[private]
OK card for today at Santa Anita. Make sure you have the correct publication as Sunday's is also posted on Saturday. Early 1st post Sunday because of the Super Bowl.
race 1Â Â Â above average clarity
5 Mile High Magic  solid pedigree to appreciate a sprint and a powerful work regiment even by Baffert standards for this 1st timer
7 Eaton Hall  trip from you know where in this Baffert runner's MSW debut.....back quick with new jock Talamo who has won 2 of his last 3 mounts for Baffert and you know he would love to ride more for the king of Cal racing
6 Gophari  exits a fast heat with subtle trouble.....jock upgrade today for his 2nd lifetime start....Bonde is having a nice SA meeting
4 Et Tu Walker  seems well wound up with some tightly spaced drills.....has hit the track every 6 days consistently for 6 weeks....seems like a ready 1st timer
race 2Â Â Â below average clarity
3 Seek The Light  somewhat hidden move forward in last......impressive wide close on a day there was a bias to the inside....has been coming from the clouds so blinkers on to help focus early and maybe sit closer to the front
2 His Boy Elroy  should be nicely legged up coming off a turf mile effort....never raced lower....trainer/rider make for a good combo.....3 of last 8 over the last couple of months
6 Me Salty  fairly consistent sort seems best at today's 6F distance
10 Warren's Patron  consistent late stretch runs for this colt gets a nice 5 weeks off after 3 races in December....recent drills say the break did him some god
race 3Â Â Â average clarity
8 Mr. Commons  2 wins and 2 2nds in 4 lifetime firm turf races all at today's distance of 1 mile......seemingly never trained better
2 Pathfork  3 for 3 at two in Ireland including a big Grade 1 win....bombed in lone star in 2011....it's a new year and a new Country and a new trainer in John Sadler who has this colt all cranked up and seemingly ready to roll in his U S of A debut
6 Willyconker  just keeps getting better.......and better........and better.......and better........and back to Bejarano who rattled off 3 straight wins on this improving 5 year old
4 Calimonco  decent mid pack runner has 2 faster speed types inside of him so that should leave room for him to get over to the rail and save some ground on the 1st turn and that is most of the battle in 2 turn grass racing......fairly good history in turf miles
race 4Â Â Â average clarity
10 Jonny's Choice  broke slow and got blocked some in the stretch or could have been much closer at the wire in a fast heat of open company 3 year MSW....in versus Cal breds for 2nd lifetime race......trainer is better with 2nd timers
5 Real Conundrum  38 to 1 in MSW debut strongly suggests the race was needed and that more will be forthcoming this afternoon...and debut wasn't bad....chased a solid pace and only missed 2nd by a little more than a length
11 Paperrockscissors    so so trainer with 1sters but this gelding is training sharply and mom has tossed 7 winners from 7 starters and 3 of those were Stakes winners.....yikes
8 Blazing Marino  shuffled back early in MSW debut last........works sure keep getting strong......deserves another chance
Possible Long-shot:  3 Indicator  bet hard in debut and bombed...bombed again in 2nd lifetime start......but works like he can run and his mom has tossed some nice runners
race 5Â Â Â average clarity
10 Miss Communication  very solid 1st ever on the SA hill and a very reliable trainer in Mike Mitchell to reproduce that effort or more in 2nd run down the hill course
4 Sydney's Darling  only lifetime race was rather decent.......24 to 1 that day so might have not been all that cranked up......excellent work series since.....more highly likely this afternoon
9 Candy And Thunder  filly is quite a bit better than appears in print....Pedroza knows this filly well
2 Belle Passe  beat 14 horses and lost to 1 in only lifetime race which was way back in May in Ireland....works say she is all set for USA debut.....Eurton is solid 1st out after a trainer/barn switch
race 6Â Â Â Â average clarity
6 Rousing Sermon  very wide trip in Grade 1 last and still finished fast and just needed about 10 feet more for the win.....needs same effort with a smarter trip on the conventional dirt.....1 for 1 on "real" dirt
2 Liason  2 for 2 at the distance...... proven on the SA main track........sharp in the a.m.....and of course let's not forget.....Mr. Bob Baffert prepared
7 Empire Way  improving with every start......very good sign that Rosario sticks with horse for a trainer he seldom rides for
1 Isn't He Clever  won a 100K stakes race at Sun.....no big deal unless you win it by 11 lengths in a fast fast 6 1/2 furlong time....bred fine to get the distance...invading trainer has won with 1/4 of his last 120 shippers
Possible Long-shot:  3 Groovin' Solo   owns some sizzling recent works......will most likely go after the lead and try to wire.....good upet trainer especially in these early 3 year old Stakes races
race 7Â Â Â average clarity
9 Gab Power  distance of 1 1/8 miles looks like a good fit......on the right end of the learning curve
12 Unusual Jazz  another on the improve with every start on the turf.......seemed to love the 1 1/8 miles winning going away at the wire in latest
1 Truism  seems to be working well enough to be ready to handle his 1st ever on USA soil....or should I say turf....very quick drills for a trainer like Mitchell
3 Acaffella  big improvement in 2nd lifetime start in 2010.....so 2nd out after an extended hiatus from racing seems like a good thing
race 8Â Â Â average clarity
7 Tapizar  has more speed to contend with this time but has chased and crushed in the past......just needs to avoid a suicidal speed duel and he should be stout once again
1 Jaycito  only race on the SA main track wasn't too bad.....but he sure is training better for this layoff run than he did in preparation for the aforementioned layoff race......showed a ton of ability at 2........might be rebound to rebound to those strong efforts
2 Prayer For Relief  another Baffert charge looking to rebound in form which was quite good last summer......Bejarano knows this colt well as this is his 7th straight mount on him
8 Balladry  late runner seemingly gets enough pace by the front runners to flatter his late run and make him a factor in the late stages
Possible Long-shot: 6 Indian Winter  big hidden run last year 3rd out after a long layoff in the SA Derby ....good work tab and 3rd out after a long layoff here as well.....hmmmmm
race 9Â Â Â average clarity
3 Mark The Bench  nice improve in last at 1 mile on the sod sets him up nicely for a cut back to a turf sprint.......something he seemingly prefers.....back down to the price Mitchell claimed him for....should be well meant
2 Crossing The Line  constantly runs strong efforts/figs but lately he somehow finds a way to run 2nd or 3rd....overdue
7 Devoted Magic  crushing foes at quite a bit lower levels of claiming at GG....but his new trainer smartly runs him down the hill where he is 1 for 1
11 Striking Spirit  owns a couple of very strong efforts overseas.....last looks like a 1st in the U. S. tune-up.......believe we are in full go mode today with this GB import
race 10Â Â Â below average clarity
8 Fiddlers Afleet  1st out in the Eurton barn is often a dangerous thing....solid back numbers....does his best running on conventional dirt
1 Setsuko  very solid drills for this talented runner that does like to hang......amazing he is still eligible for this level....might not hang versus much easier today
4 Graeme Crackerjack  trainer is having a nice SA meeting....this runner is showing steady improvement and should be as tough as anyone in here if he moves forward again
11 Coluda   big early speed + light weight apprentice up = dangerous potential to wire
10Â American Blend
9Â Industry Leader
