Santa Anita for Saturday 2 April 2011
[private]
Good Saturday card today. Best of luck!
race 1 average clarity
4 She's Very Rare claimed for 20K and drops into 12.5K off of some decent works suggest this horse is just another Mitchell animal placed to win and not a bad claim...we'll see
1 Tripped The Light race lacks speed and this mare has a little...so...you know P Val will send and have this mare in good position near or on the front end
2 Gato Major last is strong....but.....very consistent sort looks a little compromised by a lack of speed types...still very dangerous
7 Too Pink
race 2 slightly above average clarity
4 Dazzling Display solid pace and final time in lone race run last Summer....Baffert has put some dazzling drills into her...bred to be a talented sprinter
3 Jaredella poor trips in both lifetime efforts are much better then they appear in print...gets new rider today
1 Sea Song's Grace consistently good works from Baff for this 1ster...what's new?
race 3 average clarity
1 Absolutlypositivly likes ample time between starts and his trainer shows patience and gives it to him....nice win going away in last with the blinkers back on
2 Burns scenario is: after 2 nice races on the main track this gelding sat too far off the pace in 1st endeavor on the lawn and then tried to run on the sod with only 5 days rest......bred for the grass and can show it today
3 Dontmesroundwitjim only 2 speed horses (#7 is the other) in this affair and if either of them gets away they will be very dangerous
7 Excelling
race 4 slightly below average clarity
1 Broken Dreams very consistent sort almost upset Unzip Me down the hill......and is training extremely well...lone dirt race run at GP is better then it looks on paper
5 Gilded Gem always seems to fire for Baffert and loves the 6 1/2 furlong distance
6 Silver Swallow hard trying mare ran well when most of the Headley's stock wasn't firing much...Headley is back to winning his fair share...nice works..looks like he's putting some speed into her
race 5 average clarity
7 A Moment In Time needed last and I love the drills since...also get a jockey upgrade....sharp and ready for very best
1a Tribal Nation good grass races last year.....deep closer is basically fresh after tossing his jock at the start in layoff last......proven he can run fresh almost winning MSW debut with very low % rider up
9 Visual Intensity dirt race 2 back is very solid versus these...but in lone turf race (his last race) he blew an easy lead and lost by a nose
8 Warren's Big Cat
race 6 average clarity
5 Joyful Success best set of drills for a laid up cheap Miller horse in sometime....ready...bred to handle conventional dirt
7 Flashy Green plenty of spped in this affair sets things up nicely for his late running style
4 Five Star Fortune shipper seems like the best animal in the field but he may have to overcome a nasty duel for the lead
1 Toro Trippi
race 7 slightly above average clarity
2 Manhattan Beach very rank early and then ran wide and only got beat by 4....Martin Garcia will be out to make amends
4 Bella Roja extremely strong figs down the hill on The Racing Digest's Top Turf Today (soon to go on sale on the The Racing Digest Website)...would easily have been top pick if it wasn't for her lack of early speed in a race lacking it
5 El Nadia overdo drop for this mare who likes to hang...owns very solid figs for this level.....Rosario is the best there is getting hangers to win
10 Queen Mariles
race 8 slightly above average clarity
3 Hiatus very impressive in last getting a wide trip and checking a little.....same horse with just an OK trip wins this
7 Free Beer nice move forwrd in last and a strong recent drill suggest even more today 3rd out after a layoff
1 California Colonel last was the gimme to return in 6 days at a route and go go go on the front end in an attempt to get to the circle of joy
2 Anga
race 9 average clarity
3 Good Vibration nice fresh off of the bench run in last...solid drills since...seemingly sitting on a top effort
6 Separate Forest best early speed in here looks loose and look who is up...Mr. P. Val
4 West Ruler 3 for 3 in sprints all there going away wins...does lose Rosario to the 3 horse
2 Full Mandate
race 10 average clarity
4 Dancing Yodeler should get 1st crack at the 2 horse who should be loose and tiring in late stretch
2 Cabo San Lucas full throttle...get loose...try to hang on.....good thing they card 5F affairs for older horses these days
7 Me Salty
9 Malaga Cove
5 Romaine
