Hollywood for Thursday 9 May 2013

[private]

Seems like a very nice card to start week number three at Hollywood with not one race rated any level below "average clarity".

Best of luck as always!

race 1    slightly above average clarity

5  Bodaway   colt has been rebounding........lone pair of races at Hollywood on the AW are very solid......not quite the same animal these days but he does seem placed where he very much belongs

2  Justa Gusta   three year old beat older claimers in his last........and he sure took to running from off the pace firing his best ever.......Knapp is off to one of his best starts in years in 2013

3  J J Be Chillin   very strong move forward in 2nd lifetime race off of 3 weeks rest........so there is a decent chance we will see much more today 2nd out off of the layoff and this time with 4 weeks rest

race 2    slightly above average clarity

2  Divine Way   solid drills for this O'Neill 1st timer especially considering today's level.......and O'neill is quite good with 2 year old maiden claiming debut runners

6  Pleasant Miss   last couple of drills hint at a ready to roll Kitchingman 1ster and the conditioner is off to one his best starts in many a moon in 2013 winning at a 30% clip with 37 starters.......and he has always been fairly stout with maiden claimers

5  Sweet G   another training as if meant and ready in his maiden debut.........training as if she has some early gas..........mom has tossed 5 winner in 6 starters 3 of which precociously won at two

4  Time To Be A Hero

race 3    slightly above average clarity

3  Square Dancer   on the improve with every start and training better than ever.......that is a very dangerous thing when Miller is the trainer and Gomez is the grass rider

5  Horizon Sky   two good sprint grass races on the SA hill grass course since arriving from Ireland for Jeff Mullins......and a mile on the grass should be a good fit as this gelding ran nicely at 7F on the grass in Ire at two....and if you handle the 7F distance at 2 another furlong should be a piece of cake at 3

6  Democrat Duck   on the right end of the learning curve but this colt will need the trend to continue in a big way today........and considering the trainer/rider have won their last 16 of 25 races as a team.....he might

race 4    average clarity

7  Raise The Hoof   Bonde 1st timer is training extremely fast with a set of works that would be solid for a 3 year old let alone a 2 year old.......and the connections get top gun Bejarano to ride

5  Willie B Awesome   1st timer is bred to prefer sprinting......and he is training quite well.........and he has a trainer who loves to be ready in these early baby races at 4 1/2 furlongs

2  Alpine Luck   another stout trainer in these two year old May races.......has shown both speed and endurance in his drills........rather sure this runner won't toss it in late with two 5F workouts under his belt

6  Geldautomat

race 5    average clarity

1  I'm Tops    mega awakening 1st out for Puype in latest which was this runner's 1st ever on the lawn and the race is disguised by a bad trip.....filly has handled the AW at GG in the past just fine

7  Oblivion   laid up Gaines runner is 2 for 2 sprinting on the AW.......both races were at GG and they both turned out to be key races........returns off the hiatus up for a tag so I doubt this race is a tune-up

4  So She Dances   solid race 2 back........toss out last as this Mark Glatt charge acted up in the gate......and it is a positive sign (that this mare has recovered from what troubled her)  Bejarano sticks around

8  Ghost N Your Heart

race 6    average clarity

7  Johnny Be Mine   powerful forward move in last.........solid 3 work series since.......rider upgrade.......red hot trainer.........plenty going for this selection

5  Awesome Indy    very solid horse when last seen in the Spring of 2011.........such a long time away from the game but returns as a gelding and sure is training as if he has returned in good shape for Marty Jones......1st on the sod but owns an OK pedigree for it........race has an abundance of speed so his mid pack style seems like a major plus

9  Kilat   owns significant early foot........cut back of 1/2 furlong looks like a good thing........needs to avoid a suicidal speed duel one way or another with anyone one of 4 other speed types

1  Pretty Darn Quick

race 7    slightly above average clarity

3  Esentepe   of the many handicapping decisions/factors to consider the race shape of this affair might be the most important......as this filly seems to be the controlling speed in a race void of any........mix that with one of the hottest rider/trainer combos on the planet and you have a top pick-a-roo

2  Sister Glady Oh La   Art Sherman runners are competing at a much higher level than his record for this Hollywood meeting would indicate.......his mare is well proven at this level and she is 3 for 6 at the distance.....and she also can sit close up which looks like the place to be here as mentioned above

race 8    average clarity

6  L L Cool Jo    better than par when you adjust for a very troubled trip........broke a little slow and was caught wide close to a solid pace in only her 2nd lifetime start and 1st on the sod....same distance with a better post today.......won't go off 79 to 1 again but should be a nice price.......Stra has looked good on a horse since becoming a new mom (never imagined I'd ever write that line for a jockey)

4  Dow Diva   improving sort owns good early speed in this spot and has a good speed rider in Maldonado in the irons and a good post in which to begin from......should be prominent from the get go

1  Tiz A Classy Lass   Marty Jones 1st timer is nicely bred for turf.........seems to be training well enough......and gets a good post and rider in which to start her career......and Jones is more dangerous with grass 1st timers as compared to dirt 1st timers

2  Tiz Zoe Cee

8  Krazpapaya

3  Roust 'em Bertie
