Del Mar for Wednesday 7 September 2011
[private]
Decent looking card for the last day of Del Mar for 2011 especially in the 2nd half of the card.
Here are the 3 days we will be doing selections at Fairplex:Â Opening day Sept 9th......Weds. Sept. 21st.....and Derby day Sat. Sept. 24th
Looking forward to a break in the action. We always like a re-freshening just like a good thoroughbred.
race 1Â Â Â slightly below average clarity
3 Safe Word  nice job by Palma waking this filly up 1st out after the claim.....wide trip and had little pace up front to close into.....repeat of that effort would make her solid here
4Â Tuesdays With PÂ Â consistent sort and trained by Mitchell.....should be in the hunt once again for the win
2 Michailasheartlite  also solid here on the large drop in claiming price if she is still in decent health/form....my guess is that she is.....Hollendorfer needs a few wins
1 Roulette It Roll  fairly consistent sort gets P Val who has gotten a lot out of this filly the 2 times he rode her
race 2Â Â average clarity
3 Surplus  nice forward move in 2nd lifetime race and the drills since strongly suggest that even better will be seen today for this Sadler charge
1 Borealis Way  tightly spaced and strong works for this Puype 1ster says that all systems are go for this 1st timer
5 Lord Vronsky  you think 1st time Mitchell is just a little bit dangerous these days ?????
4 Sun's Out  best ever is this gelding's lone lifetime effort on the AW and it is hidden somewhat with a wide journey
race 3Â Â Â average clarity
2 Rumor  smooth runner sure looks like the controlling speed in this spot
1 Givine  good looking turf sprinter needs to show the same ability 1st time ever on the synthetic this afternoon
5 Miss Silver Brook  1st time Mitchell/layoff runner has been quite dangerous the last few months....some of them are popping their lifetime best
3 Strawberry Tart  lone race on the AW was OK.......last 2 races are quite a bit better than appear in print......training like her form is rebounding
race 4Â Â Â average clarity
9 Times Gone By  sure is a ton for 25K and Mitchell has no problem dropping a 40K claimer to 25K to find his way to the winners circle.....wonder if he will watch the race from the circle of joy
10 Red Alert Day  O'Neill is doing the same act as Mike M. here with this consistent animal....good purse money sure makes it easy to drop your horse
8 Porfido  big wake up in last and it was with P Val riding for the 1st time....same effort today and he has a shot
3 Sir Bell  horse has never been sharper and the trainer/rider have won their last 5 of 9 races as a team
race 5Â Â Â slightly below average clarity
8 Go Richie Go  1 for 1 on the AW.....takes a significant drop......can be prominent from the get go with a rider who does well on or near the lead in route races
5 Full Deputy   very decent layoff run on the turf was most likely needed.....1 for 1 running 2 turns on the AW....seems poised for a solid effort
4 Rhythm In May  Crc invader has been running well versus older all summer......should appreciate facing his own age today
3 Money Included  late runner can finish well at the distance when many in this group will be tiring
Longshot Possibilities:Â 1Â Dre's KÂ Â 2 for 2 when clear on the lead and this gelding may get the lead in this spot
race 6Â Â Â slightly above average clarity
7 Kinsale King  6 for 10 on the synthetic and 5 for 9 at today's distance......can get a nice stalk/mid pack position behind what looks like a nasty battle up front
4 Carbonite  never sharper and should also get good mid pack position in a race the will test the early speed types
3 Mensa Heat  ultra consistent animal had a bad trip in last and still won quite easily......gelding is 3 for 3 for Joe Talamo
8 Ain't No Other  4 for 4 at today's 6F distance and 3 of those wins were on the AW.....very successful GG trainer and Gomez is aboard
race 7Â Â Â slightly above average clarity
5 Glowing Spirit  favorite in a Grade 1 in Brz (in late April) and ran 2nd by a head.....needed last.....positive rider change.....bred to handle 1 1/8 miles
3 Anniversary Gal  solid move forward in last......fast finish in that race and almost beat a very nice alw horse in Butterfly Beach
6 Hard To Resist  fits fine in this spot if ready fresh off of the bench....works are up to snuff and Eurton has had a great Del Mar meeting....he's hard to resist
7 Ela Gorrie Mou  solid last and fits well if she can repeat the effort......bit leery of the fact that Vienna hasn't won 2nd out after a layoff with his last 1/2 dozen......still....danger city
Longshot Possibilities: 1 Laura Beasley  exits 2 straight races versus solid fields....can handle the distance and has some solid back numbers
race 8Â Â Â slightly above average clarity
4 Majestic City  rather impressive to win all 3 lifetime races by daylight going away at the wire....1st ever on the Dmr synthetic but training as if he loves it
8 Creative Cause  debut run was fantastic......Grade 2 effort was solid.......wins if bounces back to debut run......might not with repeat of his last
6 Drill  strong MSW win in last pressing a strong pace and still winning......strong work tab since....major speed factor today
5 Basmati  improving sort is still a maiden but only needs a couple of lengths of improvement to have a shot....positive rider switch to Gomez
race 9Â Â Â Â average clarity
5 Courtside  very capable of significant pace and going on with it.....that can be so hard to beat
9 Galleta Monstruo  seems like another smart Mitchell claim.....good history running in 6 1/2 and 7 furlong races
7 Chiloquin  ultra consistent sort in sprint races.....Pedroza sure knows this runner well...a big plus
4Â Lucky Mr KÂ Â never been much of a worker but may love the blinkers on because he sure is working like a different much improved animal...... Bonde 1s very stout 1st time with the blinkers on
race 10Â Â Â average clarity
2 California Heat  last 4 races in general are better than appear in print.......good post....good rider....and a seemingly soft bunch of competitors
3 Little Unusual  back to the grass should wake up.......blocked badly in her debut....was full of run...then.....sat too far off of a slow pace....good post.....good rider
7 Evasive Charmer  on the improve with every start and now tries the sod with decent pedigree for it
9 Pretty Much  decent forward move in 2nd lifetime start......good 5/8ths drill since.....expecting another move in the right direction today
5 Swiss Charm Â
1Â Alala
