Hollywood for Saturday 23 April 2011

Track played fair yesterday and I hope it stays that way. Todays card, like last night's, looks fine. Decent size fields too.

race 1    average clarity

4  Red Alert Day   has learned to rate and it has made him a more formidable animal.....solid reassuring recent drill...stepping up because he feels good

6  Kris Silver   speed type grass runner now gets P Val in the irons....should be the perfect fit

1  Averoo   6 year old takes a logical small drop.....he's been just a little short at a higher level of racing

race 2    slightly above average clarity

5  Ultra Blend   ultra consistent reliable runner.......solid history at 7 & 7 1/2 drills....2 for 3 in the win column at Hollywod

3  Excellent News   very cranked up for today....also has an outstanding record at Hollywood

2  West Ruler   quite the steal at the claiming box for 30K in her mc debut......hasn't missed the board in 6 lifetime starts and she won her only Hollywood start....Sadler is very good with young fillies and extended 1 turn races (7 and 7 1/2 furlongs)

race 3    average clarity

2  On My Honor   solid forward move in 2nd lifetime start and an impressive 6F bullet drill since

4  Red Train   claimed for 50K way back in July and laid up since.....Baffert has this colt training as if the purchase can get some returns today....3 of the last 4 drills are solid,,,,rather sure ready

5  Single Jewel   1st timer hasn't missed a beat for the last 3 months working with 7-6-5 day intervals...a great sign of fitness...seems wound up and ready to roll

6  Dontshootthedeputy   nicely bred 1st timer and lately the combo of Bejarano/Jones has been deadly....dangerous 1ster

race 4    average clarity

9  Amazombie   tons of talent on any surface......only ? mark for me is the extended 7 1/2 distance

11  Vadertore   extremely high % trainer ships in this gelding who handled 2 stout sprint fields at GG and then ran OK in a 2 turn affair....back to 1 turn and training sharply

2  Quick Enough   world class animal has to overcome 2 obstacles....not easy to ship so far (Dubai) and back and not get a little off form.... and the extended 1 turn distance might be a little too far....if he overcomes both then he is the one to beat

7  All Saint   super rebound for this invader who is at the top of his game now and deservedly gets a shot at the big circuit

race 5    average clarity

10  Liberal Arts   on the improve with every start....good chance to get a good stalking position behind some suspect speed types

9  Master Chef   has improved on the GG synthetic...if those efforts can be duplicated on the Hol AW he will be in the hunt for the win

3  Sammy's A Runnin'   laid up a long time but training as if he is returning as a much improved animal....does tend to hang some

4  Adam Suances    horses for courses here....appreciates the Hollywood surface more than any other....last turf to Hol Aw race was a strong effort...ran a turf race in last

race 6    average clarity

2  Going For A Spin   definitely on the right end of the learning process and has never worked better....peaking at the right time

5  Subpoena The Dress   wow talk about improving a $12,500 claimer....Avila stole one here....also working well for today's endeavor

8  Melbisha   last was decent on conventional dirt and I believe this filly prefers AW surfaces.....also is proven at the somewhat speciality sprint distance of 7 furlongs

6  Carrie Rose   GG invader fits at his very best....GG trainer is 1 for 1 winning the turf Stakes on opening day

race 7    average clarity

7  Crestatore   Troeger takes over this laid up gelding and has this gelding working like a vastly improved horse

4  Awesome Lady   88 to 1 2nd in MSW last must have shocked the Jones barn with a much better performance than more today as I doubt he was all that cranked up for debut

2  Tribal Desert   best set of drills for a 1st timer from Saavedra in a very long when a 1ster shows good speed and good endurance in his drills like this guy

6  Nofty   good forward move (albeit on the sod) in last with the addition of blinkers......fits with forward move of a couple of lengths

race 8    average clarity

8  Miles Rules   capable of handling substantial early pace and holding together in sprints and sure is bred to handle a route on mother's side....anyone who sits close to this girl is most likely going to get cooked

6  Emily Pearl   1 for 1 on the Hol AW.....hidden in that he had a brutal trip in only route race...adjusted for trouble fig was better then par for today's level

4  Screaming Regal   bascially the same as above....big adjusted for trouble fig in lone route race...handles Hollywood

5  Shezabigbroad   total gift win in debut in that this 1ster won on an off pace day and the pace up front was sizzling...but has trained very sharply and may move forward

race 9    slightly above average

2  Chiloquin    a ton (with a decent trip) if he runs anywhere near his last effort where he lost many lengths running wide and still only lost the win money by 3/4's of a length

1  Drink At Buster's   proved he can handle two turns in win at 7F at Sa in series of drills should have all wound up and ready to roll

5  Burns   in good form....last race on the main track is much better than it looks on drills and they are on the Hollywood surface

3  Thirtyfirststreet   bombed in last but his previous is fine......will need best to date if he wants to beat the top 2 choices

race 10    slightly below average clarity

3  Little Red Dress   last drill was very quick for the given morning.....also like the 7 furlong endurance drill before that...believe 1ster is ready

2  Alala   2nd lifetime race which was run on conventional dirt fits...needs to duplicate the effort 1st on the AW

6  Sparkling Style   you knew Baffert would have a 1ster ready for this added MSW the 4 straight gate drills

5  Tiz A Brite Miss    decent works for this 1ster especially considering Marty Jones doesn't push them hard in the mornings

10  My Brite Caroline   decent races on the GG synthetic...then a brutal at Sa in last...fits
