Hollywood for Thursday 2 June 2011
Â
A date to remember. So many of you have asked when I will give bonus selections at Arlington again. Well I am doing a race show once again for a fund raiser at AP on Friday June 17th. I will post my picks along with those for Hollywood that day. Last year I got quite lucky and had 7 of 9 top pick winners. Check the archives for mid June of last year to see how I fared.

Â
race 1Â Â Â average clarity
1 The Whammer  3 straight solid races since the red hot Mitchell claimed.....can get a nice stalking position...small but meaningful drop in claiming price
2 Aliza's Dream  on the right end of the learning curve....last race turf to AW was quite strong....both lifetime wins are at 6FÂ
3 El Scorpio  speed of the speed will need a semi-reasonable pace to last the 6 furlongs off of a 7 week layoffÂ
Â
race 2Â Â Â average clarity
5 Lilly's Perfect  best credentials in this spot and can get a nice chasing trip behind a suspect leader in the 4 horse
1 Lemon Drop Ridge  very reliable late runner in two turn racing affairs
2 Lift Our Luck  6 lifetime races.......5 sprints are solid.....1 distance race is not......deserves 1 more shot running a route of ground
Â
race 3Â Â Â average clarity
2 Vicki Victoria  very impressive debut to close well and get up for 2nd with this trip: broke about 4 slow, green for a couple of lengths...and 4 wide....that adds up to double digit trouble
6 Jessakar  another with a bad journey in MSW debut......breaking slowly and running wide.....and a much improved drill since
5 Heleonor Rugby  flashed solid early speed in MSW debut last......good 5F gate work since
1 Roar Baby Roar  Hollendorfer 1st timer is training as if ready to roll......bred exceptionally for early speed
Â
race 4Â Â Â above average clarity
5 Gator Warrior  exceptional work tab even for the likes of Bob Baffert....wouldn't be surprised if this individual becomes a Stakes horse someday if he remains healthy
4 Ultimate Eagle  33 to 1 in MSW debut strongly suggests this colt wasn't fully wound up for his 1st start yet still fired a very respectable race......and......the trainer is way better with 2nd time starters
6 Just Imagine  last was decent running 2nd showing improved early pace.......sure like the 2 6F drills since....O'Neill appears to be putting some endurance into his colt because he has been flattening out late
Â
race 5Â Â Â average clarity
4 So Belle   very strong in 1st lifetime two turn race in latest....and an aggressive impressive work regiment since
1 Wave Of Applause  looks loose here and if she sets a reasonable pace she may go...........all................the................way
5 Nereid  good run/win 1st ever on the sod......and highly likely to move forward 2nd after the layoff for a conditioner like Shirreffs
Â
race 6Â Â Â above average clarity
3 Queenie Marini  just keeps getting better and better and better and better.....and continues to train like nothing has changed so we have a good shot to see best ever today
7 Katy's Kitty  laid up since December but training as if ready and gets a very positive rider change
4 Chocolate Caliente  competitive in all 3 lifetime starts and never trained better and it is on the Hollywood surface
Â
race 7Â Â Â below average clarity
2 Makoma   off pace Shirreffs runner seemingly gets ample pace to close into in this somewhat wide open affair
3 Jax Ex  blazing early speed in two turn affairs.....finally gets a top tier jockey in G Gomez....shot to wire as she so often is
5 Kayace  long layoff but training up to snuff and appreciates the Hollywood Cushion track
4 Ellafitz  looks very ready o fire fresh off of the bench working most impressively....most likely will need to rate for the 1st time ever or would have rated higher
Â
race 8Â Â Â average clarity
2 Doughboy  believe Gomez will chase a suspect speed horse in no. 10 our 3rd pick......good chance to catch him if he does
7 Memphis Mobster  showed little in mc debut run way back 50 weeks ago but has returned a totally different much improved animal if his work tab is worth anything
10 Cabo San Lucas  cheap speed type needs these 5 furlong races and finally gets a top tier rider and the king of speed in Patrick Valenzuela
5 Husky Glory  so so maiden claiming debut but now logically cuts the claiming level down by more than 50%...can fit fine here
8 Bryan Daniel  claimed and laid up since late March....works say ready enough to handle 5 furlongs and owns enough early speed to possible get a decent chase position
6 Free From My Ex  small slice of the pie only
