Hollywood for Thursday 7 November 2013

[private]

So so card to start the very last meeting at Hollywood Park and Friday's card seems similar.....but alas.......Saturday's appears quite good.

Best of luck as always!

race 1    slightly below average clarity

4  Copper Bay   vastly improved on the sod in latest the 2nd out since the Mitchell claim..........the effort in hidden by a bad trip......broke slow and ran very wide starting from a nasty post.....1st ever on the AW but most horses that handle the turf handle the Hollywood AW

1  Ransom Canyon   another who has only run on the grass so far.........four-year-old has worked just fine at Bhp on the synthetic..........fell off some in last but was somewhat washed out at post time.......toss it out......1st out for Miller following the claim

2  Full Consent   drop makes sense as this Mullins charge only went for $2,700 at sale........1st at a route but did win his debut in a two turn sprint at Fairplex........Tennessee-bred has an OK pedigree to handle his 1st on AW surface

race 2    slightly above average clarity

1  Hear The Ghost   this Hollendorfer three-year-old gelding probably is pointed for bigger things and this might be a prep of sorts but even at 80% of his best he can be formidable here........and if he is fully meant & ready he will be a ton

2  Cyclometer   Bruce Headley seemingly laid kind of low at SA so he might have geared up for a big meeting at Hollywood......and the way in which this fellow is training hints the fun starts here

3  Ready for More   1st out after the pricey claim by Mike Puype..........gelding fits if our top choice doesn't bring his "A game" and he handles the AW better as his 1st couple on it were unimpressive.......if he doesn't handle it today that is "strike three" which says......stay on the "dirt"

race 3    slightly above average clarity

3  Public Interest   very impressive late run into a soft pace in last and it was his 1st at a route and 1st on the turf........ran 2nd to a toughie.......extra 1/16th appears to be a plus........trainer is awakening

4  Sidepocket Champ   owns solid sprint speed on the main track and if that good early foot transfers to the grass he ought to be loose here.........pedigree for the sod is decent........another conditioner who is waking up of late

9  Prospector's Trick   gimme/go last winter produced a solid 2nd lifetime start.........so layoff last sets up the same scenario here......1st at a route is a question mark.......Bejarano and his agent must think it is doable as Bejarano is on this Puype runner for the 1st time

1  Thunder Cole

race 4    average clarity

7  Eddie's Curl   3 of 4 lifetime races (and one is disguised by a trip from you know where) fit awfully well here.......drop down doesn't bother me too much as she started her career for the exact same tag

2  Too Obvious   ought to welcome a return to the Hollywood synthetic as it is easily the best of 3 lifetime endeavors and it was her MSW debut too boot.......and she takes that ever dangerous drop from MSW racing to maiden claiming

1  Sweet Lips Pooh   finally a top tier rider (well at least some of the time) gets on this Solis filly following 6 lifetime starts with low percentage jocks up..........2 of 5 lifetime sprints fit here including her race 2 back

4  Mudge

race 5    slightly below average clarity

2  Promiscuoussuances   awfully tough when up for 25K to 32K........blinkers back on ought to help her be on or near the front where she does her best running

1  Madeoffwiththemoney   O'Neill seems to have claimed a very sharp horse.......past 5F turf figs fit solidly here.......6 1/2F turf figs aren't too bad but less fig wise than the 5F turf races.......so cut back of 1/2 furlong logically seems like a plus

11  Kilted Tilt   definitely on the decline but likely ready for whatever her best is these days as it has been one and done (off for lengthy time periods) in her last 3 starts

3  Diety

Long-shot consideration:   9  Vegas Rules   never better and her last grass race run 2 races back is a par for the level effort when you adjust for trouble which was......check 1 1/2L on turn.....block 2L is stretch

race 6    slightly below average clarity

8  Majestic Moment   just claimed by Mike Pender......big recent 5/8ths drill since the claim.....drops a notch.......(7 2 0 2) at today's distance.......(7 0 0 0) at all other distances

2  Moment of Weakness   last fits and this Belvoir runner is a better racehorse on the synthetic.......good trainer/rider combo of late.....should be able to get a nice close to the front ground saving position into turn 1 which is 1/2 the battle

4  Tamarack Smarty   very big race turf to conventional dirt 4 races back.......as good a shot as anyone in this affair if this Mitchell runner can do as well today turf to AW

6  Unusual Jazz-tie for 4th if pick if number 13 Graeme Crackerjack draws in from Also Eligible list

race 7    slightly below average clarity

4  Boller Bomb   decent history running back in short rest.........and 6 1/2F turf to 1 mile turf produced a win last Spring.........seems set up for a strong effort today and has a good chance of getting a good trip with tactical speed and a good post and rider

5  Rosies Ready   new much improved runner since the blinkers were put on four races back......appears to have the best early speed and with a good "on the front end" jock in Maldonado

7  Marcyjane   seems best at today's distance of eight furlongs.......big race 2 back.......might be the one to beat if she finds that effort once again today

8  Miss Well Molded

Long-shot consideration:   1  Warren's Flasher    horrendous trip in last hides an effort that would shock em here if she manages to duplicate the effort and she gets a good trip.....11 post in last to 1 post today sure can help

race 8    average clarity

10  Amanda    on the improve with every lifetime start and her last is somewhat hidden by a wide trip.......and I sure like that today's race is her 1st ever back in relatively short rest and with a workout since her latest.......three-year-old filly is likely feeling good

6  Renegade Ride    last was decent finishing 3rd despite being wide and close to pace..........and she sure got pounded at the windows......cut back of one furlong appears to be a plus.........reassuring 5F drill since her last

12  Katey Pie   3 of 5 lifetime races fit quite well here......would have rated higher if it wasn't for a low percentage jock having to cope with the outer-most 12 post

3  Harlan's Trick

8  Truly Awesome

4  Full Of Spice
