Hollywood for Thursday 26 May 2011

[private]

A date to remember. So many of you have asked when I will give bonus selections at Arlington again. Well I am doing a race show once again for a fund raiser at  AP on Friday June 17th. I will post my picks along with those for Hollywood that day. Last year I got quite lucky and had 7 of 9 top pick winners. Check the archives for June of last year to see how I fared.

Today's card appears to be average at best. Good luck to all.

race 1    average clarity

6  Twoatten Tenattwo   just keeps getting better and better and better....placed to win....2 for 2 with today's jock in the saddle

1  Afleet Deal   appears to be the best speed in the field and is 2 for 2 at Hollywood in 6 furlong affairs

5  Charlie And Chris   cut back 1 furlong should really help this gelding as he flattens out past anything further then 6 furlongs....3 2nd's and 1 3rd in 4 races at the distance

race 2    slightly above average clarity

1  Sweet Baguette   solid 2nd in a small Stakes run last July versus a next out winner and it was his debut into the world of racing.....laid up since but returning off of drills that say she is ready....GG trainer is outstanding with long layoffs...bred to handle the turf

5  Magic School   also bred just fine to run on the grass.....poor start in MSW debut and then he showed ample ability

8  Lady Shazzam   1st timer sure looks ready to roll.....Troeger 1st put some solid speed works into her and then some endurance drills

3  Alala   owns 1 strong fig/effort run 4 races back...hard to say if she will fire it today but seemingly she would be as good as anyone in here if she did

race 3    slightly below average clarity

1a  Warren's Tiger   2 off tracks on conventional dirt were poor and his only run on a fast "real dirt" surface was solid.......1st ever on the always "fast" AW ?

2  Charlie'sboywins   wide trip in last somewhat hides a 2nd consecutive good effort.....needs same effort and a smarter ride

3  Tapfortexas   distance fit......often helps Calbreds in 7F affairs.....deep closer gets the blinkers on to sit closer early and not leave so much left to do for the stretch run

6  Red Dwarf   pounded in MSW debut at SA on the conventional dirt and bombed.....drops and gets to run on the surface he trains on this time

race 4    average clarity

8  No Afillyation   1 for 1 on the sod and training extremely well off of the 2+ month layoff....seems to be on the upswing

7  Forty Paces   back to Bejarano who fits this filly well....plenty of speed types in this race should enhance and flatter her mid pack running style

5  Rockin Heather   well proven sprinting versus somewhat better both on the AW and "real" dirt....turf pedigree is above average so she should handle the sod-a-roo

1  Irenes Jackpot   1 for 1 on the sod winning a small time Stakes at Turf Paradise......should come from off of it here in a race with an abundance of front runners

race 5   average clarity

3  Cook Inlet   solid 1st at a route in latest and nicely wound up with an aggressive work series for today's race....can get a nice ground saving stalk position

8  Patriot's Voyage   blinkers off today to make more ratable after his last where he set some very strong fractions for the given day.....good works since his last effort suggest he still feels goooood

4  Ranchero   2 solid and decent numbered 2nd's in 2 lifetime races both at SA.....training on the Hollywood cushion track every bit as well as he did on the conventional dirt track at SA...highly likely to fire another good effort

1  Dreamy Kid    nice tightly spaced (every 6 day) work series may have this laid up Drysdale runner right where he was when last seen in early Jan....if he is he has the ability...the post...and the rider to compete for the win here

race 6    slightly below average clarity

3  Preferred Behavior   appears to greatly prefer Hollywood over Santa Anita......capable of solid early pace....should be prominent from the get go

7  The Hunt Is On   basically whole career fits well at today's level but he is a hanger to say the least (10 second place finishes in 25 starts).....but.....Rosario wins with more hangers than any jock I can remember

1  Casa O    work tab suggests this gelding is very happy to be back in the John Sadler barn

9  Theatrical Pro   takes an overdo significant drop to level that may fit this 4 year old colt just fine

race 7    average clarity

3  Donner Wasser   nice progression for this 4 year old filly throughout her career....nice consistent stalking style enhances her chances

5  Streamline Baby   1 win and 2 2nd's in 3 lifetime route races 2 of which were on the sod....trainer could use a win and may get it here with this late runner

1 Mavicsa   easy effort to win last setting soft fractions loose on the lead and wiring.....should feel good off of that work-out like win......small but capable trainer on the grass has hit the board in 3/4's of his last 12 starts on the green stuff

4  Subpoena The Dress   1st ever on the sod in last andit was decent......so the question now is can this mare run as well going a route of ground on the sod.......pedigreee says yes.....running lines say maybe

race 8    average clarity

8  Respuesta Solida   solid wide run in maiden claiming debut and only got beat by 3 1/2 lengths in a fairly fast heat for the racing level.....new and better rider today....same animal and a better trip can take this

10  Swiss Game   1st timer hasn't missed a beat in the morning and sure looks wound up and ready to roll for Harrington who does well in these early baby races

4  All Squared Away   decent debut.....good works since.....and Miller is good with getting 2nd time starters to fire

1  Rio Good   Sherlock has had a couple of his 2 year old 1sters fire good races at this meet and this 1st timer is training as if he maybe ready at 1st asking as well

9  Super Candy   good run in latest but he had the 1 post and a good trip.....will need a clever ride from the 9 post today

2  Original Five   1st timer is training OK....doubt a winner but maybe fit enough to snatch a slice of the pie
