Santa Anita for Friday 15 April 2011

Rather excited about eleven turf races carded for Saturday and Sunday to finish off the Santa Anita Winter/Spring meeting

race 1    average clarity

2  Luckarack   nice turf tightener in last.....good history in sprints.....and 2 wins and 1 3rd in 3 starts on conventional dirt

1  Lime Rock Revenge   10 months off but training exceptional well for a trainer that spots them to win so I like the step up here for an animal seemingly ready to roll fresh

4  Chinese Praise   was on the on the right end of the learning curve for Asmussen....very solid number in last.....Miller takes over...would have rated higher if it wasn't for Miller's low % 1st out after he takes over a horse from someone else

race 2    average clarity

3  Dancing Tiger   43 to 1 in a 7 horse affair says last was the gimme to tighten up and drop from MSW to the bottom and go go go go

5  Sexy Melody   only lifetime route race run 2 races back was her best effort to date....same track....same distance today

1  One Game Dude   zero support at the windows for a Baffert 1st timer in maiden debut needed the run and should be more of a competitor today

race 3    average clarity

4  Mutually Benefit   solid runs on the sod at 1 mile.....trainer has put some more speed into this gal in the morning.....seemingly sharp

1  Tashzara   strong grass figs not to have graduated.....usually a sign of an animal not understanding what winning is about....hanging tendencies...but then again a very nice 4 year old filly

2  Great Passion   2 straight off the turf sprint races under her belt should have her fit to get the mile...bred fine for the distance and the sod.....Mandella has been fairly hot the whole SA meeting

race 4    slightly below average clarity

6  River Glow   toss out last which was run on an off track....race 2 back was a very strong effort pitted against this group.....believe we will see it

4  You Can Dream   very dangerous speed here....another whose race 2 back is strong for this level...toss out last as this mare dislikes the grass

3  Fairway Road   might get a great stalk position behind our top 2 picks who both might be going after the front end

race 5    average clarity

2  Team Builder   has woken up in last 2 races with the blinkers on......race 2 back on the turf she pressed a nasty pace and only got beat by 2 1/2

8  One Bad Romance   improving sort handled 2 turns on the main track quite nicely in last.....bred fine for the grass.....1st time blinkers is one of Mitchell's most dangerous trainer's stats

1  Blue Grass Music   2 turf sprints under her belt and bred to appreciate a 2 turn affair on the sod

4  Reddy Go Jaylo   yet to show very much but the Puype barn is oh so hot

race 6    slightly below average clarity

3  Mayor Marv   off 2 years but drops off of works that suggest he is placed to win fresh off of the bench

2  No Grande   dwelt about 10 lengths in last and only got beat by 5 1/ fact it has been awhile since this horse had a good trip....used to be a smooth runner

6  Pace's Pacemaker   very consistent horse in one turn the step up of 2 levels after the drop to score in 2nd out after the layoff last

race 7    average clarity

6  Up In Time   crushed 19 others by 7 lengths in 2nd lifetime race in 2nd out after the layoff sure looks like a good spot today for Simon Callaghan who is good with his Euro imports

1  Rumor   both lifetime races on the main track are better then par efforts for today's level.......pedigree for the turf is solid

4  Rosehill Dew    good efforts last Summer / Fall in France.....McAnally takes over and has this filly training up to snuff for her 1st effort in the good old U S of A

race 8    average clarity

2  Coastal Cathy   repeat of last makes her the one to beat....hopefully not back in too short of rest

1  Wild Cat Lore   not too bad of an effort in last considering she had a wide trip versus better...we do have to overcome a negative rider switch

3  Nip Of Gold   exits a fast heat in last........consistently tries hard......seemingly a much softer bunch then she faced in her last

6  Dawngonegold   1st timer has enough work to possibly be ready at 1st asking......trainer has a nice win % over the past year or so

8  Great Bernadine  fell off in last couple of races but gets 6 weeks off to recovery and is working well enough to make a rebound of sorts
