Santa Anita for Friday 11 March 2011

[private]

Track was playing fair yesterday.

Make sure you have the correct race day because Saturday's will also be posted sometime today.

race 1    average clarity

2  Flashy Green   blocked on the turn in 1st ever on conventional dirt in his latest or competes for the win...basically whole career fits fine here

1  Fire In The Wind   placed well over his head in last...call it a tune-up....race 2 back fits fine

3  My Johnny Cash   running at cheaper venues but very consistent.....trainer wins at a 33 % clip over the last few years but is 0 for 6 so for at SA....he's due

race 2    slightly above average clarity

3  Alala   decent debut and then ran a very strong 2nd lifetime race on the main track....bred very nicely to appreciate sprint turf racing

1  Nana Beach   formful sort appears to be peaking as indicated by a strong recent 4 furlong drill......might be sitting on her lifetime best

4  Warren's City Art   not much in MSW debut run way back in Oct......but training like a much improved sort.....decent turf pedigree

6  Tribal Beauty   showed a small touch of life in her 1st turf run 4 weeks ago......will need quite a bit more today if she wants to compete for the winners circle

race 3    average clarity

2  Dee Dee's Legacy   ultra consistent low level claimer didn't seem to fin the off track to his liking....toss it out....good reassuring recent drill supports this

4  Beyond Loaded   way way wide in last when last seen on New Years Day....good fresh history

1  Flashmans Papers   very consistent animal on conventional dirt....and more importantly 3 for 4 at today's distance

8  High Perch   15 to 1 in layoff last suggests this gelding wasn't fully cranked up in his last...seems highly likely we see more and maybe enough horse today

race 4    average clarity

6  Big Shot Syd   not much more to say then 2 wins and 1 2nd (by a nose) in 4 non-Stakes races on the turf all at today's distance...also a jockey upgrade

3  Red Eye Express  appreciates the front end and looks like he can get it here....last looks like a nice tune-up

1  Ryehill Dreamer   off 2 months but training like an improved horse......has never been this far but is sure bred to get the distance or more

race 5    slightly above average clarity

5  Shezabigbroad   best set of drills I can recall for a Puype filly State-bred MSW 1st timer in many a moon...sure seems like a good one according to her work regiment

8  Excessively Trick   blinkers on today and training like a much improved filly.....new trainer takes over and has a shot to be 1 for 1

7  Finish Rich In Nyc   fell off in last but gets plenty of time to right the ship....owns some past strong races many of which are somewhat hidden efforts

3  Brave Journey   OK debut and will need to move forward and get a good trip to compete for the top prize in this spot

race 6    average clarity

2  Asperity   2 for 2 since Sadler took over the training and the recent terrific drills suggest 3 for 3 is a good possibility...also seems to love the 1 mile distance on the sod

7  Kris Silver   much improved work tab of late and Hollendorfer smartly steps this seven year old up a notch

4  Red Alert Day   somewhat overdo drop puts this gelding in a spot he can excel.......trainer is good 3rd out after a layoff so it sure looks like...sprint....sprint....go in a route

1  Stoneside   been sprinting for quite some time but is proven at 1 mile on the grass....exits a somewhat key race

race 7    average clarity

7  El Martillo    keeps flattening late at a 1 1/16....cut back to 1 mile looks like a real good fit...and most importantly exits an alw race where the winner came back to win the SA Hcp

2  Uh Oh Bango   last was a very solid sprint prep off of the 10 month layoff for this quality Owens horse.....1 mile is also a good fit for this colt

6  Sterling Outlook    appears to be a "lead type only" and he has a shot to clear and get what he needs

race 8    average clarity

1A  Judy's My Angel   plenty of foundation put into this Warren 1st timer...and then finished off his work series with a solid 4 furlong gate work...sure seems ready for debut run

11  She Can Roar   best set of works for a Becerra 1st timer in quite some time...rather sure meant and ready

2  Benicia Beauty   3 lifetime races run and the only the one that stands out is her lone endeavor on convention dirt

10  Line One   only lifetime race was run last August and it wasn't bad...sure seems ready off of a prolonged tightly spaced wind me up series of drills

7  Zee Chris  taken back a little in last (1st time Rosario) and it made for a forward move......that race fits and any move forward would be icing on the cake
