Hollywood for Sunday 1 December 2013

[private]

Obviously a terrific card quality wise and it wasn't too shabby handicapping wise either with only race number one rated lower than "average clarity".

Best of luck as always!

race 1    slightly below average clarity

6  Storm Coming Thru   impressive 6F two turn win at Fairplex in last......looks like a private purchase by Doug O'Neill since.......and he gets the services of the meets leading rider who has won 8 of his last 33 mounts for the trainer over the last two months

1  Heyyoucan   on the right end of the learning curve for sure.....repeat of last fits......more would be icing on the cake

5  Easy Topper   was on the improve until he went backwards some in latest.....needs a rebound to his effort two back and he should fit fine here if he provides one

4  Oneandonlyloveman

race 2    average clarity

6  Coco de Carchy   2 wins and a 2nd in 3 lifetime starts on the Bhp AW........solid effort/fig in last deserving of a step up in claiming.......this might be his last shot to run on a surface she loves as Hollywood closes for good in 3 weeks

5  Pebble Beach Baby   maybe a bit too ambitious here winning 1st out after the claim for 32K and then running in a little too tough at 40K and higher.....drops to lowest level since O'Neill claimed.....and he likely means business with the threat of losing her

4  Majestic Stinger   jock has ridden this filly with good success in the past.....just claimed by Ellis and he leaves Delgadillo up.........and Delgadillo has won his last to mounts for Mr. Ellis

race 3    average clarity

5  Yomybato   lifetime best was run turf route to 7 1/2F AW at Bhp......turf route to 7F at Bhp today.......and a recent blistering 5/8ths bullet work hints this five-year-old is sharp

Big Wags   10 wins and 10 2nds in 37 starts on fast rated tracks.....and even better than that when Spawr has trained the gelding......and last but not least the same jock has ridden this fellow for a very long time and with obvious success

3  Half Dome Dude   last two races are quite strong.......Bob Hess likely believes his five-year-old is doing awfully well as he steps him up in claiming multiple levels

6  Magic Beam

race 4    average clarity

2  Snaps   solid 1st ever on the sod in 2nd lifetime start.......3 reassuring drills since.....and Bejarano remains in the saddle........good post.......that'll do

5  Pot Roast   Proctor is hot......Talamo is hot.........1st timer is working impressively hitting the track every 6 or 7 days without interruption since late summer.......plenty of foundation put in (including a one mile drill) to be fit enough to handle a route at 1st asking

3  Well Lawyered   decent 1st at a route (on the AW) in last.........solid aggressive works since.......seemingly sharpest of his career in preparation for his first on the grass........and he owns a pedigree that should handle the new surface

4  Maxx The Giant

Long-shot consideration:   6  Fast Mask   very solid move forward in last in a one mile grass race.........wide and close to the pace.......did as well as anyone in the race to only get beat by 4 3/4L......jock is struggling but has been a decent rider in the past outside of California.......sure would be a good day to get his act together and give this bomber a ground saving trip

race 5    average clarity

3  King Maya   solid figs in both races following a 6 month hiatus from the track.......obvious health issues but Talamo stays up and this Cerin colt will be very tough in this spot if he has another good race left in him

10  Zip Cat   horrid trip in last or would have won easily at one notch higher........new better trainer today......new better jock as well.......would easily have been top choice if there wasn't so much early gas in the field.......as so far in his 9 race career he has shown a need to be on the front end to preform well

6  Private Bounty   average form right now and the trainer is somewhat cold but this affair sure looks set up to favor off pace runners like himself.........very dangerous if he gets as nasty of a pace set up front as I expect

9  Street Car

race 6    average clarity

4  Jack Milton   well proven at today's mini marathon 1 1/14 mile distance and that is 1/2 the battle........not the best of trips in last 3 endeavors......good post and a stout jock will be out to rectify that today

6  Admiral Kitten  ultra consistent sort on the sod (7 2 5 0 ) and it appears the further he gets to run the better.....great rider/trainer combo over the last two months in Leparoux/Maker

3  Gervinho   on the right end of the learning curve and gets a good post........bad trip in last running too wide and close to the pace......Bejarano knows the grass cutter well and likely will make amends with a good ride today

5  Seek Again

race 7    slightly above average clarity

4  Proven Warrior   ultra impressive in 1st two career starts both of which were on the Bhp synthetic........wake up race in latest which was on the grass and the race is disguised by a bad trip......appears fit and ready to run a significant effort back on his favorite surface

5  Battled   only so so in both lifetime races (which were run last winter) by Bob Baffert standards.......but he looks like a vastly better runner 11 months later if his a.m. work is worth a hoot

3  Forest Boy   Sadler trainee seemingly is in an every other pattern and today he is on the right end of the pendulum

8  Secretsatmidnight

race 8    average clarity

3  Wishing Gate    broke slow and ran wide and still won a Grade 3 in her latest....don't see that too often in a Graded race.......previous race she almost won a Grade 1 despite sitting too far back behind a lackluster pace......and........Proctor runners are firing on all cylinders of late

7  Pianist   Big Apple invader just ran her 2 best ever 1 1/16th efforts.......and she is at her best at one mile........so it's seems logical that she has the potential to run her overall best ever today back at her favorite distance

5  Tiz Flirtatious   extremely reliable Graded Stakes mare should have won this race last year but was greatly compromised by a bad trip where she checked 3L on the back-stretch and got blocked a length in the stretch

8  Better Lucky

race 9    average clarity

4  Five Palms   solid MSW debut win for this Bob Baffert colt and the works since suggest the good times will continue for the connections

9  Big Macher   excellent job of training by Bob Baltas who turned around rogue behavior into a smooth running successful three-year-old

12  Demonic    won MSW debut impressively way back in January........off since but training as if the barn is all bizz as they obviously were for his MSW debut where he went off at even odds

11  Got Even

Long-shot consideration:   7  Jovita's Tuffy    believe the barn was surprised a bit in this gelding's debut as he went off at 22 to 1 odds and won last May......got hurt on the sod in his next start in June.......laid up since but working impressively and likely with greater expectations for Mitchell and company

race 10    average clarity

8  Sharp Richard   decent 1st ever under the guidance of Mullins in last......went off at 24 to1 and showed only one drill prior to the start.........6 tightly spaced works since and the last is his best.....rather sure fires more today

2  Copper Bay  last on the turf was run 2 races ago and it was very impressive........ broke slow and ran way too wide and yet only was beaten by 3L........jock (son-in-law to the trainer) best be out to make amends today

11  Sizzlin' Joe   overdo drop for this Jones runner who has managed only a 3rd place finish in eight starts in 2013.........fits fine with these if Rosario manages a decent trip from a difficult outside post

1  Ransom Canyon

4  Moonlite Meteor

5  Will He Amaze
