Hollywood for Saturday 12 November 2011
[private]
Never crazy as most of you know about rain in the forecast and/or moisture in the racing surfaces. Things get funky too often. Add to that a difficult card. I will be taking it easy at the windows (on the keyboard) today.
race 1Â Â Â slightly above average
2 Right Smart Secret  one of seemingly only 2 speed types in a 5F race is rare.....filly has been improving both pace and final time wise
6 Looking Out  mid pack runner is drilling sharply of late and it is on the Hol surface......resurgent Talamo will be hoping the 2 and the 3 put some heat on each other
3 Ohhhh A Wise Guy  dropping once again isn't exactly a positive sign but the barn may have been lured into an abbreviated sprint which looks as if it suites her well.....should be in it from the start (with a good break of course)
5 Goldentouch Of Gin  good works for this 1ster......trainer has won 1 out of his last 5 maiden claiming 1st timers and it paid a big price
race 2Â Â Â average clarity
5 Luv Dragon  last race was quite solid and so was his run 3 back on Dmr's synthetic.......those 2 races were the only time that Talamo rode this gelding.......and history indicates this 4 year old might like Hollywood's AW the most
3 Morganouska  shot to get the lead and be loose......horse is ratable so Rosario has a shot at slowing things down if allowed to
7 Dunscombe  very wide trip in last....earned a very solid adjusted for trouble fig......good at today's distance.........would have rated higher if it wasn't for his poor history on synthetic racing surfaces....maybe the Cushion track at Hol will be to his liking
8 Clear To Canada  very consistent animal......hot trainer/rider combo.......but does have something to prove getting a route of ground
race 3Â Â Â slightly below average clarity
1 There Is No Limit  4 year old filly slowly just keeps getting better......better......better........better.......and.......
4 She's Very Rare  mare appears to like the Hollywood surface.......last time this horse went route to sprint (back in Feb) she missed by a nose
6 Classy Attraction  6 years old and only 15 starts but she has remained a consistent sort despite her limited spread out starts....should be prominent from the get go
race 4   slightly below average clarity  (pick are for the turf or the AW)
6 Achilles  best set of works for a Drysdale 1st timer in quite some time....bred exceptionally well to handle the turf but pedigree should also handle the AW
2 Getting Lucky  very solid animal (on the Hol AW) last Spring.....seems to be rounding back into form this Fall......turf pedigree is just fine.....has some speed and draws P Val
5 Shy Humor  decent m75K debut and O'Neill and his connections spent some major money and claimed him.....had to really like something so a forward or at least lateral move seems likely....turf pedigree is fine
10 Carol's Legacy  good MSW debut.....bred to handle the sod......very positive rider switch
Possible bomber:  1 Traweek   mom's tossed 2 grass winners.....multiple troubled trips hides this one's ability in his races run on synthetic and dirt surfaces......last was subtle.....dueled in strong pace on a dull inside and rightfully tired...turf or dirt price shot is not impossible
race 5Â Â Â average clarity
2 Industry Leader  love the races she ran last Fall at Hollywood........impressive work tab strongly suggests she is still enamoured with the Cushion track and ready to roll fresh off of the bench
5 Fast Bullet  vet scratch at CD in a small Stakes B C weekend......must be fine because Baffert wouldn't have him back in so quick....outstanding win on the SA conventional dirt track in MSW debut last....needs the same now running on the synthetic
4 Wall Dance  lone run on the AW was his only win and it was a fairly strong race at Arlington.....turf tightener in last and a good work tab should have ready for 1st race in not so sunny S Cal
7 Clear  won MSW debut but the effort/fig was a little soft......but was pounded to 3 to 5 at the windows and he is training very very sharply.....might not have seen this one's best in winning debut last...might see it today
race 6Â Â Â way below average clarity (all button?) turf picks 6-4-3-2
6 Hard To Resist  very tepid top choice in a most difficult gd/yl grass race where all in the field look hard to separate......won with 2 months off and won with 4 months of in only lifetime wins....3 months off today and hot rider/trainer combo
race 6  slightly below average clarity AW picks 3-2-4-6
3 Wild Rose  well proven on AW surfaces and most in here aren't.....not a lot of speed in here so I think Smith can sit fairly close up in good position
race 6 longshot for both turf or AW: 5 Pick And Pray  keeps out running his odds.....proven on the AW and bred well to handle the sod.....looks like obvious lone speed and may be viewed as the lone speed not to worry about just like we wrote about our top pick Hansen in the B C Juv.
race 7Â Â Â slightly below average clarity
3 Swiss Game  horrid trip in last hides another forward move.......new jock today with a much higher win % in Joel Rosario
7 The Bien's Gift  47 to 1 in mc debut suggests this colt was hardly pointed for his debut.....should be tighter and full throttle in 2nd lifetime start
9 War Wizard  4 wide trip in mc debut on a day the rail was slightly better than average......with race under belt and with a better trip this one should content for the top prize
2 Warren's Wasco Son  works look somewhat dangerous for this 1ster
race 8Â Â Â average clarity
6 Liason  very impressive route MSW debut on the Dmr synthetic somewhat hidden with a bad trip...then won despite a wide trip in next...a sprint.......sharp works and route experience.....all set
5 Captain Obvious  very nice 2nd overseas 1st time ever on the AW.......Cecil is fairly decent with ship ins from Europe
2 Rousing Sermon  late runner has done little wrong in 3 lifetime starts......both lifetime wins are with Bejarano who rides the top pick or would have rated higher
race 9Â Â Â average clarity
8 I Sense Your Luck   only race on the AW was quite strong and it was with today's jock P Val up.......last at Fpx wasn't too bad.....both lifetime efforts were fresh runs.....fresh and well trained for today
1 Lasso From El Passo  run 3 back his last race on the synthetic is quite good.........sharp telltale recent drill....seems set for best
3 Nicos Memory  had done little wrong in all his lifetime starts until his last.....perfect time to drop and does....started career for M40K so why not drop to 32K
4 Evita's Crown  broke very poorly in maiden debut back in late August and still managed to win in a 5 1/2 furlong race.....training up to snuff off of the 2 1/2 month layoff.....lots of upside with a good trip today
6Â Silver Street
9Â Warren's Judy
