Like the card this afternoon but we sure need Joe Talamo to vault out of his riding slump because he is our top selection in 3 of the 1st 4 races and our second pick in the 6th. I really like the young kid as he is a class act but my notes on him of late are poor. Bad decisions for a jock who usually makes all the right moves. Good luck to Joe and good luck to you.

2 Frisco Kid  hot works.......hot trainer to start the SA meeting......not raced since March but drops and sure looks meant and ready
3 Tiz Golden  competitive sort especially at this level gets a jockey upgrade
8 Emperor Stone  only "real" dirt race fits and it was run fresh off the bench which is today's scenario
5 Cottonian  good work tab for this Baffert 1ster especially considering the mc level......dangerous

7 Bonita Star  1 for 1 for M Mitchell........best figs on the lawn....and training as well as anyone in this field
5 Secret Cove  excellent spot for speed and is a very ratable sort....deadly combo when you have a top tier rider up
3 Carousel  much needed drop....back to Bejarano......1 mile appears to be a good fit
6 Cactus Jane  nice improvement in latest 1st time in the Hollendorfer barn........does have to overcome a race profile that seemingly favors those close up early

2 Mavisca  improving sort for Bonde.....1 for 1 on conventional dirt with a good going away at the wire win at Fairplex in last
9 Michailsheartlite  claimed for 16K.....out of jail.....drops to 12.5K.....classic Mike Mitchell
4 Jade Taylor  1 for 1 on conventional dirt......trainer Belvoir is scary good dropping off of a win
1 Good Acktress  solid wake up in last with lightweight apprentice up.....proven on the dirt....last 2 times horse was given more than a month off like today he responded well with decent efforts

7 Speedway Monkey  31 to 1 in Msw debut and fired a strong adjusted for trouble fig....believe the effort surprised Kruljac somewhat....if so he knows what he's got now....3 reassuring works since impressive debut
6 Lightup The Sky  solid MSW six weeks ago running 4 wide and only losing by 2 1/2 lengths.....hasn't missed a beat in the a.m. since
2 Starlight Magic   nice move forward in last somewhat hidden by a bad trip....bit concerned by the so so work tab on the SA surface
10 Heart's Memory  2 lifetime efforts fit but was flattening out at 5 1/2 so lasting 6 1/2 is a concern

7 War Element  bad trip in MSW on the grass kept this gelding from being 2 for 2.....crushed his foes on the AW in last.....bred to love the grass and the 1 1/4 mile distance.....one of the more promising horses in the Gaines barn
6 Red Alert Day   lone speed in this spot and P Val at the controls
4 Gab Power  sharp late runner is training great and has the pedigree to get the 1 1/4 mile distance.....trainer/rider sure have been a good combo the last few months
3 Isle Of Prado very nice improvement since Mitchel took over....might be able to get a good chase position behind our 2nd pick and be the 1st challenger

1 Toluca  good debut and even better 2nd out.....race seemingly has ample pace to help this closer out......like the way this youngster overcame being boxed in to score
6 Under Protest  crushed foes in mc debut over at Fpx......impressive run past that wire
9 Backwoods Belle  1st out for Sadler after the claim from Mitchell....fits fine if he can get the same effort out this filly as the day he snatched her at the claiming box....conventional dirt is a ? mark
8 Warren's Fancy  consistent sort and Bejarano has the advantage of knowing this filly well

4 Belle Swan  good post....good speed in a race that looks conducive to front runners....and Smith has come out of the doldrums...he is solid with good speed in route turf affairs
10 Charm The Crowd  multiple trouble in last and still almost won...........1st out for O'Neill after the claim can be a very dangerous thing
6 Initial Impression  cold trainer needs to get the same run out of this mare as he did in her 1st run under his auspicious
7 Hameildaeme  consistent mare will need more pace than anticipated to put in her best close
Possible longshot: 8 Dalian  faced better in last and it was off of a layoff so being beaten by only 3 3/4 lengths seems to bode well for her chances 2nd out after the layoff with a drop in levels

6 Chalula One  exits a solid heat at Fpx with a win and it was her 1st ever on "dirt".....off pace style looks like a good fit in affair that may produce solid early fractions
5 Home Sweet Aspen  versatile runner has fired both on and off the pace.......have to like 2 wins and 3 2nd's in 5 lifetime starts
3 Mildly Offensive  difficult call here......2 most recent races on the AW aren't much.......2 races on conventional dirt were strong figs but both affairs were on off tracks

8 Global Domination  my guess is Headley was surprised how well this gelding ran on the grass back in July and since then the horse hasn't missed a beat in the a.m. yet not started......sign he feels he has something special and has prepared him for today to show it 1st ever on conventional dirt
7 Fast Bullet   powerful work tab showing both speed and endurance....and then there is that Baffert fellow
3 Absolutecat  so so turf race in MSW back in mid June.......excellent work series at SA (key) and the Hol.......seemingly wound up and ready to roll
 2 Candy Sweetheart  decent debut 8 weeks ago.....training fairly well.....believe we will need to see a little more to get this one to the circle of joy
