Hollywood for Thursday 28 November 2013

[private]

Happy Thanksgiving!

Best of luck as always!

race 1    average clarity

3  Brown Is Beige   1st out following the Diodoro claim........mare likes Bhp......sharp preparatory a.m. work.......cut back in distance a plus......should be on or near the front end in a race where that position likely will be a good thing

4  Inner Grove   drops again but Bejarano stays aboard indicating this six year old mare has remained healthy enough.......like our top pick this Carava runner seems likely to sit close to the front in a race that looks as if it will favor those that show some early speed

6  Lia Juliana   nice wake-up since the blinkers were removed two races back.........good chance to be closing in the late stages especially if there ends up being more pace than I anticipate

race 2    average clarity

8  Humor Me   disappointing 3 straight starts for this Baffert charge following a solid MSW debut 11 months ago.....but.......finally gets to run on the Hollywood synthetic where she has been training and the works are really starting to heat up.......and owns some speed in a race that lacks it

2  Dreamy Blues   4 1/2 length beaten 2nd but it was a fast heat so let's call it a strong MSW debut......2 reassuring works since......same or maybe even better seems likely today

5  Mesana    very strong work regiment for this 1st timer and that is fairly rare for a John Shirreffs maiden debut runner........rather sure this filly in meant and ready for her debut into the wonderful world of thoroughbred racing

3  Sea John's Spirit

race 3    average clarity

9  All On the Table   good trainer/rider (Powell/Garcia) combo the last couple of months......owns two very solid 6F turf races at Bhp with his last coming the last time Garcia rode......seems to be in decent form so if that is so the drop seems significant here

5  Tangerine Tickle   two best efforts out of five lifetime races are the two times this Kathy Walsh runner ran at 6F on the turf at Hollywood......usually reliably good conditioner has had a dismal 2013 but she sure got a nice recent 6F work out of this runner.....maybe she can jump start her barn with this filly

8  With A Miracle   positive: on the upswing since Ron Ellis took over the training duties........negative:  five-year-old mare's history on the grass has only been so so at best........tough call

2  Creditcardrouletted

race 4    average clarity

4  Majestic Stride   four-year-old gelding has done little wrong in 5 lifetime sprints including only getting beat by 1 1/2L in his last in the B C Sprint.......1st ever on the Bhp surface is a ? mark

2  Handsome Mike   finally woke up in last.....shows signs that he is learning how to rate some and that likely would be a good thing in this affair where some strong fractions seem inevitable

6  Color Of Courage   won MSW debut and also won off of a 1 1/2 year layoff.....so a layoff of 2 1/3 years should be right up his alley......only true off pace runner in a field of only 5 likely will make for a good trip with no traffic until late

race 5    slightly below average clarity

7  Thunder Cole   overdo for a decent journey on the sod and might get it today with a decent post and a switch to the meets leading rider in Rafael - hotter than usual - Bejarano.......decent horse in a soft looking group

2  Hurryhank   decent 1st ever on the sod in a race run at GG........draws another hot jock (especially last week) in Talamo.......and trainer Andy Mathis is quite dangerous with shippers

8  Wings of Mojave   seems best on the Hollywood grass course........1st time gelding today and 2nd out after a layoff.......so.......the potential for a move forward might be in the cards

6  Good Company

race 6    slightly below average clarity

5  In Dad's Honor   bit over-matched in both lifetime MSW races.......drop into maiden claiming 50K makes sense as this filly obviously found MSW racing too tough and........she went for 50K at sale

1  Too Obvious   3 of 4 lifetime races sure fit fine here.......and 1st time Bejarano.........and last but not least Jeff Bonde runners have for the most part been firing on all cylinders of late

4  Everheart   1st timer seems to be training well enough to be dangerous in her maiden debut......and mom has tossed one winner from one starter

8  Princess Genevieve

race 7    average clarity

4  Dry Summer    4 of his last 6 efforts fit well here.........last 3 wins came the last 3 times this Mullins runner ran in races other than Graded races......condition allowance here........and look who wants the mount.........Bejarano

6  Fury Kapcori   most talented three-year-old in the field so it comes down to how much he will appreciate grass racing as this his first ever on the green carpet.......sure seems likely to take to it as mom has tossed 4 grass winners in 5 starters........he can make it 5 for 5 with a win today

1  Pure Loyalty   finally draws a good post following 4 straight outside posts......nice sprint win in latest......lone route grass win came sprint to route

8  Procurement

race 8    slightly below average clarity

7  Moon Ride   both lifetime AW efforts run at the MSW level fit solidly here at the maiden 40K level......so so run on the sod in last.......connections probably tried the grass before they were willing to drop........Bejarano sticking with this Puype runner is a very good sign it is all business today

4  Princess Of Pearl   another running today at her lowest level ever.......off since July but has a nice work regiment and her last preparatory drill is very impressive......very sharp when in counts.....right before a start

8  Heavens Stairway   horrid MSW debut last......broke slowly and rushed wide.........did well to only get beat by 10L........would have been top pick if Josh Litt wasn't so cold........if this was two years ago with the way Litt was going I would say go to the windows and stay there to collect

10 Shand

6  Lady Lucky

9  Truly Beautiful
