Del Mar for Wednesday 21 August 2013

[private]

Not the easiest cards to decipher with 3 of the 8 races rated less than "average clarity" Add to that the large fields and I would be happy to hold the 29.5% profit we are showing on our top selection (of each and every race) after 5 weeks of racing at Del Mar.

Best of luck as always!

race 1    slightly above average clarity

3  Sweet Assay   exits a fast 5F grass race at today's level running second with a substantial gap of 5 3/4L to 3rd......sharp work since........and a major league rider upgrade

6  Upbeat Mood   1 for 1 at 5F on the grass........and examining this fillies running lines it sure suggests 5F is a much better fit than 6 and 6 1/2F.......like our top selection this filly also has an impressive preparatory drill......and her's is on the Dmr grass course

1  Brilliant Melody   both lifetime endeavors racing less than 6F are wins......won mc debut by 5 1/2L on the AW at GG........and scored in her last at 5F on the sod at Dmr........back in short rest for O'Neill who is better than most getting horse's to run off of short rest

5  Golden Production

race 2    slightly below average clarity

6  Zip Cat   best ever was his lone race on the AW which was run at GG and most horses that handle the GG synthetic hand the Dmr AW......off since late June but drills say ready

3  No Rachmones   back in the Miller barn after a stint in Chi town.......makes sense as this gelding likes Dmr........in for lowest level ever off of the layoff tells me this is not a gimme or Miller would have protected him with higher level; placement

8  Mystical Mark   very competitive sort sprinting.......did slip some in last fig wise but sure finished up well in the late stages.......seems likely to rebound today

1  Langfurs Lightning

race 3    average clarity

12  Raisin' Cain   very solid pace and final time for the filly 8K level in latest......and sure appears to be the best speed in this spot.......gate to wire win should happen if she repeats her last effort/energy and breaks well

6  Unkept Rendez Vous   earned a solid adjusted for trouble fig in last breaking bad and running wide.......top gun Bejarano will be out to make amends on the drop of two claiming levels.......late runner might need more pace than anticipated here

4  Frequent Fame   great chance to save some ground sitting in the mid-pack position as the two horse inside of her are slow early.......and.......her history in the mid-pack position is quite good

5  La Torres

race 4    average clarity

3  Sebastian Flyte   new trainer Kitchingman takes over and he is having one of his best years in many a moon......last race for this six-year-old was OK versus better.....race 2 back is solid......hot/trainer ride combo as well........best in awhile for this runner seems likely

7  Mr. Bossy Pants   ultra consistent grass sprinter's only attempt at 1 mile on the sod is quite good......and he drops 4lbs. today.........jock is getting to know this auto-pilot type quite well as this is the 5th straight mount on him

5  Surrey Star   1st and 2nd the last two times this grass cutter ran dropping down......in general his trainer historically is decent when he does

2  Oak Kye Why

race 5    slightly below average clarity

5  Song Of The Times   works sure are decent for a mc Cal-bred two-year-old......and Bejarano and his agent see fit to ride the horse.......only went for $10K at sale so why not enter in a 50K mc

3  Cinmars Dance    good speed put into this Kruljack 1ster in spring and now some endurance put in in summer.......not the best of 1st start conditioners but this one does seem ready at first asking

2  Anythingtogeteven   has always works well in the a.m. including lately and now is starting to run in the p.m........learning curve is likely to continue this afternoon in the desired direction

1  Clouds Clearing

race 6    below average clarity

5  Master Chef   ultra consistent runner sprinting on main track surfaces finally tossed a clunker in last.......sharp trainer stopped on him avoiding the rigors of the afternoon........and has him all wound up and ready to roll in the a.m.

12  Raised A Secret   seems to fire to some degree in every lifetime sprint........wide trip in last or could have won Stakes race......one for one (his only lifetime win) at 6F......top pick if it wasn't for such a tough post (posts 10-12 sprinting on the main track are 4 for 74)

10  Open Doors   speed of the speed here and that has been a dangerous thing at Del Mar 2013.....not out of this

3  Floating Feather

race 7    average clarity

7  Broken Sword   big effort 1st ever at a route on the grass and it is disguised by a bad trip.......blinkers on and good drills bode well for her chances today fresh off of the bench.........and considering she won on the dirt by 11L in her MSW debut last summer fresh might be plus

4  Qiaona   solid efforts in both lifetime grass races at GG........good sprint prep on the AW in latest......should be sharp for today's turf route........and gets the services of a heating things up Gomez

2  What A Spot   obvious AW sprint 18-1 gimme in last........sharp drills since the prep........full throttle go go go today

9  Diocesan

race 8    average clarity

9  Katey Pie   broke slow and ran wide in a better than it looks in print maiden debut........and maybe most importantly if you subtract the 2 1/2 lengths of bad start you have a filly capable of setting some decent early fractions......and last but need least Kruljac historically is better with 2nd time starters

6  Glads Gals    all three lifetime races fit well here......blinkers on and a near bullet drill.......hints that the equipment change is a plus

8  Moonlight Splitter    exits a fast heat versus better and had little chance running wide on an inside track......another working well and with my assumption that the new equipment for today (blinkers) were on for his workout.....almost always the case

10  Floatthrutheair

1  Tiz Vegas

11  Oh My Enberg
