I've been under the weather this weekend and so have my selections. Yesterday was dismal. I've got to snap out of it. Today's card once again looks decent. Hope I'm right this time. I strive for excellence and this week so far has been far from it.
race 1Â Â Â average clarity
4 R Vicarious Girl  owns good early speed in this spot......last 2 wins have come turf to dirt....same scenario today
5 Tripped The Light  just snatched at the claiming box by Mikus who has won 3 of her last 4 1st out after a claim.....retains Rosario who has a terrific history with the mare
6 Katy's Kitty  good history on conventional dirt and 1 for 1 at the distance.......gets light weight hot app up
race 2Â Â Â above average clarity
3 Charm The Crowd  very stout miler on the grass for 25K....would have won last easily if not for getting blocked on the 2nd turn and running a little wide.....7 lbs less today
1 Van Brit  not much more to say then 6 for 11 at the turf distance and 7 of 11 on the SA turf
8 Glorified  all 5 career races/efforts fit well at today's level.....retains Bejarano who has only 2 mounts today
5 Bella Swan  shot to get loose and wire with a good speed turf jock aboard....speed had a field day yesterday and the rail is supposed set at 15 ft out once again
race 3Â Â Â average clarity
2 Thunder Of Zion  likes SA....owns brilliant early speed.....training razor sharp
3 Quintons Destiny   late runner gets what he wants......ample pace to put in a big late kick
7 Speed Bias  dropping Tup invader can range up from the outside and at 1st crack at our top pick
6 American Wildcat  back in Jeff Bonde's barn where this gelding has won 3 of his last 4
race 4Â Â Â average clarity
4 Our Merv  exits a fast heat of MSW's down the hill........and likely to move forward 2nd out after the layoff and 2nd out in the USA
1 Solid South  good move forward in 2nd lifetime start....been a little flat in 2 turn grass miles......hill might be a much better fit
2 Only The Gold  improving sort just worked a strong 6F.......1st on the sod but has a very good turf pedigree
7 Koast  continues to train like a runner but yet to fire in 2 career starts on the dirt.....turf might be the answer....seems significant that Sadler doesn't drop
race 5Â Â Â average clarity
1 Star Presence  dirt history (5 2 3 0)......history with Bejarano (4 2 2 0)....and Baffert trains....a statisticians dream
2 Awesomemundo  training as if this Baffert charge is ready to roll fresh off the bench....2 for 2 at today's distance winning both by daylight
7 Bwana Babe  best speed in this affair.......same jock for his new trainer....wire to wire attempt once again
3 Miss Radiance  2 wins and 1 2nd on the SA dirt......nice relaxed mid pack style.....Flores knows this filly well
race 6Â Â Â average clarity
6 Warrens Venedalucy  impressive duel in 2 turn turf race should have this filly legged up for a turn back in distance to 5 1/2 furlongs....should be in the hunt from the get go
7 Vegas Rules  3 wide close to a stout pace in last.....not a bad 2nd in lifetime debut.....same effort with a cleaner trip and she should be formidable
2 Ralphy Girl  clunker in last.....previous (her maiden debut) was rather good.........works have never been better....rather sure rebounds today
5 Raggin Wood  dismal last but takes the ever dangerous drop out of MSW racing.....2 other lifetime races are better than appear in print
race 7Â Â Â above average clarity
2 Creative Cause  all 5 lifetime races fit solidly here......and......his best ever might be his only race at 7F today's distance....bad trip and still only beat by 1 length
4 Smoking Gun  scratched out of a predictably easy win yesterday to run here and why not.....won a very fast heat of maidens down the hill in last and didn't get the best of trips.......bullet 5/8ths drill since......1st on dirt but bred for it
3 Drill  good history 1 turn....bad history 2 turns.......wide early move in last did him in.......look for a better ride from Garcia today
race 8Â Â Â average clarity
5 Three Cuties  both lifetime grass fit....and the one down the hill is hidden with a but trip....can come flying late if she is fit enough off of the layoff
4 Blue Samurai  ultra consistent sort but tends to hang.....has the right jock in Rosario for the task of getting her past the last horse
8 Platinum Mine  1/2 sister to 2 outstanding grass horses....1 for 1 on the hill
2 One Fast Frog  big wake up on the dirt with 1st time blinkers to break maiden quite easily......1st on the lawn but mom has tossed 3 grass winners
race 9Â Â Â average clarity
9 Dance Thewayyouare   appears to dislike two turn racing.....repeat of race 2 back would be very solid versus this bunch....it was on a muddy track so the jury is still out on a fast track but what a price
11 Anna You're Up  lone race back in August is decent....but I think we'll see even more today off of drills that are tightly spaced and should have this Mitchell charge all wound up and ready to go
1 Confectionary  works seem good enough for this Sadler charge to be ready for her maiden debut
4 Glo Jack  off track in last....toss it out....nice wake up race 2 back both pace and final time wise
8 Babs N Mary   works up to snuff......Rosario/Hollendorfer......might be ready for debut into the wonderful world of thoroughbred racing.....not as wonderful yesterday
6 Ricspretentiousgal  showed life in mc debut last.....will need to build on the race....would have rated higher if the jock wasn't 1 for 63 for the meet
