Santa Anita for Saturday 19 October 2013

[private]

So So card today. At 1st glance Sunday's card looks quite good.

Best of luck as always!

race 1    slightly below average clarity

5  Impeccably   Kitchingman is much better with filly 1sters than the colts......and......he is quite good with maiden claiming 1sters including high priced ones......and of course the works suggest she is ready

1  Red Barris   Pete Miller 1st timer is showing both speed and endurance in her good looking work regiment....and mom has tossed 3 winners from 3 starters all of which precociously won ay two

3  Sergeant O'rourke   another Miller first starter training up to snuff to possibly be ready to roll and compete at a high level in her maiden debut

race 2    average clarity

7  The Cleaners   wide trip in a grass sprint at Hollywood in MSW debut way back in Nov of 2012 is better than appears in print........off since but working as if he is returning ready at 1st asking........Bejarano stays aboard

1  Brave Act   proven runner on the SA hillside turf course........decent useful layoff grass race in last.........should have some nice endurance put into him to finish up well today at 1 1/2 furlongs less to travel

8  Corinthian's Song    most of his 8 race grass career fits well here.....but he must overcome a strong tendency to hang in the stretch.......maybe his fist ever in a grass sprint race will do the trick

2  Intoclassymischief

race 3    average clarity

3  Zippingaroundtown   lead type only seems to have the best early gas in the field and......might get loose and if he does he................might......................go......................all.......................the.........................way

1  Ol' Steely Blue   invader ran better than par when adjusted for trouble in his 1st on the SA dirt.........1st time for Carava and Jack wheels him back in 6 days and drops him a notch......good sign Bejarano remains up especially for a horse attempting to run off of such short rest

5  Private Bounty   seems like the best of the off pace runners......appreciates the six panels that he will have to travel today.....would have rated higher if it wasn't for Mike Mitchell being rather cold of late

7  Barney Rebel

race 4    average clarity

3  Lord Vronsky   on auto-pilot the last two years.......8 wins......4 2nd's........4 3rds in 17 starts.......seemingly never sharper..........and a strong recent 4F drill is most reassuring that he has held form

4  Olympic Blue   sure has been competing well at higher levels of racing........4 for 7 on the sod.....has to fall of form or get a bad trip to not be in the hunt here

5  Very Unusual   speed of the speed here might last a long way with the cut back of 1/8th of a mile from his last......dangerous if allowed to slow it down to more a reasonable set of fractions then he has been setting

7  Tricky Shane

race 5    slightly below average clarity

5  McKenzies Way   plenty of early speed in this affair likely will flatter his late running style.......so so race in latest.....what we want is a rebound to his effort 2 back which is very strong.....1st time Bejarano

1  Newfoundgold   consistent sort had a turf over his head tune-up in his layoff run.......drops for his full throttle go this afternoon

3  Sammy'a A Runnin'   off since January but sure finds a good spot for his late running style if he has returned ready to roll in his return to the race wars

8  Macias

Long-shot consideration:  6  Chasing The Heat   3 wins in 4 starts on conventional dirt rated "fast" and 2 of those wins were at SA......0 for 8 on other surfaces........hello "real dirt"

race 6    average clarity

3  Cinco De Mario   big wake up two races back.......way too close to a nasty pace in last.....toss it out.......cut back in distance is often a good thing when running on the SA hill for the 1st time

1  Field Report   no doubt best animal in the field but hangs badly if he doesn't snatch the lead......last time he lead was 10 races back and he won.....not much speed in this race so he does have a shot at the front end

10  Myfundsarelo   won his maiden debut 2 races back in a race at Hollywood on the synthetic.......and most horse's that run well on the Hollywood AW handle the grass........nice work regiment at Bhp especially considering the level of racing.....and decent grass pedigree

5  Red Man Run

race 7    slightly below average clarity

9  Summer Exclusive   only two lifetime races with the blinkers on as they are today and they are arguably the 2 best races of this gelding's 6 race career........also 1 for 1 sprinting on the dirt and at was at SA....and it was his MSW debut.....and he handled the 11 post

7  No Contingency   best on conventional dirt......best with the blinkers off......and his trainer L Powell has been firing on all cylinders late for the most part

6  Native Treasure    somewhat suspicious drop into claiming for the 1st time but very dangerous fresh off the bench if he is still in relatively good physical condition

1  Syndicated

race 8    average clarity

2  A Toast For You   best rest short rest (take a look at 12 Jan & 24 Feb) and that is the case today.......and gets in with light weight as he did on 24 Feb

5  Starspangled Heat  consistent late running grass horse fired most of the time when Abrams was ice old for an extended period of time......and now he is red hot.....so I would say there is the potential for a big effort today

7  Ain't No Other   like the work tab.....like the consistency.......like the trainer/rider combo.......not much not to like

4  Atta Boy Pete

race 9    average clarity

6  Singleinthelast   bred to appreciate route racing and has 2 sprint running lines that would suggest a route of ground will be a good thing......and he takes that ever dangerous drop out of MSW racing

5  Water Issues   improving with every start and the last 2 races are somewhat disguised by poor trips.......solid adjusted for trouble fig for today's level in latest......would have been top selection if it wasn't for his ? able route pedigree

1  Full Of Slew   handled two turns in a Fairplex sprint fairly well in last.....blinkers on and a vastly improved 5/8ths drill......equipment change might have improved this filly quite a bit

7  Papa's Flashy Girl

9  She's Flush

3  Royalty Dunn
