Santa Anita for Sunday 12 January 2014

I like today's card as you can tell by the clarity ratings.....and......only 3 of our top selections are morning line favorites.

Best of luck as always!

race 1    average clarity

3  Yomybato   few can finish well in this group but this newbie for Hollendorfer can.....love the tightly spaced work regiment starting on 11 Dec. and the fact this new Hollendorfer runner worked a solid 5F just 3 days ago.......feeling good

1  Polytechnicien   scratched out of a one mile turf 25K claimer yesterday most likely because of a rotten far outside post......good post today......blinkers on and strong recent works.....often a dangerous combo.....big back numbers

2  Kingpin Ryno   trainer has been cold but in the past he has been awfully stout 3rd out after layoffs which is the case here......and.........this six-year-old might get loose (about a 60;40 chance of it) and brave on the front end

race 2   average clarity

3  I Don't Care Who   2 for 2 at the distance and both of the races were on the SA conventional dirt......off since Oct but works suggest he is ready.......likely to get an up close ground saving trip with a reasonably pace

1 Tenkiller Kid   nicely improved since O'Neill yanked the blinkers off this gelding.....big step up from mdn20K but his last was out of a fast heat for mdn20K and he didn't have the best of trips.......and he has multiple races in his past that are hidden efforts as well

4  Full Consent   semi-soft time in winning his last but he accomplished the task despite being rather washy.......rider upgrade and shiny coat today.....and......he likely can move forward enough to be a player

race 3   average clarity

5  Flaxen Maiden   woke up some in latest after two dismal efforts......race 4 back is very strong versus today's foes and he ran it at SA and at one mile on the grass.....last fits somewhat..... race 4 back would likely win here

6  Cavalletta   consistent grass cutter but hangs........but........he might lead here with the blinkers and if he does there won't be a horse in front of him to hang on like his wire to wire win 9 races back at Bhp

3  Readyforhercloseup    just claimed by Belvoir at GG and it sure looks as if the blinkers on for today has made his newbie an improved individual as his a.m. prowess is vastly improved.........very dangerous shooter here

4  Moon Ride

race 4   slightly above average clarity

7  One Magical Girl    very powerful fig/effort for this Baltas mare in her latest.....might be a little better on the AW but she has won on the SA dirt and sure likes the abbreviated sprint distance of 5 1/2F.......reassuring recent 4F work since her last......likely still in good form

8  J Louie   another with a solid fig/effort in latest albeit a turf effort..........but she's proven on conventional dirt and like our top pick 5 1/2 is a good fit

4  Brown Is Beige   very disguised wake-up in last - broke slow 2.5L - ran wide 4.5L - close to a solid pace 4L - 11 lengths of trip adjustment......better than par when adjusted for trip and pace

1  Lia Juliana

race 5    average clarity  -  tech trouble names/numbers only

8  Katie's Garden

4  Our Pure Creation

2  Peppy Bolly

7  Splendid Fortune

race 6    average clarity

6  J And S Express   Vann Belvoir has improved this mare of late (since removing the blinkers) who appears best suited for the grass........showed solid pace and final time in latest and the works since have never been better......same or better effort seems likely today........should get a nice stalk position in a race without much speed

5  Always A Chance   another who seemingly is on the improve.......only race down the majestic SA hill turf course is good and disguised by a poor trip-a-rooo.......good sign retains Bejarano.......sharp reassuring recent drill

7  Velvet Mesquite   won like a good thing down the hill in MSW debut as our top selection......good drill since......needs a little more today and surely can deliver with a race under her belt

2  Vegas Rules

race7    slightly above average clarity

5  Warren's Veneda   hot rider/trainer combo.....both lifetime races on conventional dirt are very strong and somewhat hidden........and her works on the SA dirt are also quite stout.....rather sure she gives a good account of herself today

1  Halo Dolly   the epitome of consistency and on any surface and she has been especially stout running on main track surfaces at today's distance.........4 wins from 6 starts.....that'll do

7  Rock And Glory     3 for 5 lifetime when loose on the lead and the figs earned in those races fit here.......seems likely to get loose .......so......very dangerous speed type this afternoon

2  Miss Serendipity

race 8    average clarity

9  Ready For More   just fired best ever on the AW and had about 5L of trip adjustment.....so hidden some.....and I believe this gelding is best sprinting on the grass....gets 1st time Smith......and Smith and his agent sure have been very selective and very good at getting on the right horse this meet

8  El Mirage King   loves the SA hill and his last two efforts on it are greatly hidden by tough trips........new rider today to get that trip in Nakatani who is solid down the hill

5  Tripski    very consistent grass cutter won this condition in his last (and it was 1st time for Asmussen)  over at Bhp.......1st on the hill but he has handled multiple sprint turf courses so I doubt the SA hill will pose a problem for him or his rider

3  Pure Loyalty

race 9    slightly above average clarity

4  Moscato Girl   likely will welcome being back on the SA dirt........repeat of her debut race 3 back on it's conventional dirt surface likely takes this affair.....good sign Bejarano sticks around for a 4th straight race

2  Red Barris   just fired lifetime best in latest and her only other race at SA was her 2nd best in 4 lifetime races.........will need a little more today if our top pick brings her best on the drop out of MSW.....if she doesn't then her last fits fine

7  Wildcat Janine   6 1/2L of trip trouble in mc debut last and still managed to fly late for 2nd.......good rider/trainer combo.......same horse with a better trip and she fits fine here and will have a shot at graduating

3  Run Rosie Run

6  Vegas Bound

8  May Fine
