Santa Anita for Friday 19 October 2012

[private]

Slightly better than average looking card this afternoon.

Best of luck as always!

race 1    average clarity

7  My Slew    significant move forward 1st time with the blinkers on and 1st out after the claim by Miller in latest.......gets plenty of rest to recover from such a strong effort.......Miller smartly steps him out of claiming.......rather sure this fellow will be able to repeat his last or maybe even produce a little better

3  Field Report   another who vaulted forward 1st out after the claim.......gelding was able to get loose with a reasonable pace and wire easily.....might feel awfully good coming off a race void of much stress

4  Cuurahee  consistently runs in a nice close stalking position.........best 2 lifetime efforts are his only two dirt races at SA.........and 6 furlongs seems like the perfect fit

5  Baby Blake   off since March but has fired fresh off of the bench the last 3 times that has been the case........and........ he won his maiden debut........probably ready but he will need his lifetime best versus this group

race 2    average clarity

3  Luckarack   a different much better runner on conventional dirt surfaces..........rather sure this runner is on the upswing and that he can handle another jump in claiming price

6  Solar Rocket   tossed a clunker in last but lookout if he bounces back because he sure appears to love the SA racing surface

5  Newfound Gold    consistent sort has hit the board 19 of 21 on tracks rated fast........last was dull......but......he was just claimed and his new trainer smartly cuts him back in distance and that looks like a sharp move

race 3    average clarity

2  Arcodoro   highly likely to get a very nice mid pack position behind an abundance of speed......horse is training well and the trainer is off to a good start at the meeting

8  Street Rocket   on the improve and now switches back to the turf where his only run on it is better than appears in print......and Mullins is one sharp turf conditioner these days

6  Wareen's Wild Thing   deep closer sure appears to get what he needs and that is multiple front runners all wanting the same thing....a loose lead

1  Moment of Weakness   seemed strange not to have dropped this runner in last.....so......that run may have been for fun to drop and go go go at this lower level

race 4    average clarity

12  Funny Side   green run in debut which was at Fpx including a slow start....claimed by Sadler and training as if he has the trump card for this filly.....seems very fit so if she smooths out her trip she should be very tough from start to finish

9  Sense of a Woman   all three lifetime races fit OK in this spot.....owns better speed than appears in print as well

6  Bojour   both lifetime races fit rather well at today's lower level........reassuring recent decent work tab.....trainer does well with maiden claimers

8  Clockerscornerrosy   lagged back early to dead last and then showed some life finishing fast in his maiden debut at Fpx......and her trainer is better with 2nd time starters

Long-shot possibilities:    5  Janes Ship   horrid trip in debut........broke slow and checked hard and ran wide .....did well to only get beat by 13 lengths......mom's only other runner that she tossed was a Stakes winner

race 5    slightly below average clarity

3  Vantage Point   1st timer is extremely well bred to appreciate the turf......Shirreffs overall has a low % with 1sters but not those debuting on the turf.....works sure say ready

4  Spit Ball   only grass race was down the SA hill turf course and it was rather good........and this colt woke up quite a bit with the blinkers off in a dirt race at Fpx in latest

9  Mikey T   so so MSW debut on the sod last May.......returns with a new trainer and he sure has this returnee all wound up in the morning with some tightly spaced drills.....might be a better horse than he was in May

5  Our Lucky Son    showed he can handle the green stuff in two 3rd place route grass races at GG........and just worked a very impressive 4F bullet drill at SA just 1 week ago.....fits if he takes to the hill which I think he will

race 6    slightly below average clarity

7  Honour Family   seems in good form.........decent chance to get a nice stalk position......cut back of 1/2 furlong in distance appears to be a good thing.....should help him from flattening out late

4  Aqua Fever   has never missed the board in 6 lifetime races on conventional dirt....very sharp race in last at Fpx......and switches to T Baze who has made for a good team with Mullins at this meet so far

6  Streets Of Heaven   very consistent sort should fire once again......would have rated higher if his trainer was using one of the local riders......but then again the trainer is 2 for 2 at the meeting

5  Fire Break   horse has been on the decline.....but gets some extra time to recover and drops a couple of claiming levels.......might wake up

Long-shot possibilities:  8 Big Wags   speed has done exceptionally well at the meeting in 1 mile races on the main track.....and this runner appears to have the most early foot in the race

race 7    slightly above average clarity

4  Camelia Rose   hasn't won since two.......so finally the connections are willing to put her where she stands out and can get a confidence building win

3  Hard To Resist   in good form and back to Bejarano who has been a good fit with this filly in the past

1  Little Emily   sure has improved since Colon took over the training duties of this 4 year old filly......and she just got this filly to work a best of 44 bullet drill just 5 days ago.....horse is feeling goooooood

race 8    average clarity

6  Bull Rush   sure woke up in 2 races on the conventional dirt at Fpx.....last I looked they still had the "real thing" at SA......and leading rider Joe Talamo gets the mount

12  Courageousandbold   decent return to the race wars in last.......owns some good early speed and that has been an advantage most of the SA meeting

4  Quiet Sunshine   showed she can handle conventional dirt in latest which was a 7F race at Fairplex........cut back to 6F seems like a plus.....should be prominent from the get go

3  Barely Been Kissed   useful mc debut in late August........work regiment since has been much improved.......expecting more today in 2nd lifetime start especially considering Mike Puype was a bit cold in August but he sure isn't now

10  Hanserella

7  Torre Italiana
