Santa Anita for Friday 14 October 2011
[private]
Not too bad of a card today and Saturday looks quite good at first glance. Time to jinx another jockey. Bejarano is our top selection in 3 of his 6 mounts and our 2nd choice in 2 other mounts.
race 1Â Â Â slightly above average clarity
6 Liaison  off slow....ran way too wide......sat too far back in a distance affair with a soft pace....not the best of journeys for a 1st timer......should get the 7 furlongs so much better than many in here
4 Sir Allison  not much in MSW debut on the synthetic but has consistently worked sharply on the SA conventional dirt track.....good chance to be a vastly different runner today
5 Written Rule  went off favorite in MSW debut......flashed blazing early speed and still only lost by 1 length.....good works since including a 6 furlong work which should prepare him well to get today's extended sprint distance of 7F
race 2Â Â Â slightly below average clarity
1 Phi Beta Heat  last looks like the tune-up for a full throttle go 2nd out after the layoff.......1 for 1 going long albeit on the turf
2 Brooklyn Rose  seemingly needs a couple of months between races and Hess shows patience and gives it to this filly
6 Clever Chloe  decent wire to wire win in last at Fpx.......may try to clear here and attempt another wire to wire win.....good day for speed yesterday which may have been caused by the nasty 100 degree temp
race 3Â Â Â average clarity
3 Walkingonadream  broke a little slow and ran a little wide in MSW debut....all business today on the drop into claiming off a good series of drills
8 Sudden Ghost  sure like the step up a notch after a mc debut that I believe surprised the trainer (44 to 1) who probably was only giving his 1ster a tightener.......works since with blinkers on are solid
7 Twitch  MSW debut was good enough to be a factor dropping into Mdn40K......Rosario/Sadler have solid stats as a combo over the last 2 months
1 Lovestealer  debut at Mdn62.5K was better than appears in print....ran wide after a tardy start on a day conducive to speed and running near the rail
race 4Â Â Â average clarity
7Â Monica C CÂ Â takes a logical drop and catches a very soft looking group......appreciates the distance
3 Angel Of Mystery  consistent sort.....that seems fairly significant here versus this lackluster field.......Delgadillo has fit this mare well
6 Hot Citizen  not the best of trips at Fpx in latest hides a move forward somewhat.....would have rated higher but the trainer and rider are cold
1 Jana Gail  drop in claiming price should help this filly who sat too far off a soft pace in last to catch what was in front of her
race 5Â Â Â slightly above average clarity
6 Righteous Renee  bit of a goof but the energy displayed in her career can take this if she gets a decent trip and is still the same horse 1st time in a claimer....why not drop...hasn't exactly been keeping up with her bills
2 Babessa  solid run in Mdn20K debut and now smartly steps up......Eurton/Bejarano have been quite the team the last couple of months
1 Jolly Green Bean  1st ever on the dirt was decent.....might be feeling good as the trainer steps her up a notch
5 McDuffie  small drop should help.....bit leery of this filly holding together late at 6 1/2 as she has flattened out some in all her races past 5 1/2
race 6Â Â Â average clarity
6 Octogarian  has always trained extremely well on the SA main track surface and finally gets to run on it and at the lowest level she has ever competed
4Â Sean SÂ Â both lifetime races on conventional dirt are fine......positive rider change....late runner seemingly will receive enough pace up front to flatter his running style
7 My Little Morgan  just claimed by Carava and it seems like a good sign he steps this girl up in claiming price even though he is "out of jail" with this filly.as he often is more than willing to run at the same level or lower
3 Freewayracer  horrid on the synthetic.....should awaken back on the conventional dirt......it's a matter of how much
race 7Â Â Â average clarity
4 Joker Face  talk about being on the right end of the learning curve......effort in last would make him tough to beat here....another move forward and it would take a bad trip on his part to beat him
8 Myhorseofcourse  big vastly improved layoff run/win in last.......Hess really turned this colt around since last seen at GP in the Spring.....back to the grass seems OK although not as reassuring as a dirt race would have been
1 Clearance Clarence  very strong numbers earned considering today's lower level for this gelding last Fall.....1st ever on the grass and is he ready off the bench are big ? marks
3 Uncle Greg  appreciates one mile on the sod and consistently competes at today's race condition but unfortunately he does like to hang in the stretch
race 8Â Â Â slightly above average clarity
3 Blue Tambourine  5 years old and only earned 28K to date.....time to drop.....works are strong and her whole career fits well versus these.......trainer has been ready with his laid up stock
4 Jim's Golden Legacy  good wake in last 1st ever on the dirt.......exits a very strong field at Fpx that has produced 2 next out winners
9 Energia Solar  doubt all that cranked up in last off of the long hiatus and she out ran her longshot odds.....likely to move forward today
5 Warren's Hopeful  horrid on the AW......done little wrong on conventional dirt
11 Pat's Dream  6th different jockey in 6 lifetime races....what's with that?.........need to see race 4 back.....a solid effort/fig which was run on the SA surface
1 Somenchanted Evenin  improving sort should be capable of finishing the 7 furlongs with some run when others will be laboring
