Del Mar for Saturday 10 August 2013

[private]

Race 1 Average Clarity
2 Meter Me Gone - off over a year but training decently for her return, proven at the trip and surface, Kitchingman having a fantastic year
5 She's All Yours - connections and works make this mare the one to beat, but there are a number of speed types to contend with
3 Ralphy Girl - the inside one of the aforementioned speed types, try and catch me
4 Democratic Sweep

Race 2 Slightly Above Average Clarity
1 Miss Lafayette - finished full of run after a troubled trip in debut, solid interim work, Nakatani riding well lately
6 Southern Sunshine - very wide on a rail/speed bias day in debut, like the switch to Gomez
4 Fascinating - wide most of the trip in same debut as 2nd choice, rates to get a good stalking trip
2 Appearance

Race 3 Slightly Below Average Clarity
6 Tornado Allie - working steadily for return off 3 month freshening, lots of pace in this race and she should get good position just behind it
2 Funny Belle - usually do not like horses dropping off a win, but this race looks like a nice fit for her, Leparoux stays
4 Fiesta Express - was right there against these in last and now comes off an out-of-nowhere huge work
5 Town Belle

Race 4 Average Clarity
4 Rocky Barboa - wide with pace on a rail day in last, adds blinks which is a big angle for Kruljac
6 Orangeyouacutie - even wider than top pick last out, good to see Raffy stay put
1 Blazing Lute - big move forward in last and works indicate trend should continue, plenty of pace to run at
2 Shining Sun

Race 5 Slightly Above Average Clarity
1 Danderek - should move forward 2nd off the layoff, cutback in distance will help
9 Major Magic - Diodoro very good with stretchouts, strong work pattern, should get a good stalking trip
5 Beachcombing - solid effort after 10 months on the bench, a small move forward puts him right there
3 So Elite

Race 6 Average Clarity
6 Holy Candy - layoff run was very strong but hidden, should get plenty of pace to flatter his close
5 Blue Tone - powerful performance in last, any improvement will make him tough to beat
3 Top Drive - tactical speed should allow Smith to place him in a perfect spot, 8 panels looks like the perfect distance
7 Curly Top

Race 7 Slightly Below Average Clarity
4 Imperial Fortune - looks like Baffert figured him out between May and July, repeat of last will mean somebody has to jump up big time to beat him
10 Excludable - very intriguing based on the excellent work pattern and the fact that Baze saw fit to ride him at GG
2 Proven Warrior - last was a regression, but not as bad as it looks, first 2 efforts put him right there
5 Raider Power

Race 8 Slightly Below Average Clarity
9 Pure Loyalty - last looks pretty bad...except for 10 lengths of trouble, 2 huge works since and look who lands in the irons when other options were available
5 Greeley Awesome - deep deep closer should get plenty of pace to run at
4 Dry Summer - proven on the DMR turf and at the distance, love the recent 7F work
7 Freakin Rocket

Race 9 Average Clarity
2 Gifting - excellent works and pattern, tactical speed in a race devoid of it
9 Glorious Luck - will need more pace than anticipated to make her best run
10 Ubelongtomemissy - rates to benefit from the cutback in distance, working well for this
8 Mum's Truckee

Race 10 Average Clarity
2 Grant - earned a solid fig in last grass route, 7/20 work says he might translate it to the AW
6 Wildcat Candy - finally draws a decent post, 7 panels looks to be right in his wheelhouse
4 Wheeler George - pretty strong effort at GG, runners from there tend to like DMR, Abrams sees fit to put up his main boy
3 Trouble X Two
8 Cinco de Mario
10 Dark Timbers
