Hollywood for Saturday 24 November 2012

[private]

Another decent card and so far Sunday's also looks good.

Best of luck as always!

race 1    slightly above average clarity

4  Wellington Beauty   soft works prior to so so layoff run in last which was at SA.....blinkers on.....strong works now.....likes the Hol AW.....poised for top effort today

2  Hyena   2 wins and 1 2nd from 5f to 6F......1 for 1 at Hollywood......sharp recent reassuring 5F work-out.........Krigger knows the filly well having been aboard for all 4 lifetime starts

5  Swiss Bliss   tough call here with this mid pack runner as to when she brings her "A Game"......fits as well as anybody if she does.......2 for 2 with Maldonado (fell yesterday....riding?) and 0 for 5 with other riders

race 2    average clarity

8  Coyote Road   seems like a great spot for a 1st timer because the field sure appears weak......drills say ready and the trainer is stout with maiden claiming 1st timers

9  Warren's Bugler   on the improve with every start....also owns some early foot and only has 5 1/2 furlongs to hold together

4  Bandini's Rogue   last seen way back in Feb. at Tup but 1st time with Mullins......1st time racing as a gelding......and drops to bottom level maiden claiming which hints he might be ready fresh or Mullins would have placed him higher if this was a tune-up

3  Demand Success   1st timer is working fairly well.......trainer Mulhall wins and at a 23% clip with her mc 1sters.....seems like a good spot for new blood

Long-shot possibilities:   6  Mr. Day Tripper    owns dangerous early speed in an abbreviated sprint race of 5 1/2F.....out running his odds in last 3 races.....2 sharp little drills on the Hol AW

race 3    slightly above average clarity

1  Lanida   very impressive 1st on the turf in last is still a strong effort/fig at today's claiming level which is 15K higher.......a ton here if she duplicates the race run on the SA hill here on the 6F Hol grass course

3  Miss Becca    (6 4 2 0) when Bejarano rides.........(4 0 1 0) when other have been aboard........yikes

4  Deity   speed threat here if Talamo is able to shake off the early speed challenge of the Pedroza and the number 2 horse

race 4    slightly above average clarity

6  Toruk Makto   very strong efforts in both lifetime AW route races.....jock has woken up out of the doldrums some and knows this gelding well....sharp tightly spaced work series....muscled up and ready for today

4  Vantage Point   turf prep sprinting down the hill in MSW debut last.....bred to be a good route horse......full throttle today at a route in 2nd lifetime start.....Shirreffs is as hot as he has been in many a moon

2  Bipartisan   good move forward in last 1st time at a route of ground....good sign that Hendricks steps this colt out of maiden claiming and puts him in a MSW non-claiming affair.....expect same or better from this colt this afternoon

5  Mr T Bird   may have legged up nicely in 2 turf route endeavors because the drills on the Hollywo0d AW sure are getting good.......seems very fit and well prepared for his 1st route on the Hollywood main track

race 5    slightly above average clarity

4  Den's Legacy   on the right end of the learning curve......Baffert's only Achilles heel in the past has been turf racing but that has changed for the better of late with his grass runners....and he has Gomez up who won 4 races yesterday (and one 2nd) in 6 mounts

2  Under Review   sharp alw grass race at AP when last seen in late September....shows up in the Sadler barn and sure is training exceptionally well....rather sure ready to roll in his 1st run in sunny S. California

3  Rising Legend   another 1st in the Sadler barn runner......this colt last ran in mid Sept at Doncaster GB and he upset the apple cart at 8 to 1 in his 1st race at 1 mile on the sod.....seems dangerous here at the same mile grass distance to negotiate

6  Tree Of Life   sure ran decently in a Grade 1 at Kee in latest in his 1st ever route endeavor.......1st on the grass today but owns a good pedigree for it

race 6    average clarity

1  Green Team   somewhat hidden......didn't care much for 7F......previous 2 lifetime races were at 5 1/2 and 6 furlongs and both were very fast heats where getting beat by 9 like he was in both wasn't all that bad considering today's seemingly softer competition

4  Axle   4 of 5 lifetime sprint races including one that was run at Hol fit fine here.....jock and trainer both could use a win

3  Run Charlie Run   laid up Hendricks runner has an aggressive work regiment that hints at being ready fresh off of the bench......low % trainer with long layoffs but he might break the mold here

5  Patriotic Lion   1st time gelding today for this speed type 3 year old.....believe 1st ever mount for 10 lb apprentice.......sharp drills.....won't be the 1st time a trainer wanted a new jock to score in his/her lifetime riding debut

race 7    slightly below average clarity

12  Emmy's Hall    very tough post but this well proven grass cutter invading from Crc has the hot trainer in Hollendorfer taking over from a low % trainer from Florida........works are excellent and strongly suggest this filly is ready for lifetime best

1  Kanotwait   decent work tab for this G Mandella 1st timer who is quite good with MSW horses debuting on the green stuff........good sign Gomez accepts the mount

3  Perfectamente   expensive purchase probably needed her last.....bred fine to handle the turf......seems like a telltale day for the connections that shelled out some big money for this Tale of the Cat baby

8  Humming Beethoven    nice tightly spaced work series from the Puype barn for a 1st timer is often a dangerous thing.....we shall see

Possible Long-shot:    9  Nickomata   same as above but I believe this Puype runner might go off a price.......mom has tossed 3 grass winners from 5 starters

race 8    below average clarity

NOTE:   Splitting hairs in race no. 6 so as I do about every 3 weeks or so I gave a round down of all the horses that have a shot in preference order.

3  Moojha   seems like a good spot for an invader especially for one that has done little wrong in 2 lifetime starts at two different synthetic racetracks

8  Pink Blossom   fresh speed is dangerous speed especially with a trainer like Headley

5  Miss Oops   ultra consistent sort and 2 for 3 in the win column at Hol

4  Quizzical    (3 2 1 0) at 5 1/2 and 6F

1  Tiz The Tide   laid off Baffert runner isn't drilling stoutly like most Baffert fresh horses but after all it is BOB BAFFERT

7  Conkate   late runner finds trouble about 60% of the time but lookout when he doesn't

race 9    average clarity

5  Premier Steps    Chad Brown not only ships this nice turf filly from New York but he is 6 for his last dozen in the win column with overseas shippers.....filly seemingly faced better in GB and France

2  Travesura   big 1st ever on the sod sprinting in last.....bred fine to get 1 mile at the grass.......impressive weekly work series......moves forward today as most Mullins grass horses do

4  Miss Empire   consistent sort for Miller might feel really good coming off of an easy paced (stress-less) wire to wire win at GG

9  Flashy Ways   trainer has had a great year with limited starters and especially of late......recent bullet drill hints he can remain hot

race 10    average clarity

6  Free Time   speed of the speed in this spot steps up a little after a move forward in last.....track and distance are good fits.....4 lbs less today......can go eye to eye and still stick decently

1  Runstevierun    drop downs whole career fits fine at today's level........O'Neill has only one win at the Hollywood meeting......might be hungry for another

13  Stone Hot   laid up runner of Marty's Jones takes a significant drop in class and gets Talamo in the saddle.....an indication that he is ready to roll....late runner seemingly gets ample pace to close into

7  Sparkle Joe   vastly better in last than his previous race.....and just popped what might be the most impressive drill of this gelding's career and it was his 1st work on the Hollywood AW.......gotta lika that

11  Hombre Hughes    layoff run in latest is quite good considering it was at a distance that is a bit too far for this gelding.......cut back of 1 furlong and that layoff  race under his belt might do wonders

10  Rio Good   toss out last as this gelding acted up.....race 2 back is not too bad.....race 3 back is quite good.......shot at the circle of joy if we see that effort 3 back
