Santa Anita for Sunday 26 February 2012

[private]

Kind of a wild day with 3 races rated above average clarity and 3 races rated below average clarity.

NOTE: We will be offering full card selections for Churchill Downs Derby weekend. Cost to be determined. There will be an early sign-up soon where you can save a few dollars.

Race 1    average clarity

2 Nihilist   good move forward in 2nd lifetime run both in pace and final time.....controlling speed here

3  Lady Ten   hard check on the 1st turn or would have won mc debut at 1st asking.......Baffert wisely steps up....should be motoring late

1  Tiz The Tide   decent MSW debut last June.....training great for the King of Cal and sure is bred to appreciate an extended sprint......should be able to sit near the lead in what seemingly should be a reasonably pace race

race 2    below average clarity

7  Loro   last fits very well but this horse has some health issues......toss a coin

3  Titian   turf sprint last sure fits......but needs to avoid a fast early pace dealing with the 1 horse because she doesn't own the best pedigree to go a route of ground

1  The Flying Whizer   not much heart but can be formidable if the 3 and the 8 don't press the issue early

8  Sunday Headline   still a maiden but her 2 grass races at GG are decent and she might get the garden spot sitting behind a couple of suspect speed types

race 3    above average clarity

5  Nonrefundable   easy win in last says horse left for today......sure like the fact her crushing win came at today's 7F sprint distance

7  Siempre Mio   vastly improved pace and final time with 1st time O'Neill in 2nd lifetime start.....weight off with hot app up.....should be prominent from the get go

3  Thunder Canyon   won last which was back in Sept. despite breaking bad and running wide......works suggest he is ready.....fits as well as anyone in here if Blanc gives him a better ride today

4  Make Us Proud   1st time Lasix back in Oct and won........off 4 months but sure is training like a much improved individual......Chew is decent with 3 or 4 month layoffs when he shows good drills

race 4    below average clarity

1  Hiatus   on the improve and the last move forward is somewhat hidden with a bad trip......seemingly plenty of early speed in this affair to flatter this late runners late kick

4  Dress Code   best ever on the dirt in last......might feel real good......beat much tougher 5 races back in a turf affair at today's distance

6  Donato   trainer is polar but he has this gelding training well......fits solidly if this fellow can bring his "A game"

3  Farmer Giles   keeps stepping up in claiming price and getting the job done....not too bad in his alw race last either

race 5    average clarity

3  Otta Splash   bred to appreciate an extended sprint and sure like the way this gelding ran in the late stretch in his mc debut

2  Afleet Cowboy   good work regiment for this Spawr laid up runner......Smith/Spawr have been a good team of late

1  Clearlyaluckyguy   rebound might occur with the blinkers back on and the works looking good......mc debut 4 races back would put him in the hunt here

8  Crestatore   last 3 of 4 races fit well but will need very best to not flatten out at 7F

race 6    average clarity

5  Byrama   two solid mile races and now turns back to a sprint....sure liked her 2 turf sprints in GB....solid recent 4F work should have sprint sharp

2  June Cleaver   very impressive MSW sprint debut win on the turf.......chased a brutal pace at a route on the lawn in last and rightfully tired....rested and training terrifically...sure seems set to fire

3  Batalha   both grass races fit well here fig/effort wise.....now she just needs to be as good in a sprint turf affair

6  Caribaya Queen   improving sort is 1st time grass.....bred just fine to handle the green stuff......needs trend to continue to have a shot here

race 7    above average clarity

6  Luckarack    1st time Rosario in last and never ran better...stays aboard today for the red hot O'Neill

1  Saddleranch   done little wrong in 3 lifetime starts last summer.....laid up since but no big deal for a stout Baffert horse

4  Close To The Edge   improving by leaps and bounds......one more small move in the right direction and he is as good as anyone in here

5  Smart Spending   likes SA dirt....likes 7F....needs best

race 8    below average clarity

5  Hodge   fell off some in last 1st time long but training well and 2 previous races (sprints) are very good.....1st turf but nicely bred to handle it

9  Smoking G   solid wake-up in last and a good drill since....will need a clever ride from the outer-most 9 post

1  Coach Bob   last on the dirt was decent........showed very solid pace at GG last fall before bolting the 1st turn....cab be prominent from the get go here

2  Stoney Fleece   proven grass horse and would have rated higher if he showed a few more works.....only 3 works listed since last run on the last day of 2011

race 9    above average clarity

7  Desperate Measures   seemingly a nice spot for a laid off drop down......Spawr barn has been heating up lately

3  All The Love   capable of rating just off the pace and that sure looks good....race is loaded with cheap speed.....3 of her 4 lifetime wins are at today's distance

5  Folk Dancer   recent figs/efforts fit fine here.......needs to avoid a nasty speed duel

2  Moon Stone Madness    placed over head in layoff last says obvious gimme.....go today......seems to prefer conventional dirt

6  Sizzling Gold   trainer is cold....rider is hot......not much in last ( did have a bad trip but usually does) 1st after the claim but significant drop can possible awaken

4  Soldier Betty   laid off deep closer gets what she needs...plenty of ES types in the race
