Yours  not much at all in 2 lifetime races run last Summer...but....training like a vastly improved animal....invading trainer Kory Owens has been sending out fit horse for the most part
5 Lindz Winz  bred to have some early speed and this 1ster just blew out an impressive 3F bullet gate work to finish of his work regiment the right way....especially for a 5F affair
Â
race 7Â Â Â average clarity
1 Celestic Night   plenty of speed types in this race can set things up for this late runner....solid jockey change especially for a late runner down the hill
8 Speed Bias  impressive stalk of a very fast pace and still won at a slightly lower level.......that race fits well here if he can duplicate the run in his 1st ever on the sod......pedigree says he might
10 Diamond Geezah  mega wake up in last 1st time with the blinkers on...somewhat surprised he is up for claiming even at the lofty 80K level but after all it is M Mitchell who is not afraid to lose a horse
7 D'pendable  hard paced duel on the sod at 5F at 2 and still won a MSW debut last Summer......long hiatus from the races but training as if he is all set to compete for the win once again
Â
race 8Â Â Â average clarity
2 Express Herself  best set of drills for a Dollase mc 1ster in many a moon and not exactly a tough group to handle
9 No Apology only race ever run at 5F (albeit on the turf) is solid at the m30k level
8 Warren's Genius  decent start for new sire....and broodmare isn't bad....works are good enough....1ster maybe ready 1st out of the box...bold name for the owner and he may want to live of to it
3 Together Websetter  useful debut and a strikingly good work since...more today likely
1 Katelyn N' Jenna  showed little in mc debut....but I expect Mitchell/Talamo will show more today or the horse would have dropped to Mc20K  not mc30KÂ
