Santa Anita for Thursday 2 February 2012

My deepest apologies to about half of our customers who were not able to access Sunday's report. We had technical difficulties in many regions of the Country. We did put the selections on the phone and emailed those that let us know that the website was down in their area. I am going to use a day from you know where as a catalyst for creating an alternative way that everyone can access our selections. Details will be forthcoming. For now, please save my email and phone number. Soon both will be on every copy of The Racing Digest.

Watch for any alarming change in the dirt racing surface this afternoon because the track was supposedly worked on quite a bit since Sunday. My guess is they want to slow down the inherent speed in the racing surface.
race 1Â Â Â average clarity
5 Square Deal  somewhat alarming drop in last but he crushed 16K claimers in last.....drops again but not all that much.....might be a good horse to consider 1st or out
6 Clue Me In  Perdoza knows this runner inside out and he has had many successes riding him.....also this horse is 2 of 3 at the distance versus 2 of 9 at other distances
2 Itssultryinthecape  came out after the layoff at the bottom claiming level and ran fairly well.....sure seems very positive that Eurton steps this runner 2 levels for his 2nd out after the layoff....rather sure he moves forward today
race 2Â Â Â average clarity
4 Love My Way  appears to be lone speed and drops.....only has 5 1/2 furlongs to hang on......ran much better than it looks in 2 of her 3 last races
6 Queen Mercury  good works for this Yakteen 1ster.....and he is fairly reliable with 1st starters when they show a good work regiment in the a.m.
5 Anita Margarita  34 to1 in MSW debut for a Jones 1st timer suggests tune-up city......better works since....more this afternoon
7 H. J.'s Kitty  good work tab for this 1st timer.....but.....the trainer has a dismal record with 1st timers......but......even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in awhile
race 3Â Â average clarity
3 Byrama  very solid 1st run in the good old U S of A in last.....that race fits solidly here.......big 4 length win a 5 furlong race in 2nd lifetime start in GB .......that seemingly bodes well for 2nd run after the layoff
2 Twelve Folds  did wire on a rail speed bias in last but it still was a significant forward move......no strong feeling/knowledge about her grass pedigree......likely to be loose and lonely on the front end if takes to the grass
1 Assure  good move forward 1st ever on the turf....good work tab since.....blinkers on......might get a nice chase position behind our 2nd pick who might not take to the grass or 2 turns
race 4Â Â Â average clarity
7 Generation Of Love  good MSW debut run and very impressive work tab since......Headley is much better with 2nd time starters
4 Valeria  lost about 5 lengths at the start of a very fast heat in her latest race.......nice hidden improve....like our top pick she has worked nicely since
3 Lottawampum  exits the same fast heat as our top 2 picks.....MSW debut effort was solid.....but unlike our top 2 selections the works aren't all that impressive.....but of course works aren't everything
1 Sister Esperanza  1st timer is training up to snuff......mom has been a rather prolific producer tossing 3 Stakes winners out of 6 foals
race 5Â Â Â average clarity
1 Dave's Pacemaker  GG invader is 9 for 18 in the win column with 4 2nd's & a 3rd....also is 2 for 2 at the distance......race seems to set to soften up and his mid pack style will fit if that occurs
2 Certified Diamond  another consistent sort who happens to have won his lone race on the SA conventional dirt and it was at a small notch higher in claiming price
6 Peacenik  3rd consecutive new trainer for this gelding.....and his new conditioner places him where he belongs and has a shot.....3 for 6 at the distance
7 Bailmeoutbugsy  alarming drop but dangerous if he is still in relatively good health......also gets the red hot apprentice in the saddle
race 6Â Â Â average clarity
4 Shezabigbroad  best races were her two "fresh" efforts.....fresh today......training sharply......drops.....gets 1st time Bejarano which is often a ticket to success
2 To The Top  wired (very loose) with just an average pace in 2nd lifetime start in last.....these kind that face little stress often get very fit and run there best in their next out
1 Big Tsimmis  cut back of 1/2 furlong looks like a good thing for this filly that has been competitive but lacking late punch in her last 5 races
7 Not To Notty  gimme in MSW debut then drop and go and win last Spring....laid up....gimme for filly 40K.....drop to 25K and go go go today
Long-shot possibilities:  9 Mama Janka  price shot has run 3 consecutive races that are hidden and better than appear in print....same energy and a good trip from his new jock and she has a decent shot to upset the apple cart
race 7Â Â Â average clarity
6 Dane With Gable  amazing consistency for this 8 year old gelding......very solid figs on the grass for the 25K level.......5 lbs off....and a jock upgrade
3 Dixieland Blues  on the improve with every start....rode the rail impressively to victory in last his 1st ever on the beautiful and unique SA hill turf course....good post to do it once again
8 Starspangled Heat  two races back this gelding really took to the hill in 1st run ever on it.....should come flying late
4 Don Perico  not much near the front end of things....too flat late.....but lookout if the barn sees the light and has Rosario take back early......horse ran a monster effort the one time he got squeezed back at the start
Long-shot possibilities: 9 Fire In Excess  will try to fly done the hill with the red hot light weight apprentice aboard.....some shot to wire if our 4th pick takes back as I anticipate
race 8Â Â Â average clarity
3 The Black  back where belongs in a maiden claimer.....both lifetime runs in sprint races with the blinkers off like today our solid numbers/efforts....small concern.....was a vet scratch on 20 January
2 King Bill  wide trip in last and still managed to close in the stretch at GG in a route race....that bodes well for finishing a 7F sprint with vigor...when many will be tiring
6 Warren's Wesley maiden debut last looks like the tune-up (no support at the windows) to tighten up (like only a race can do for many a thoroughbred) and to show much more in 2nd lifetime race
10Â Papa P BÂ Â broke tardy in debut and the showed life after that....claimed and new conditioner comes back at the same claiming price off of a nice recent 5F gate work
4 I Know That  exits a fast heat of 12 horses where he finished 7th but only was beat by 4 lengths for 3rd......blinkers on.....real nice history for Drysdale with such change in equipment
9 Jamakagoodsense  not much in mc debut but mom has produced some decent runners.....and.......Walsh is more dangerous with 2nd time starters than 1sters
