Not the easiest of cards to decipher. But as usual I put plenty of effort into breaking the races down. Good luck we may need it. Be back with you on Thursday which starts 5 straight days of racing at Santa Anita.
race 1Â Â Â average clarity
5 Blue Grass Music  logical drop after (paid 30K running for 20K) two failed efforts on the grass since Sadler claimed.....figs fit fine if she can handle her 1st ever on conventional dirt
2 Duda Ten  race 2 back is very strong.....bred well to go long on the dirt and sharp recent drill on the SA surface suggests all systems are go for Knapp runner
6 Mrs Mayor  another taking a logical drop out of MSW races ....has to earn her keep....only brought in chump change so far
8 Lovely Sophia  exits a fast heat where being beat by 9 1/2 lengths isn't that bad....race before that popped lifetime best...fits fine here
race 2Â Â Â slightly below average clarity
6 Ghost Black  drop down shipper has been facing better at Mth and sure is training as if he appreciates the SA main track
2Â Dre's KÂ Â 2 for 2 in sprint affairs when loose on the....has a chance to clear early in this six furlong spot
4 Brother Ernie  took some time for the learning process to set in but gelding is on the improve now...last 3 races/efforts seemingly fit fine in this group/level
1 Edgewick Road  fits in this spot well if this colt can fire off of his 3rd race 16 days
race 3Â Â Â slightly below average clarity
1 Tiz Flirtatious   very strong drills for this 1ster especially from M Jones who doesn't push them too hard in the mornings.....fairly sure this horse is a runner and I hope he shows it now rather then later
2 Ohhhh A Wise Guy  good MSW debut over at Fpx showing decent early pace and a good final time fig......positive rider switch to Mr P Val
9 Teacher Teacher  two year hiatus from the track but the works are up to snuff and this girl's lone effort was quite good versus a solid bunch of MSW 's
7 Sassy Suances  work tab for this 1ster looks somewhat dangerous especially her last work which she earned a very speedy 46 flat bullet work
race 4Â Â Â slightly above average clarity
7 Acclamation  looks loose on the lead but can chase if need be......capable of grass efforts the others in here only dream about.....now for the caveat......not a lock because even though he has some excuses on the SA turf course he still has yet to win on it in 4 races
3 Champ Pegasus  can sit in a decent chase or mid pack position and hope that our top choice fails to fire his best
2 Imponente Purse  late closer made a big stretch run into little pace in last and will most likely will have the same challenge in this spot
8 Make Music For Me  colt seems to be on a rebound of sorts and will need the trend to continue today for a shot at the circle of joy
race 5Â Â Â average clarity
2 Made To Love Her  both lifetime sprint races which were run on AW surfaces fit fine at the MSW level......both sprint races were ridden by a low % jock.....Bejarano rides today.....good recent works......1st ever on conventional dirt is the only ? mark I can see
10 Eileen's Dream  pounded in debut last.....broke awkward and then chased a very stout pace and tired....freshened up with some solid works...deserves another chance
14 Contested   solid MSW debut 1 month ago.....continues to train awfully well......would be top pick if it wasn't for the far outside post....posts 12 thru 14 0 for 24 in the last SA meet....still he is a solid Baffert horse and might overcome the post with a clever ride
8 Missdang Sally  no support at the windows in MSW last......ran wide and still only beat by 6....... more cranked today....should be ready for much better
Possible longshot: 13 Music Thunder  needed debut most likely and should see plenty more today if she did.....difficult post so a clever ride is a must
race 6 Â Â average clarity
8  C J Russel  done little wrong in 4 lifetime races.....best ever 2nd out after a layoff and that's today's scenario
7 Quality Control  won for fun when last seen at Saratoga......Hofmans takes over and he just got this colt to produce a strong 5/8ths drill on the SA surface....seems ready for his 1st out for his new conditioner
6 Spaniard  fires fresh off of long layoffs and is fresh today after a year hiatus from the track
2 Scofield Barracks  laid up runner has a decent chance to get enough pace in this affair to flatter his late kick
race 7Â Â Â below average clarity
11 Muny  excellent record for Mitchell when this gelding is up for a tag......good hill jock in Joe Talamo
4 Shem  solid run in last considering it was off of a year layoff.....likely to move forward and the trainer has a strong history when he steps up in claiming
2 Quietly Mine  lousy hill record on paper but many of those races are hidden with poor trips....in good form
6 Quick Enough  Moger just claimed a declining horse but he gives him enough time off to rebound on a course he has run well on in the past
race 8Â Â Â slightly above average clarity
2 Self Preservation  horrendous trip in Grade 1 last and still managed a fast closing 2nd.......nice drills since........bred fine to handle a route of ground
8 Weemissfrankie  impressive looking runner has done everything right in winning both lifetime starts.....continues to work like a happy healthy horse.....trainer has been hot
4 Candrea  nice win at Fpx in a two turn 7F affair....a solid plus that she proved she can handle a two turn affair...can be prominent from the get go
9 Dreamcaster  tough trip in Grade 1 last.....caught wide pressing a solid pace is not the place to be....owns good early speed....may try to shake free and go all the way
race 9Â Â Â slightly above average clarity
10 Exclamation  Mullins is 10 of his last 18 dropping after a win.....repeat of last and this gelding will be difficult to overcome
11 Fortunate Appeal  another fellow dropping to keep the purse money flowing in.....in this case the trainer wins at a 40% clip dropping off of a win
3 Carbon Hoofprint  one and done type better be ready because a race usually knocks him out.....and yes another dropper
5 Dee Dee's legacy  consistent horse but sure likes to hang
9 Mind The Minister  last wasn't bad and it was off a layoff.....should move forward....might come flying late with light weight apprentice aboard
