Del Mar for Thursday 11 August 2011

Just a reminder we will not be covering the Fairplex meeting this year except for a few select days and even that is only a possibility. There was little interest last year and the break should do this aging brain of mine some good.
race 1Â Â Â average clarity
2 Blue Rock  good speed conditioner picks up nice a gelding from the East coast who has speed.....Miller/Pat Valenzuela.....see ya
5 Frenzo  MSW dropper tossed a clunker in last but his debut 2 races back fits at today's lower level
7 Competent  two improved efforts after this colt seemingly legged up off of 2 route turf races.....seems poised for best ever
6 Thunder Canyon  dangerous conditioner in Hess with mid priced mc 1sters training up to snuff for their maiden debuts
race 2Â Â Â average clairiy
3 Crazyforlovingyou  good chance to get a nice chase position behind a suspect front runner in the 1 horse.......trainer doesn't seem to be afraid to drop a horse to win
5 Stunningly  late runner sure is rather consistent and ran a good effort 1st time around two turns in last
2 Merrytagio  likes 6 to 8 weeks between races and gets it.....like when trainers show patience and you know they want the horse on full tilt since it will be another 6 to 8 weeks before the owner will get a shot to enjoy the thrill of watching his horse run
race 3Â Â Â average clarity
3 Ignited  trainer is solid 1st time at a route and this 3 year old is bred to appreciate going long.....he owns ample sprint speed so my guess is they will attempt to wire the field or at least sit close
1 Volacious  also should be up close from the get go.....decent route races just needs to overcome a tendency to flatten out late
4 Rambo Nation  moved forward in 2nd lifetime run (both sprints) and will need the trend to continue......route breeding is fine
6 Bill Maker  poor trip in last somewhat hides a significant wake-up for this gelding....will need even more today....positive rider switch can help get there
race 4Â Â Â average clarity
4 Remus  sure got good out of nowhere in his last 2 starts.......7 weeks since last seen but training up to snuff......like the fact Puype isn't dropping......indicates he is rather high on this gelding
1 Galleta Monstruo   O'Neill has woken up over the last couple of days......this gelding is 2 for 2 at the somewhat speciality sprint distance of 7F
2 Domonation  big day for Sadler yesterday and trainers often win in bunches......like the 1 horse he appreciates 7F......does tend to hang....hasn't put his nose in front in quite some time
race 5Â slightly above average clarity
6 Candy And Nuts  decent debut and even better in last......blinkers on and a solid recent work hinting it is a smart equipment change.... last fits solidly......better and she will be very hard to handle
10 Ansede  Lloyd is not much of a 1st time out of the box trainer but the good work tab suggests he may break the mold today
9 All I Wanted  very dangerous LS shipper......Cash Assmussen is stellar with 2nd time starters....expecting much more out of the filly then she showed in her Texas debut
8 Courtney's Prize  might have needed a race over the Dmr surface....if so she might be capable of rebounding to her MSW debut effort at Emd that seemingly fits for today's level
Longshot Possibilities:   5 Free Itch   checked hard late (in her maiden debut) on the run-up the backside and ran wide or would have been much closer at the wire....and Troeger is significantly better with 2nd time starters
race 6Â Â Â slightly above average clarity
5 Diamond Journey  repeat of  last race on the AW which was 2 races back would be mighty difficult for any in here to beat......vastly improved since Mitchell claimedÂ
3 Carrie Rose  love lead only types who learn how to rate and preserve some fuel for the late going....that is the case here....1st time Mitchell is a plus as well
2 Russian Bayou  on the improve since Mulhall took over.....1st time long is a strong suite for the trainer
7 Laura Beasley  recent turf races are better than appear in print....gives the synthetic a whirl
race 7Â Â Â average clarity
6 West Ruler  sharp win in last and a sharp bullet work since hints she has held her form....race is loaded speed and this filly is capable of coming from off the pace Â
5 Linda Lou  proven fresh off of the bench and this late runner seemingly gets ample pace to make her late run a factor even at the speed friendly 5F on the sod distance
1 Jax El  rocket grass horse in two turn affairs smartly gives a 5 furlong turf race a whirl
2 Salty Sarah  decent chance for the slumping Martin Garcia to get a good stalking ground saving trip behind what most likely will be a blistering pace
race 8Â Â Â slightly below average clarity
1 So Tough  1st timer has a sharp work tab in N Cal at GG and he has been sent to the right trainer in M Mitchell to get the job done....bred to be a nice sprinter
3 Warren's Diggers  both races since the blinkers were put on aren't too bad....only needs to move forward a couple of horse lengths to reach par for today's level of racing....switch to Bejarano might get him there
4Â Rino UÂ Â poor trip in 2nd lifetime starts somewhat hides a good move forward....better post today to help get a better journey....underrated jock remains aboardÂ
8 Taylor Marini  fell off some in 2nd lifetime start.....debut 2 back fits with a very clean trip
7 Mr Sproles  OK drills for this 1st timer.......trainer is pretty good with mc 1sters.....not impossible
5 Insightful Boy   blinkers off is a strong suite for Becerra and the works suggest the equipment change may have woken up this colt in prep. for his 2nd lifetime start
