Santa Anita for Thursday 25 October 2012

[private]

For those of you that have been customers with us for a few months or more, now or in the recent past, we are considering a betting pool where we will select 1 or 2 gimmick wagers and any money returned will go to purchasing additional time for The Racing Digest.  Can't return cash as that could lead to some legal problems. I still have details to work out so I don't know if the betting pool will happen even if we get a good response. Please shoot us an email or leave a message on our cell 847-217-7502 asap (no later than this Sunday) if you have any interest so I can see the interest level out there. Most likely investment options will be in $20 increments.  i.e.  $20   $40   $60    $80    $100

Decent card to start the new week.

Best of luck as always!

race 1    average clarity

4  Stanwyck   vaulted forward in last off of 42 days rest........so 50 days rest seems like a good thing.......the question mark seems to be the fact that this race is her 1st endeavor racing on conventional dirt.......very formidable here if she handles the transition

2  Revered   filly stepped up out of a slow heat of mdn50k runners (seemed like it was a tune-up at the time) to MSW and ran 3rd beating eight runners with a vastly improved effort at 42 to 1....connections must have felt strongly that she was much better on the SA dirt track.....and she seems likely to move forward today 2nd out the a layoff

3  My Bashert   trainer is awakening out of the doldrums.....and speed has been king at 1 mile on the dirt at SA and this filly appears to own the most early gas

race 2    average clarity

1  Justa Gusta   Knapp has had a good 2nd 1/2 of 2012 ........gelding has a decent shot at getting loose here with a good speed jock in control and only 5 1/2 furlongs to last

5  Romar Success   not much in last........but........it was over 100 degrees that day and he ran poorly and there were many that put in uncharacteristically bad races that day.......debut race 2 back was solid....fits find if he rebounds to it

2  Zoom Bag   poor start in maiden debut last and had little pace to close into and yet still managed to win going away at the wire......very tough if he repeats the effort/energy with a smoother journey in his 2nd lifetime race

race 3    average clarity

4  Mr. T Bird   decent 1st ever on the sod in last and it looks like the race legged him up nicely because the 2 works since are vastly improved......expecting a solid move forward this afternoon

6  Tiznow Or Then   earned a strong adjusted for trouble figure with a wide trip in last which was run on the AW at Dmr.........off since but training as if he is ready to roll...........1st on the lawn but owns an OK pedigree for it.......top jock sticks with the colt for a 4th straight time

5  Money Talker   showed a significant improvement in last.......ran a par like effort for the given level........clean trip with a little pace up front to aid his closing style and he can be there at to wire competing for the win

3  Song Of Honor   1st timer is nicely bred to appreciate the grass and just popped a bullet 5F gate drill......only 3 works showing hints he has been working elsewhere........hmmmm

race 4    average clarity

5  Bipartisan   caught awfully wide close to a strong pace.......claimed by Hendricks who owns a good record 1st out after a claim......Hendricks might have the trump card for this gelding as he just worked an impressive 111:2.....that sets him up well for his 1st ever running a route of ground.......has enough speed to be up close from the get go

3  Dylan Donnelly   very strong efforts/figs run multiple times not to have graduated.........problem seems to be the fact he has never had his nose in front at any point of call in his races.......needs to learn what it means to pass his bothers

9  Stars and Moons   hello conventional dirt.........vast forward move in latest his 1st ever on the "real thing".........repeat of last fits nicely and he has the right to move forward 2nd out after the layoff

2  Lite That Baby Up    good mc debut 1 1/8 run at Fpx......never an easy task for a 1ster to handle 1 1/8 in a 3 turn event.......good sign Cerin steps him up double the claiming price......feeling good and he better be because this is a strong group

race 5    below average clarity

6  Warren's Passion    has run well in her last 3 conventional dirt races.........last was exceptionally strong and the works are very impressive since her last......so why the rating of "below average clarity"?  bit concerned this filly is up for an 8K claiming tag when she could be in nw2 12.5K race.........par time for both is essentially the same

5  Memo To Kathy    in my trip notes for this filly I noted she ran wide when she was alone with nobody around her way too far back on a day the inside was good........might have been the gimme of all gimme's........we shall see

4  Evening Twilight   2 for 2 lifetime at the abbreviated sprint distance of 5 1/2 furlongs........but both races were on the AW at Dmr........not too bad in latest (her 1st ever on conventional dirt) for the 1st 5F in a two turn 6F sprint.....might have disliked 2 turns so she wore down in the stretch

8  Moon Stone Madness   has only missed the board once in seven lifetime starts on conventional dirt surfaces.......Robbins has been a low % trainer the last few years but he has been doing well of late......up to a respectable 13% winers for 2012

Long-shot possibilities:   1  Bella Marino   in for 7K to get 2 lbs off and 7 lb apprentice is up......in light at 111 lbs.....very good recent drills especially considering this low level.....last win came in a 5 1/2F affair at 22 to 1......seems set to attempt another pricey upset again

race 6    average clarity

9  Swiss Emperor   solid awakening both in pace and final time in last back at a route and now Howard Zucker is able to get the meets leading jock in Talamo to ride.......should be on or near the lead and front runners have dominated the 1 mile dirt affairs this Fall at Santa Anita

6  Surely Swift   best ever in last his first ever running a route of ground on conventional dirt.....blinkers on seems like a good move to help this gelding stay forwardly placed which fits the distance as mentioned above

1  Jay's Firetruck    ran well with a couple of months off in March........2 months off here and the works hint he is ready fresh once again.....good post and proven at SA......takes a small drop in claiming off of a nice 2nd on 25 August

5  Thirteen Black   very strong energy/efforts in both lifetime conventional dirt races.....his last race was quite strong and is hidden by a bad trip.......word of caution though as this Spawr runner his yet to break well in all four lifetime starts

race 7    slightly above average clarity

6  Sweet Swap   really took to the SA hill turf course in last.......has learned to harness his speed some......and his recent drills strongly suggest he has never been sharper.......should be in it from start to finish

5  Smokey Lonesome   very consistent and smooth runner and back to Joe Talamo who is having the best meeting of his young life

3  Clubhouse Rules  blinkers on and a recent impressive bullet 5 furlong work-out.......assuming this runner worked with the blinkers on he sure seems poised for his best and his best down the hill should fit well versus today's competition

8  Truest Legend   hasn't fired a race that fits well enough here in quite some time......but he is the owner of a couple of stellar races in 2009.........and the 2+ month layoff might have done this 6 year old some good because he sure is working on the green stuff as if something has drastically changed for the better......more Jell Mullins turf magic?

race 8    average clarity

4  R Doubleday   all 3 lifetime races which were run on the AW fit solidly here and his pedigree suggests she might be even better on conventional dirt

3  Marmaris   not too much ability displayed in lone lifetime start which was way back in Dec of 2011.......but.......her work regiment in preparation of her return to the race wars hint she is returning a different much improved individual

12  Indian Magique   seems to have benefited greatly from a run down the SA hill turf course as the drills since that muscle building run sure are vastly improved.....rather sure moves forward today

7  My Moment Too    good debut at 34 to 1......will fit well if she makes a logical forward move in her 2nd lifetime start.....low % trainer but he is decent with 2nd time starters

10  Ya Wanna Hug

6  Blessed To Excess
