Â
Average card at best tonight. Remember I have to do a fund raiser at Arlington Park today. Will have comments (much more generic) for the top choice only as this is a much less racing savvy group then most of you out there in Racing Digestland.
Â
race 1Â Â Â slightly above average clarity
4 Warring Song  8 weeks into the meet and Mitchell is a hair short of a 50% win %........gelded before last and blinkers were removed....major wake up.....proven long distance in GB
2 Kelvar Kid  very impressive chase/duel and hold for the win in last.....previous race was stout as well....good work series for a sharp barn should have all set again
5 Cigar Man  recent works strongly suggest a top effort today.....deep closer seemingly gets ample pace up front and a small field of traffic to negotiate
Â
race 2Â Â Â average clarity
4 Green Card James  last was good considering it was run after a 13 month hiatus from the track.....can be fitter today and we get a positive jock switch
1 Gilligan   hot hot trainer and the horse has a stellar record at today's distance
2 Royal Import  consistent sort has a nice history when today's jock is aboard......he does need to overcome a small tendency to hang in the stretch
Â
race 3Â Â Â slightly below average clarity
9 First Queen  bad trip in last hides a decent effort somewhat.....positive switch in jocks.......trainer is very good 2nd out after a claim
7Â Veillit'Â Â cheap filly has been on an impressive roll at GG including a win in last over another similar hot horse......just claimed by Metz who is solid 1st run after a snatch
8 Led Advantage  consistent sort is now with the white hot Mitchell......expecting a good effort (how can you not?) but this filly likes to hang in the stretch
2 Stunningly  1st ever at 7F but closes nicely at 6 1/2 so the extra 1/2 furlong maybe a good fit
Â
race 4Â Â Â average clarity
8 Point Mugu  solid awakening with the blinkers on in last in a sprint....ran fine on the grass around two turns so the distance should be OK
5 Malaga Cove  bombed in no pace goofy affair in last.....race 2 back is solid
4 Slews Dark Knight  off since April 10th but has never trained better.....N French is a reliable trainer when he shows solid drills
3 My Boy Luke  sprint last fits fig/effort wise.....1st at a route....average pedigree for 1 1/16 distance
Â
race 5Â Â Â average clarity
7 Nextdoorneighbor  only race with blinkers on was a strong effort.....they are back on today and a recent powerhouse breeze suggests the horse has responded......consistent sort might be able to fire very best today
2 Tamarack Smarty  deep closer owns solid figs/efforts at today's 1 mile turf distance....will fly late if he gets a solid pace up front....tough call if he does or not
4 Tribal Nation  improving sort and appreciates the 1 mile distance on the sod
10 Teafatiller  positive rider switch....rushed way too early down the back-side in last.....today's jock is usually very patient...will need to find a way to get over on the 1st turn from a tough post
Â
race 6Â Â Â average clarity
5 Indian Knight  layoff run in last was average at best....but Baffert has this 3 year old doing better in the mornings now including a solid endurance building 7F drill
8 Channel Surf  very nice drills at Kee for this laid up Harty charge......should be ready to compete for the win versus a soft field of MSW's
2 Caramas  don't know a thing about the connections for this 1ster but I do know a dangerous work tab when I see one...great spot for a 1st timer if this horse is a runner
7 Crown Royalty  some life in this 1st starter's drills......bred to be a decent sprinter.......and as I said a good spot if he is a "runner"
Â
race 7Â Â Â average clarity
2 War Pilot  on the improve and has done little wrong in 3 career grass races.....should sit in good position up close to what looks like a possible soft paced race
7 Extensive  another on the right end off the learning curve.....young gelding has more than proven he can fire a good race after shipping
6 Midnight Interlude  2 straight nightmare races after showing promise.....see ya Grade 1 races......hello 70K Stakes...good grass pedigree....big potential for 1st or last...toss a coin
Â
race 8Â Â Â average clarity
5 Bryan Daniel  seemingly last 7 races fit well considering today's competition.....handles today's distance well and others in here may not
8 Quietly Waiting  last 2 races at 6 1/2 furlongs are his best 2 ever...the latest was run 2 back....good speed and K John is a good mix
12 Crispy Corey  would be top choice if this race was at 6F....but this gelding tends to flatten out at any distance beyond 6F...still dangerous
9 Clocker Moment  late runner should be flying late once again....could upset with a cleaner trip then he saw in his last
10 Unusual Jazz  1st timer has a few hints that he might be ready at 1st asking
4 Rosie Agreed  decent enough debut 21 May but only 1 work since is somewhat of a concern
