Hollywood for Friday night 3 June 2011
[private]
A date to remember. So many of you have asked when I will give bonus selections at Arlington again. Well I am doing a race show once again for a fund raiser at AP in 2 weeks on Friday June 17th. I will post my picks along with those for Hollywood that day. Last year I got quite lucky and had 7 of 9 top pick winners. Check the archives for mid June of last year to see how I fared.
Â
Average card at best tonight but this weekend looks good at first glance.
Â
Â
race 1Â Â Â average clarity
2 Aeromon  owns some overwhelming figs/efforts at Hol last Summer.......works seem good enough to be ready fresh.....jock has won 2 of his last 3 mounts for the trainer
8 Preferred Mandate  seems to appreciate today's distance of 6 furlongs the most....takes a logical drop in maiden claiming to get to the circle of joy for the 1st time Â
1 I'm A Hummer  lone race which was run on the last day of March is better than appears in print......freshened up with decent drills and makes a very positive rider switch
4Â Alex TÂ Â wide journey in last somewhat hides a par like effort.....can be closing fast late if given the appropriate pace up front
Â
race 2Â Â Â above average clarity
5 Alienation   ran 2nd to tons tougher last Summer at the prestigious Saratoga meeting.......blazing work tab says Baffert has this Stakes horse all cranked up and ready to roll
4 Glorified  Simon Callaghan import crushed 11 horses in lone effort on the synthetic in Ireland.....off 11 months but training as if ready......trainer is solid with these kind
6 Ancient Holiday  on the improve with every start.......sure like the bullet 3/8ths speed put into this filly to help her cope with her switch from route to sprint
Â
race 3Â Â Â average clarity
2 Just Heat  wide trip in last.....jock will be out to make amends with a much better post......seems set for this geldings closing style
4 Ballestero  trainer is good 1st out after a claim and appears to have snatched a 7 year old in good form
3Â Casa OÂ Â clunker in last but might be a tighter horse back in 8 days....out of the norm for Sadler but I love "out of the norm" when good trainers are involved
8 Manogold  toss out last.....sat too far off very slow early pace......see ya Bejarano..... back to Alicea who seems to get the most out of this gelding
Â
race 4Â Â Â below average clarity
2 Madeoftherightstuf  multiple 6F drills has put a solid foundation under this 1ster......finished off his work regiment with a 4F bullet applying some speed.....Sutherland/Headley have made for a good team
5 Jacob's Journey  another 1st timer training like ready and ready for the hot Mike Puype barn
3 Mr. Sierra  owns solid early speed.....might get away with a top tier rider in control......turf pedigree is fine
1 Nofty  only lifetime race that fits is his lone grass race in a sprint....... albeit a hill course grass sprint run over at Santa Anita
Â
race 5Â Â Â average clarity
4 Eye Of Jacob  needed last....sure like the fact this Baffert charge won a 1 turn mile at Belmont in his MSW debut.....7 1/2 F should fit nicelyÂ
5 Domonation  solid history on the Hol synthetic........also 2 good lifetime efforts at 7F closing as if an added 1/2 furlong wouldn't hurt
1 Warning Song   red hot Mitchell is pulling out all the stops to wake this GB invader up......gelded since last....blinkers off.....and a very positive rider switch to Gomez
6 Galleta Monstruo  won with perfect trip in last to beat a nice price shot we had but micro-rest is usually a positive for O'Neill
Â
race 6Â Â Â average clarity
3 Hot Ticket  solid figs in this spot and seemingly gets plenty of cheap speed to set things up for her closing style
5 Tough Luck  big awakening out of nowhere in last and strong Hollywood drills since......very likely to show even more today
9 J and J Express  solid sprint figs/efforts and now tries a route of ground for the 1st time ever......OK distance pedigree
8 Sexy Melody  2 best lifetime efforts are the 2 times this filly got to run off of short rest....short rest today
Â
race 7Â Â Â average clarity
3 Blue Chagall  been a long time since we have seen Canani in that "magic" mode but he is now.....solid run 2 back when last seen in S Cal.....lone lifetime grass race at 1 1/16 is his biggest fig ever on my work and it was run on the Hol grass course
4 Ferneley  some signs in his recent drills he is poised for a rebound....a ton if he does
2 Smokey Lonesome  improving with each and every turf run......scratched out of a 150K Stakes race this past weekend to run here
Â
race 8Â Â Â average clarity
3 Creston Cowboy  clunker in last....debut effort 2 back is solid versus this bucnch....seems like a good sign that Rosario sticks around
6 Blind Magic  improving sort was a vet scratch in mid May but is training awfully well since....can be prominent from the get go
9 Warren's Hi Storm  believe debut last was the tune-up to tighten up and be at full throttle in 2nd lifetime race....1st time gelding and that is usually a very positive thing
10 What A Goldmine  good shot to make a needed forward move and should appreciate the 1 furlong less
7Â Johnnie Gold
2Â Smokin Bomb
