race 1Â Â Â below average clarity
3 Hemera  this mare always seems to fire and she has been unlucky in multiple pace scenarios not in her favor.......late runner gets a small field loaded with speed.....nice sprint layoff tune-up in lastÂ
4 Sweetly Peppered  good opportunity to get a nice mid pace position behind a lively pace and have first crack at the tiring speed types
2 Capital Plan  best lifetime effort was the lone time Rosario rode this horse and he is aboard today
race 2Â Â Â average clarity
3 Quietly Mine  steps up 25% in claiming and back quick and a switch to the meets leading jock......3 signs this gelding is feeling goodÂ
2 Maui Mark  nice record at today's distance......one of 2 speed-balls in this race.....most likely will try to shake free from the 1 horse and attempt to wire the field
4Â Position AÂ Â made a small move forward 2nd out after the claim in latest.....will need one more small forward move if our top two selections run their race
race 3Â Â Â average clarity
4 Metropolitan Man  all 3 runs on the majestic Santa Anita hill turf course are quite nice........runs well with ample time between starts and gets it....trainer is quietly having a good SA meeting
6 Golden Beauty  proven fresh runner.......proven sprinter at today's level of racing......so what about the grass ?  Walsh is as good as anybody first time on the turf
1 Bluegrass Reward  last looks like a turf route gimme to leg up....cut back in distance ....and go go go go
7 Mr. Candy Bar  2 turn GG grass horse gives the SA hill a try.....sometimes these mid pack turf route types improve on the hill showing a good turn of foot in the stretch....horse decent history with short rest and that is the case this afternoon
race 4Â Â Â average clarity
2 Nome  very poor trips in all 3 lifetime starts and now we get a jockey upgrade to the meets leading rider.......I have the colt losing 7 lengths then 7L again and then 10L in last his 1st ever at a route......3 year old versus older (in March) but the youngster sure showed he can handle a route of ground and he should appreciate today's light 3 year old weight assignment
3 Admission  has been facing quite a bit tougher.....short rest looks like a good thing for this colt.....only race run with relatively short rest was 2 back and it was a solid race only getting beat by 7 versus a very stout nw field
6 All Squared Away  Miller must feel good about this 3 year old's ability because he scratched him out of today's same condition on Feb 12th to run in a Grade 3 at GG.......dueled and tired versus better...........back where belongs today
race 5Â Â Â below average clarity
5 Rocket Train   somewhat hidden ability on the grass........sat too far off a pedestrian pace 2 races back so he couldn't muster a late run...then......tired at 1 1/8th on the turf which his pedigree suggested he might.......good post....good distance....and upgrade to the meets top gun in Rosario
8 Trucial State  two strong races since the blinkers were added both on the main track.......failed on the grass in lone race on it but that race was run without the blinkers on....they are on today.......Sadler is good 1st after the claim.....and Smith/Sadler are a hot combo of late
7 Tommy's Kid  last looks like a gimme for an animal with a strong grass pedigree....works since his debut are much improved....full throttle today where he belongs......on the green stuff
4 Langfurs Lightning  came back a much improved horse after a couple of dull efforts last summer......back fairly quick and must feel good with the significant step up in maiden claiming price.....bred to love the turf.....decent route breeding
Long-shot Possibilities: 1 Have A Cigar  moved nicely forward in last which was at today's distance but run on the dirt......only raced once on the grass and it looks like it was a gimme off a layoff.....so with a another move forward......and a good turf pedigree.......and a hot apprentice up....and a hot trainer.......presto......a decent price shot
race 6Â Â Â average clarity
6 Golden Mary  exits a fast heat at a slightly higher level where getting beat by 14 lengths wasn't that bad considering she broke very poorly and ran 4 wide....and we get a  major jockey upgrade today
8 Chimi Dee  Victor Garcia is firing on all cylinders..........bet hard in maiden claiming debut last and ran fairly well......might need a little more today but as hot as the trainer is it should be expected
2 One Too Many  good works previous to maiden debut run in mid Dec.......bad trip in race hides a par for class like effort.....off since but she is working like she is ready once again
1 U R Awesome  so so debut but her trainer Caesar Dominguez is bad with 1st timers and decent with 2nd time starters........hmmmmmm
race 7Â Â average clarity
4 Kingpin Ryno  best ever was his last his 1st ever at 1 mile on the grass.......same turf distance today......3 slow horses inside of him so Espinoza should be able to get the wood on turn 1 and that is half the battle....trainer is 3 for 5 at the meeting
9 Valley Cat  closer so far has run his best when Bejarano is aboard and he is the rider this afternoon
2 Minister D'oro  laid up since early September but owns a prolonged work regiment and draws the services of the meets leading rider.....deep closer might come flying late if the pace scenario sets up in his favor
6 Victory Cup  on the right end of the learning curve......should feel good back in 26 days coming off a nice effort despite a 2+ month break in the action
race 8Â Â Â average clarity
9 Coparcenary  solid move forward to a lifetime best in latest and it was hidden somewhat with a wide journey....same energy/effort with a cleaner trip and he should be difficult to overcome
6 Under Wraps  back in the Mandella barn after spending time at GG with a N Cal conditioner....he drops this filly to her lowest level ever......sure looks like Mandella means business with this filly today
8 Right Smart Secret  has shown good early speed in the past and the recent drills (blinkers off) suggest this filly is doing quite a bit better since her disappointing race in her last.....seemingly a good spot for early speed types.....jock is having a brutal meet but sitting close or on the lead is usually where a low % jock can ride OK
10 Capalatte  fairly consistent sort but must overcome her tendency to hang in the stretch
11 Tiabelle  shuffled back badly in last and then ran OK after that....you've got to like Rosario sticking with the horse
2 Smokey Lake  Lead type only so far in 5 race career....has a shot to get the lead here if she is ready off of a 2+ month break in the action
