Hollywood for Friday 10 May 2013

Heart breaker in yesterday's nightcap as Kayla Stra rode our 14 to 1 top choice beautifully but unfortunately dropped the whip in the stretch probably costing her a trip to the winners circle and for many of us a sizable cash out. (The rolling bets were paying great.) The girl can ride and is deserving of more live mounts.

Just 8 days till the Preakness and for those still interested in our special full card Preakness day publication please sign up as early as possible as logistically speaking it helps us out some.

Best of luck this afternoon !

race 1    slightly below average clarity

1  Corner Office     seemed to rebounding in form......and just claimed and his new conditioner might have the trump card for this colt as he just worked a blistering 4 furlong bullet at Hollywood.........owns some back numbers that would handle these

2  Cook Inlet   won fresh off the bench in last.......might be feeling really good 2nd out after the layoff......top gun sticks around......supporting that he is

4  Hasty Trend   also seems to be on a rebound of sorts......history says that this seven year old is running at his favorite distance and favorite track

race 2    average clarity

5  Rossi Reserve   just when it looked like this bottom claiming level mare was slipping away she bounced back in here last......and since her a.m. work is improved

2  Racy Rosa   trainer could use a win and surely the rider could use a win......0 for 40 combined in 2013........but on the positive side this Josh Litt mare appreciates races at 6 1/2 and 7 furlongs (4 2 2 0).......so...... the extended one turn distance of 7 1/2F might be right up her alley

3  Plazarita   earned a very weak fig (in a poor running time) despite only getting beat by 1 1/4 for the win......but she is working markedly better since and her trainer has been on a roll......likely to move forward 2nd out after the layoff

race 3    slightly below average clarity

6  Lucky Cotton   broke slowly in MSW debut and that bad start greatly compromised his chances in a race with a slow pace up front on the SA hill grass course.....so so run on the dirt in last........back on the grass for 3rd career start and adds blinkers.....and man is he working like the equipment change has greatly helped

5  Tribal Dude   best career effort/fig was when Gomez rode in a sprint race on the turf......back to the turf and back to Gomez..........O'Neill runner owns the best turf credentials in the race

8  Dreamnofatticus   very solid work regiment for this Gary Mandella 1st timer.......nice turf breeding......and draws the red hot meet leading Bejarano in the saddle

2  Which Way Hank

race 4    below average clarity

4  Gloryandprayer   tepid top pick in this field where I wouldn't be surprised by anyone of the six entered coming home a winner.......Knapp runner fell off some in last.......needs a rebound to race 2 back.......filly might like the Bhp main track the best

5  Jesse's Giacomo   another who went the wrong direction in latest.......race two back would make her the one to overcome........low % rider up but he seems to do a nice job with O'Neill runner

3  O Happy Gray   much better history in sprint races.....blinkers on for today......better work......might wake up at a distance that she can handle

race 5    average clarity

5  Zuboff   very solid history sprinting on the AW or the turf........seems very pointed for today's race with 5 solid and tightly spaced drills at 6 day intervals......seems wound up and ready for best for Mike Puype

3  Boompa   bit of a goof in some of his races so coming off of a 10 week layoff as a 1st time gelding sure seems like a good thing.......and the work regiment hints that he is meant and ready fresh

2  U S Citizen   away for 9 months but he won his MSW here at Bhp at 1 to 1 at today's same 6F on the turf.......same rider......same trainer...... very likely to be ready fresh once again

race 6    average clarity

3  Cast A Doubt   lifetime best was his last and it was his 1st run ever on the Hollywood synthetic........blinkers off and training well.......my guess is Ellis has been teaching his runner how to run from off it if need be as he has been a lead type only so far......the one to beat if he duplicates his last run 1 year ago

1  Tizaplayer   solid mc30k debut........quite a bit better than par for today's higher level when you adjust trouble and pace........claimed by Pender in the race and he wisely steps this three year old gelding up

2  French Storm   not much on conventional dirt so his last looks like the gimme to drop and go back on the AW which he handles much better

5  Colossians

race 7    slightly below average clarity

1  Mind the Master   just keeps getting better.........and better...........and better..........and better.........and few reasons not to believe that the trend won't continue on this afternoon

5  Call Me Kelly   broke slow in latest and fired his best ever from off the pace.......hopefully the barn took note and won't have T C Baze go after the front to enhance his chances of better a better runner if not now then in the future

2  Fast Track   gelding does rather well when his connections stick to a level that fits which they do for the 2nd straight race.....1st on the Hol AW but he handles the AW up north quite well

race 8    slightly above average clarity

8 U'narack   strong MSW debut race on the AW way back in early Sept of 2012.......off since but training better than ever and returns as a first time gelding and with a more accomplished rider.......and he is conditioned by the red hot Jerry Hollendorfer.......1st on the sod but he has a stout pedigree for it

5  Meydan Magic    MSW debut was only a so so effort on the grass but Julio Canani is not very good with 1st timers.......good forward move on the synthetic in 2nd lifetime start......back to the sod for 3rd lifetime race..........Canani has won with 5 of the last 10 2nd time on the turf runners.......trainer looks to make it 6 for 11 here

7  Troy Story    seems much better suited running in turf sprints like today......back to Bejarano who will attempt to get this Truman runner to the circle of joy for the first time ever in his 18th lifetime start

6  Ambitious Brew

1  Heat Flash

2  Wild Tony
