Santa Anita for Friday 18 January 2013

[private]

Good card today and a good card on Saturday.  Once again Talamo might have a good day as he is aboard one of our selections in the 6 races that he has mounts. He, along with Krigger, each won 3 yesterday.

Best of luck as always!

race 1    average clarity

3  Mom Nana Petrie    good maiden debut and it is somewhat hidden because this Mullins runner was wide on a good inside day.....and we get a small drop in claiming......and a rider upgrade....bred well to handle a route of ground

1  Lord Kitra   another with a poor trip in maiden debut and willing to drop a notch for 2nd lifetime start........Janet Armstrong is stellar with 2nd time starters and fairly  good 1st at a route

2  Sharp Bella    seems like the best of the rest.....great rider/trainer team over the years in Leparoux and Biancone

race 2    slightly above average clarity

3  Spring Bloom   last two grass races are quite strong for today's level......the great majority of Shirreffs runners have been firing.....and the extra 1/16 looks like a plus

7  Mum's Truckee   won MSW debut at GG in a grass route affair.....never an easy task..........could have won 2nd lifetime start also in a grass route race but had a poor trip......then ran so so in two races taken off the turf.....back on the green carpet today this time with little chance on rain

4  Always A Chance    last two wins came with 2 and 2 1/2 months off between starts......two+ months off today......repeat of his winning effort two back makes her a legitimate contender here

2  Tanquerray

race 3    average clarity

1  Melanistic   decent gate horse and rider have a better chance for a clean break than usual from the tough 1 post at 7F........very positive rider change......four year old filly is 6 for 11 on conventional dirt.....should be in it from the opening bell

2  Flashy Delight   all three lifetime races on the main track fit well here......somewhat of an alarming drop but did work as if she is OK just last week

7  Cupid's Bling   seems to like the surface at SA and gets a rider upgrade......just needs a couple of lengths of improvement and she will then fit just fine

6  My Kentucky Rose

race 4    average clarity

7  Forest Boy   powerful forward move 1st time ever on conventional dirt and/or 1st time blinkers in last......two very reassuring drills since........1 mile appears to be a nice fit

2  Footbridge   nice MSW debut in a sprint and this well bred fellow should greatly appreciate a route of ground........and Harty is much better with 2nd time starters

1  Curly Top   somewhat hidden move forward in last as this Baffert charge was outside on an inside track........did quite well to hang on for 2nd

6  Colburn

race 5    average clarity

6  Indecise   best ever in last sprinting down the hill 1st time with Gomez (best grass rider in S Cal in my opinion) on her back......and I believe this filly is better at a route......and Richard Mandella has been on a roll

1  I Dazzle   all six races since old timer Jack Van Berg took over fit here.........and she has a recent reassuring work that suggests she is still doing well

4  Jolly Days   very deep closer seems to be crying out for a grass race longer than a mile but she remains in a mile affair.......still she sure finishes with a rush and she has won 2 races at 1 mile

5  Sparkling Style

race 6    average clarity

9  Burton's Angel    scenario is:    nice work........nice work.......good sprint prep.........long today and last route race at SA 4 back is strong and it his hidden by a bad trip.....very wide on an inside day

7  Vaadka Logic   both lifetime "real dirt" races fit and one of them is disguised by a poor trip........1st at a route but owns good ES and puts the blinkers on.......dangerous wire to wire attempt here is likely

5  Sheskey   all 6 lifetime conventional dirt races fit well in this spot.......should get a nice ground saving chase or mid pack trip.......but........she is the epitome of a hanger........maybe a jock upgrade will help her get over her bad tendency to hang in the stretch

1  Fiesta Express

race 7    average clarity

6  Camile C   trainer is waking up........lone lifetime race down the hill is decent.....and what a significant rider switch especially for a hill grass race.......off two months but the last time this mare had two months off she just missed upsetting at 40-1 in a small Stakes at Fpx

3  Purim's Dancer   on the improve and now gets Gomez........Proctor/Gomez and made for one stout combo over the years

7  Hidinginplainsight   all 4 lifetime turf sprints are nice efforts 2 of which were down the SA hill grass course......and now we get a better sprint grass jock up in Talamo who is coming off a 3 bagger yesterday

8  Noise Of The Crowd

race 8   slightly above  average clarity

10  Whipstock    last 2 races run at twice the maiden claiming level sure are strong versus today's competition......and we get a rider upgrade.....works hint he is still healthy.....and why not drop to the bottom as he is 6 years old and still hasn't been to the circle of joy

6  Mayan Eyes   two straight journey's from you know where hides this Polanco runner's form.....ran well with short rest last Fall.....short rest today

8  Unmarked Bills   nice forward move in last turf to dirt.....can he keep the ball rolling dirt to dirt......not sure but he's a factor here if he does

2  Goodbye Charlie

3  California Wallop

7  Denny The Great
